Yeah and Idk too much about turbos but I feel like a turbo of that caliber is rebuildable. I know my dad took a couple messed up centrifugal blowers and re machines them and bad them work again. So as long as a turbine doesn’t grenade and toast the housing I’m sure it could be kept in working order for a long time

@@StavTech I'm sure I read in CCC back in the day when they started talking above turbo vs na that the focus for making power shifted from the induction side of the engine to the exhaust side.
As soon as you started talking about how smooth castings were internally, a little alarm bell started ringing in my head, because it can't have been a simple process to get that level of surface finish. Complicated processes suggest big money, and you don't pay big money if you're not getting results.
As for the internal surface finish on the compressor side, as I said, the compressor side is less critical, as the volume of gas you are shifting is less.

Every part on every F1 car needs to be traceable and individually identifiable. They are ALL identified by being hand engraved with a unique number. IF it is an F1 turbo it would have this. The 'SK' engraving would seem to be this number and WOULD be traceable to when it was used and by what driver. Not sure who would have the records for it now.
