It's so true that it takes time. I've had my dog ten months and she's learned her recall, sit, beg, stay, leave, touch (where she touches my hand and she knows the difference between left and right touch) and I'm currently trying to teach her paw. It just takes time and a lot of dedication. I constantly still ask her for old commands to reinforce them and I often ask for a recall, sit and beg all in one go to test her and make her hold them each for a time as well. Clicker training and marker word training are what I always recommend to people when they say "your dogs so well trained how did you do it?" I had her for four months until I started marker training and since then she has come in leaps and bounds.
Do you wanna hear something even worse. We bought expensive cake for our family . But we kept the cake on the dining table. After we came to check the cake the box is empty. We were very puzzled and shocked. My dauchshund had cream all over his face. My dauchshund was the culprit!! He ate the vanilla cake.( Thankfully My family hates chocolate cake . Because if we bought chocolate cake my dauchshund would have died) 😭
hey ,if anyone else needs to find out about training a puppy try Alkarno Puppy Alchemist (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my friend got excellent results with it.
I just got a new puppy's. We aren't sure what type she is, the people who we got her from said she is half labador retreiver and half Australian Shepherd. She is extremely stubborn!!! But she is very food activated. Which is helpful when training her!!! Your are so helpful!!! You have helped me a lot me my new puppy! And she is helpful too!
But she also doesn't like going potty. I will take her out side and she will just lay there. No matter how much I call her she won't come. She also loves digging in the mud. Then gets in in the house. How do I stop this!!!
I love all your videos! I used them to train my grandma's dog (in my avatar) who was totally untrained and rescued from an abusive home. You have helped so tremendously!
I have a question. My dog is half Siberian husky and half Australian shepherd, and I've taught her to sit but she only does it when I have a treat. She automatically sits when she knows I have a treat, but she just doesn't correlate the word sit with sitting.
I love stubborn dogs and sensitive dogs cause they challenge me. I took in a senior pekingese last year and he had no positive reinforcement experience. I put in the work and today I am extremely grateful because the trust I gained with positive reinforcement is priceless now after he went blind. He comes when I call with voice and clapping to hear what I want and where I am. He trusts that I will guide him safely, and he trusts me to treat his eyes, clip his nails and much else. Luckily he is very motivated by bellyrubs and other physical affection but treats will always be the strongest reinforcer! I always compare stubborn dogs as a CEO of a company. He can be hired like anyone else but he needs a higher salary to do the job. ;)
Really happy that I found your videos! This one was especially perfect and timely for the training I'm working on with my dog and his occasional stubbornness. Definitely planning on buying the book soon! And BarkBox is awesome, highly recommend it 🐶
I've got a chihuahua and terrier mix puppy. She is so stubborn but she knows how to sit, we are teaching her to stop barking when unnecessary and to lay down.
I have been watching your videos and became so inspired that I and my dog are going to a class now. The class "small dog" is held at the Berkeley Humane Society, here in San Francisco Bay Area. Thanks for your time.
I subscribed this channel to train my dog and I taught him alot of things but he died when I was away from home couldnt even meet him in a month and when I decided to go back I got the news of his death. It is very devastating. I miss him alot. He was such a friend of mine. :'( 😟 gonna miss him.
+Zak George's Dog Training rEvolution I dont even know I will ever find anyone like him ... it makes me depressed and I watch video of me training him.. the only one that i recorded and it brings tears in my eyes :(
+makkk53 You are right that you will never find one like him but you will love JUST as deeply when you are ready! I have loved and lost animals too and one in a highly tragic way.. killed by another dog. I have 5 dogs now and I love all of them to the depth of my heart and all for unique reasons! And when you are ready for the next love of your life you will find a whole new way of feeling love! They each find their unique chamber in our hearts and every single chamber will always be sacred. The pain of loss will come in waves but it just reminds you of everything he taught you, all you did together and how wonderful life is to put him in YOUR life out of all people so that you got to love that specific angel. You will feel love and joy again, when you are ready. ♡ New angels will move in to your heart and develop who you are. We were touched by angels. :)
No worries man. Its great looking back, time flies. You should check out my channel, why not subscribe while your there getting to 30 subs would be such a milestone.
That dog is incredibly overweight for his breed. Doxies are already prone to joint and back issues; they should be kept lean, with a clear tuck up and easily detectable ribs. Maybe more exercise and less aggressively pushing Bark Box...
Destiny Jackson Some Doxies actually just have wide backs. If you feel on my Dachshunds back you'll feel his ribs not to prominent but you can still feel them. Just like my others.

That's really nice of you to say. The truth is that I DON'T know it all and try to remind myself of that constantly (I think that will be apparent in the book!), haha! There are always new things to learn. It's important to be able to say," I don't know" sometimes. The field of animal behavior is so new and nuanced in many ways. I love learning and teaching what I learn. I understand that not everyone sees the world the same way. My profession has people from all walks of life with different backgrounds and experiences. Glad to have you here! Zak
A solid recall is for me the single most important behavior to train and takes a lot of very consistent work. Start at home and do it every day. Only use your cue if you are 100% certain your dog will recall. If you cue and the dog fails, you're polluting your cue. Once he's recalling fluidly in the house, move it to your yard. I make the reward a big event that lasts 10-30 seconds, sometimes with play sometimes with food, depending on your dog's motivation. If you're working in an environment that's distracting, use a long line so that you can enforce the recall. I start with restrained recalls (needs two handlers) outside and work up from there. Good recall is a skill and takes time but can be a life saver once reliable. I can call my dogs off of any distraction after 6 months of working hard on it. I can also give them a 'call away' whereby they recall mid flight when running towards a distraction. They simply peel off and circle back to me. I'm lucky with one of my dogs as he's so obsessed with his ball, he'll come back from ANY distraction for his ball and I can play tug with him whilst several other dogs are around, even sniffing him and he stays focused on me and he's normally very reactive. My other dogs all prefer food rewards. I also use pressure when needed to proof the recalls, so strictly speaking, I don't train 'all positive'. But that's just my method - I train all positive until the dogs know the drill and then apply pressure if they refuse to comply. All my dogs are trained to know how to turn off pressure, else pressure is unfair and is off no help. The premack technique is also useful for early recalls with distractions. It's well worth the effort and I often 'show off' to other dog owners when out on walks as it's very impressive to have that level of control. People often see it and then ask me how I managed to achieve it. Most are not prepared to put the time in though, once I tell them what's involved. At 4 months, I would not be expecting a reliable recall and recommend a long line for walks as they puppy will be able to explore, but not get away from you. Restrained recalls are also great at this early stage. If you have one nearby, a private hire of a secure area is a great idea to practice off-leash recalls and alleviates the stress of worrying if puppy wanders off. Take a friend to help and do restrained recalls back and forth. Do it 10 - 15 times. Take a break, have a play and do it again. ALWAYS reward for coming back and if you can't reward, don't recall. Good luck and let us know how you get on and if I can help more.
thank you for posting these videos because i had an duchshand and it would never listen so now i am going to have a new duchshand really want to train it prove my mom wrong
Then you haven’t met my lab /collie Mix cocoa she has the habit of being very smart like she can walk off leash with out running away but when it comes to commands like sit or down she just doesn’t do it
There are differences in training different breeds. Great to hear a few of the things that can help. It's what my channel is all about. Duke just doesn't know the behaviour yet. High rate of reinforcement works really good with so called "stubborn" dogs.
I read both his books and I highly recommend both of them. Before you get a dog, read his first book. After you pick up your dog, read his second book.
I have a Doberman she's 2 years old. When we first got her we trained her the basics and walked her around a lot, got her to socialize with other dogs, and people etc. But around that 8 month mark she started to rebel and my mom didn't really try to train her much of the obedience or focus training on her except re-teaching the basic "sit, stay, down" and even then would only listen sometimes. Also she doesn't really take her to the park anymore and only walks her occasionally, which I find pretty sad since Dobey's tend to be very needy. She's is about 2 pounds overweight, she's always hungry but I think that has more to do with the fact she doesn't get as much attention or receiving as much activity as she used to. So I plan on taking her on long walks either in the morning or after work and try to train her again to get her going more to shed off some fat, gain muscle, and to mainly start listening again. Do you have any tips on previously trained adult dogs that are stubborn?
Try to make a list of things that your dog likes. Some dogs are motivated by treats, toys, "good boy", petting, scratches, and/or letting them do what they want to. Let me explain! Short dogs love to sniff the ground. In that case u would tell them to sit and then say "ok!" and let them sniff the ground for a few seconds.
Onion Face thank you for this response!! My dog knows the commands and will still ignore because he doesn’t want to walk on a leash. I’ve had several dogs and he’s the only one who does this. He’s not alpha and knows that just wants to do what he wants.
Sometimes you can have a dog that is simply to smart, we used to have a jack russel that would see and listen to your request to come for example but he would often choose to run off to investigate in our bush instead, much more fun. It wasn't a matter of distraction.
Omg, so many comments about people getting dogs, how about you all do some research before you go getting a dog that will end up either left neglected in the backyard or dumped at a shelter...
I'd like to think that's why many of them are here commenting :). I agree with you that people should think long and hard and research what having a dog entails.
My husband and I sat down and worked out the costs, how much time we would have etc etc... We would have loved a Bernese Mountain Dog. We have both wanted one for so long. But after a lot of research we both realized it just wasn't the right thing to do at this moment in time.. So we decided to go for a Labrador instead. So many people rush into this and cause dogs and cats a lot of distress when things don't turn out how they expected. PLEASE!!!! look at all the pros and cons before committing to buying any animal.
+Rachel Burkett well done, I bet your lab is a very spoilt one. We have taken on foster care of an 11yr old malamute who was abused for two years by his owners ex wife. We decided to help older dogs who no one wants, we all deserve to feel the love until we die and our old fella is absolutely gorgeous...😊 😀😉🐺🐕🐩
I have a 12week old Maltese pomeranian mix he meeko keeps biting and wont listen to me at all iv tryed treats toys and ice cubs he meeko wont stop iv been doing traing he meeko wont potty out said inless leve him out there for 30ments or more why he'll go in house right away help he's hyper he meeko still needs more shots cant walk him yet
Thank you for saying that the use of treats might take a while to make the training stick. My dog is smart and will do just about anything if I have a treat in my hand. I was getting frustrated that she would not do the same thing if I had no treat and would basically ignore me. But I have only begun to train and I think I was expecting too much.
Schnauzers aren't that bad actually :) They hate repetition and gets bored fast so practice short sessions and with fun and variation. I introduce the new "game" a few tries, asks for something she knows, plays, teach the new "game" and end the session. If you avoid boredom and find the right motivator they learn super fast! Some works better for toys than treats but my fav treat with my mini schnauzer is grain free catfood. Tiny pibbles so they don't chew forever, they love the flavor and you can jackpot as little or richly as you wish. :) It also due to the size isn't a high risk for obesity as some treats can be for some dogs. :)
+Casper I had to babysit a bullmastif for a week. Great dog, very well behaved, but stubborn. If he didn't want to do something... He wasn't going to do it. And he weighed enough that you couldn't move him.
When I give my dog a treat, it will work for about a week, then he decides he doesn't like that particular treat. So I change it and we go through this about once a week. My biggest issue is he very rarely comes when he's called treat or no treat. He looks at me and he hears me and if he's comfortable where he is he will just look at you.
This is helpful and I have watched it at least 3 times. I have had my puppy for 12 weeks and I thought she was a level 2, but turns out she is level 1 in her energy. Kinda hard to train without treats! This just reminded me to keep treats in my pocket, switch up the rewards a little, and she is much more consistent with peanut butter! Thanks, Zak, for another great video!
Alex Freemont they're one of the most loving and are very attached to their owners. Unfortionately they are prone to so many health problems and are so expensive.
Many of them have terrible neurological diseases because their skulls have been bred to be too small for their brains. My partner is a vet and unfortunately has to deal with this, seizures etc... Brachycephalic dogs in general aren't a good idea. There are other beautiful dogs that don't have messed up heads.
I'm a professional dog trainer who exposes uneducated dog trainers, including Cesar Millan The Dog Whisperer on my RUclips channel. I bust my hump & either stream/post a new video every day about dog training!
Would you be interested in assisting me in helping others learn about my channel so they can not only see the good, but why to avoid the things that balanced dog trainers promote, Zak? :) After all, it's what is best for dogs & owners & that is our focus, right Zak? :)
We could never train our youngest dog when he was a pup simply because mom got very ill. Because of that he is very stubborn, but he does surprisingly well in more busy environments. Now he is 10 years old, and even if he lacks etiquette at times he is the cuddliest dog I've ever known. Sometimes he walks up to me and whimpers until I put my arms around him firmly and he just closes his eyes and lean into me. Simply precious ^_^ EDIT: By firmly I mean steady and reassuring, not a chokehold or anything like that. Just FYI to the more sensitive folks out there
I have a dachshund and basset hound mix puppy so far he knows 2 tricks sit down and wait we're still trying to do crate training and leash training we almost have leash training
I don't have a dog yet because my mom hates animals (weirdly she used to live on a farm) but I wanted to learn how to take care of a dog before I got a new puppy😊 keep up the good work!!
Oh no, my mom is a neat freak & the energy & amount of hair would drive her crazy!! Haha, but I plan to crate train the puppy well & start overall training very young, but you're right it's a lovely breed!!
Why does most of his videos have small dogs. I bought his book but these positive only methods don't work for larger aggressive dogs. I mean a normal collar actually hurts a pulling dog. I think Robert Cabral is the best and most logical trainer I've seen. He works in a shelter where it's life or death for those dogs. I'd like to see Zak train difficult dogs.
We've had a shih tzu for about a year now, we've manage to train it for a single trick but training it with another trick seem impossible. Every time we present a treat towards our dog to teach it another trick, it instantly does the first trick we've taught it.
I have an English bulldog that is 10 months old. She is very smart but when she doesn't feel like listening regardless how amazing of a treat I give her she refuses to listen.
He said there are no stubborn dogs. My dog was found a stray and is VERY scared of almost everything. Poor baby 😔 But she’s gotten SO much better. I’ve been trying to train her for over 8 months and no luck
Need help with a German Shepard lab mix just got him three days ago he’s stubborn and very high strung just need a little help to get him to learn the basics sit, stay, come, and lay down his old owners never had the time to do anything with him which is why I ended up with him
I have a great Pyrenees puppy and he is very stubborn already and HE'S ONLY 6 WEEKS OLD. So I know for sure he's going to be stubborn during the training but I really do hope that this video helps so already
My current dog was a stray for 2 years and is very stubborn.... But I would slyly train her when we would play. Now she listens to everything I tell her. She went from basically body slamming me to get to her food, to sitting and waiting for her food. She stays and knows where and when to go if I tell her. Just takes patience.
I fully believe there are dogs that refuse to listen regardless of it. And plus, this video only demonstrates positive enforcement. Doesnt explain how to stop a stubborn dog from doing anything. For instance, the dog in my pfp, was my first dog experience, it took literally 3 days, 15 min a day, and he learned with basic treats. Was on command from then to death. Now? I got this Rottweiler, it literally refuses to listen in any environment, doesnt matter if u have “motivation” or not, she wants to do what she wants. I do not accept that. Thing is, she isnt dumb. She understands what im asking each time and just stares at me like “nah i dont care unless u actually force me” Im all against dog abuse. But dude, it literally is no other option with this dog. She 100% understands my words. She 100% chooses to ignore me. Im 100% not using the treat method on her, she has wayyy to high of a food drive. The only thing she will do for a treat is sit down, after that she does not care. I hate to say it, but i firmly believe some dogs require a beating for them to listen. Its like they don’t believe ur the owner, or she just thinks if she ignores me she can just do whatever. And im not getting a treat every second i need a simple command to be done. She needs to respect me somehow. And i know for a fact she understands my words. Bc ill sit there while eating, and shell just sit there and stare at me, i dont do that, ur not begging me for food. But ill tell her go lay down and she just ignores it, i get a piece of food shes staring at and tell her to lay down, ignores me. She doesnt listen until i get up and raise my hand like imma hit her. And listen to how smart she is, the second she senses ur gonna force her, she starts whimpering tryna get someone to save her. Treats would not work for this dog, and if they ever did, i fully know that if it came down to an actual situation i need her to listen, she will ignore. Such as, she sees the neighbors cat walking, a treat will not stop her at all. Heres an example. I feed our little dog, and feed the big dog, this dog will literally not eat her own food, wait for me to go outside or wait for me to get outta site and try scarfing down the little dogs food. The first time she did this, i walked her to the bowl and pointed, she put her ears back bc she understood, i said “no” and walked off. Just 30 mins ago i feed the little dog, walk outside for literally 3 seconds and can hear her scarf that little dogs food down again. What am I supposed to do? Repeat the same thing that clearly didnt teach her? Somehow reward her after she did wrong? Like there is no proper action to take other than making her understand she gets pain if she does it. This time, i called her to the bowl and she didnt even want to come, she knew. She just chose go ignore me bc she believe i wont do something about it. So today? I took that foodbowl and smacked it clean across her face. Pinned her down by the neck and made her piss herself. Kept saying no. Doubt she will do it again. Another thing, what about when she decides to shit in the house bc she doesnt feel the need to wait. Am i supposed to reward that behavior 🤣 she knows it was wrong. She chooses to do her own stunts. Thats a problem, and i dont see how treats will solve her audacity to ignore you. Only thing that makes her listen is literally putting fear in her. Otherwise she does not give a shit. Tell her sit, she knows the command, but she just stares at you, you take a step to her with ur hand raised she immediately listens🤷♂️ And yea treats would make her sit too, but she gonne come sit for a treat when theres a small cat running on her turf? Doubt it. Most dogs are capable of this training, but any of u actually struggling, either get a new one or beat it out. Not really any other option if u want a dog that listens. I think most of her problem stems from the previous owners, we got her at 2 years old. But they definitely gave her human food. Not acceptable for me. Dogs to me arent family. They are meant to do something. Wake me tf up if someone breaks in and listen to my command when said. Not do whatever u want. And shes scared of anything her size or bigger. Shes honestly just the worst dog ive ever seen. Sometimes I genuinely wish this dog would snap and try me, just so i can show this dog a reason to respect me. Which honestly idk why my tactics so far havent worked. Bc ive showed her shes nothing to me. She still doesnt care, and yes she does understand wtf im telling her to do. Its hard asf going from a dog like the one i have in my pfp, to a dog like this. Bc the dog before was damn near perfect, did exactly what u said out of respect, never waiting for a treat, just do as said. This dog, its like she expects something for her to do anything, sorry that doesnt fly for me. The best she can expect is an ass whooping, not no fckn treat😂
How long does it take a dog to master a command? Sometimes my dog listens to me andsomething he doesn, even with treats. Its a rescue 8 month german shpherd im thinking of getting a trainer.
You have a teenager, the brain is growing like crazy and impulsitivity is high so just keep practicing and be patient! At age 2 ish the thinking part of the brain catches up to the emotional part of the brain and they gain the ability of self control, but brain isn't fully grown to about age 3. You can hire a trainer for sure but your dog just needs time. :) Remind remind remind, practice, practice, practice!
Go easy on him right now as he's an adolescent dog and just a walking hormone. If he's intact, get him neutered. Also be aware some dogs (especially GSDs) go through a fear period around nine months and get freaked out by stuff he'd normally cope with. Just ride it out and stick at consistent training and keep it fun. Some behaviors come easy, some need lots of work (like recalls). Classes would be a good idea too. Great for building your confidence. Don't be scared to sack classes off and go somewhere else if you don't agree with their methods. Skills dogs learn at this age tend to stick for life, so get focus on the really important stuff. Good luck !
Tesla Nick Neutering dog is not as good as has been widely said. I would not recommend neutering all around without other considerations, but do some research on the negative effects on neutering dogs. Any case will be different. Sometimes neutering a dog is worse for his behaviour and health.
Sunny the mutt The risk factors are extremely low and in particular GSDs who are neutered are less prone to certain diseases. I would advise getting some professional advice from a qualified vet for anyone with doubts.

We were very puzzled and shocked. My dauchshund had cream all over his face. My dauchshund was the culprit!! He ate the vanilla cake.( Thankfully My family hates chocolate cake .
Because if we bought chocolate cake my dauchshund would have died) 😭

So you training seals now ?
My dog isn't stubborn...
*He's lazy*
hey ,if anyone else needs to find out about training a puppy try Alkarno Puppy Alchemist (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my friend got excellent results with it.
Same, mine is very lazy but shes already a adult....
yeaaahh that's my problem
Megan ruddock mine is
My dogs art lazy or stubborn...........they old
Dang man, I didn't know people even could be as connected as you obviously are with dogs. So inspiring, thank you!
I wish more people exist like you......
Thank you for saying such a nice thing.
I know!!! I wish the world was filled with many Zak Georges. It would be a much better place!!! 😁😁💗🐾🐾
@@zakgeorge ik that I'm super late but how did the tests taste
My dog doesn't go for the treat he is to stubbern and just waits to get the treat for nothing
"Just waits to get the treat for nothing"
You shouldn't give him the treat if he doesn't perform the trick..?
Same. When I want to train him, he just gets the treat from my hand and runs away😂
Because you taught his that you’re a pushover and he doesn’t have to listen to get a reward.
challenge me 21. He is a freeloader.
Yeah if he can get the treat when you don't want it, you've made a mistake :).
My puppy just wants the treat! She jumps and bites and gets craaaaaazy 😂
+Madison Hanna when ever I try to pull her away from the mud she will bite me. And it hurts
Of course it’s a dachshund 😂 mine drives me insane 😭
I love all your videos! I used them to train my grandma's dog (in my avatar) who was totally untrained and rescued from an abusive home. You have helped so tremendously!
I have a question. My dog is half Siberian husky and half Australian shepherd, and I've taught her to sit but she only does it when I have a treat. She automatically sits when she knows I have a treat, but she just doesn't correlate the word sit with sitting.
a little late here but you need to teach her to sit without giving her a treat, maybe give her pet's instead
1:34 OH MY GOSH there kinda good!
OH MY GOSH It looks like a TV Commercial!😅😂
Lmao yeah😂😂
I have been watching your videos and became so inspired that I and my dog are going to a class now. The class "small dog" is held at the Berkeley Humane Society, here in San Francisco Bay Area. Thanks for your time.
I enjoy watching your videos but having to wait 3+ mins before you get to the actual advice. Shouldn't it say in the title is an #ad?
You can tap the little right side of vid to fast forward. Not hard. Zak is giving us free info. Needs to make some $ like we all do.

I subscribed this channel to train my dog and I taught him alot of things but he died when I was away from home couldnt even meet him in a month and when I decided to go back I got the news of his death. It is very devastating. I miss him alot. He was such a friend of mine. :'( 😟 gonna miss him.
I'm so sorry to hear this. It's obvious you loved him. All we can do is give our dogs the best life that we can and appreciate our time with them.
I'm not really paying attention to the training, I just love seeing all these dogs lol
I was feeling like a complete failure. Thank you. This gives me hope
I've been watching your videos all day all and I just relized I haven't subscribed. I'm going to go do that, now.
Thank you!
I have a mini-schnauzer coming in less than a month. I need to binge-watch all your vids again, Zak. Thank the stars you're here!!
Been there man ! Good luck, you should record and post your progress its great fun and helps you get feedback.

I will! Thanks for the idea of using the videos as progress feedback. Genius!
Hey,reply me back...I have something to ask
What the heck is a doxie? Isn't that a creature from Harry Potter? Dachshund, Dackel, Teckel, Daxund I've heard, but doxie?
R.B. its the short version of dachshund
Sometimes they get a lil fat when they are operated still, duke needs to do some exercise because of all of the back problems Doxies are prone to.
Duke is my spirit animal.
Daschund's are known to be stubborn. I had two.
I subscribed because my teen aged granddaughter loved the training tips

ordering the book. What I like about you is you're professional. You don't come off with an ego or a know it all. Great vid

Hey I have got a question my dog is 4 month old and he runs over street I wanted to call him back but he didn't come and I don't know what I can do ?
Good luck and let us know how you get on and if I can help more.
my dog eats the treats but still don't listen and when I giv him toys he will instantly chew it up
thank you for posting these videos because i had an duchshand and it would never listen so now i am going to have a new duchshand really want to train it prove my mom wrong
When I try to train my dog to sit with a treat he just jumps😐
this was posted ten days after my birthday. It's a sign.!!!!!
They say there is no stubborn dogs...spend a day with my great dane
Then you haven’t met my lab /collie Mix cocoa she has the habit of being very smart like she can walk off leash with out running away but when it comes to commands like sit or down she just doesn’t do it
There are differences in training different breeds. Great to hear a few of the things that can help. It's what my channel is all about. Duke just doesn't know the behaviour yet. High rate of reinforcement works really good with so called "stubborn" dogs.
This video just feels like an ad thrown in my face over and over
I thought it was only treats or toys that motivated my dog as is common. Turns out that it is affection that motivates him.
I love Dachshunds I'm getting one February 4th
XD Flash did U ever get it?
XD Flash that's my birthday!
XD Flash Did you get one? How's it?
hi
I read both his books and I highly recommend both of them. Before you get a dog, read his first book. After you pick up your dog, read his second book.
What happened to petflow. Now would it be barkbox for 2-3 years
hi sack I'm getting a husky soon I think I'm ready because ur videos helped me a lot thank you so much
Lol, I've tried a few dog treats, they smell so good !
haha
Nothing ever works. My dog just wants to sleep all day. honestly I give up
EnjoiUrLunch are you using treats that the dog loves?
Bitch you're lucky my bitchass dogs bark all the time. One barks outside the other barks inside.
When was last vet visit? Sleeping all day doesn't sound normal... unless he's quite old?
I'm pretty sure the reason people are here in the first place is because they're doing research...
+xHarlequin After the fact though instead of doing the research before getting a dog.
+Rachel Burkett well done, I bet your lab is a very spoilt one.
We have taken on foster care of an 11yr old malamute who was abused for two years by his owners ex wife.
We decided to help older dogs who no one wants, we all deserve to feel the love until we die and our old fella is absolutely gorgeous...😊

Thank you Joy! Duke was a pleasure to work with!
Try training an English Bulldog, they're as stubborn as hell, even though I own a American Bulldog.
Thank you for saying that the use of treats might take a while to make the training stick. My dog is smart and will do just about anything if I have a treat in my hand. I was getting frustrated that she would not do the same thing if I had no treat and would basically ignore me. But I have only begun to train and I think I was expecting too much.
Can you train an older dog new tricks? Like a 10 year old pup? My dog has a short attention span and doesn't want to listen
having fun with dogs You can, itll take longer though
having fun with dogs my dog turned 6 this year, and I taught him 'shake' just about a month ago with no trouble.
having fun with dogs no such thing as a 10 yr old pup. He's either a puppy or he's old
omg pls never stop posting videos or else me and my dog would just be hopeless!
My dog is lazy...
And my german shepperd puppy is overactive 🤔😂
Ugh be thankful for that bc my dog is so hyper she's so stubborn
Mine is lazy to but cute why I wish she would listen she is a hound dog I want a husky though
Watching this to help with our daschund puppy Duke!! How funny. He is definitely the same.. doesnt come when called unless I have treats.
Have you ever trained a schnauzer before?!?! No such thing as a stubborn dog, hahahaha!
Schnauzers are pretty smart, try training a mastiff!
I have a chihuahua mix. It is IMPOSSIBLE for him to listen to me if I don't have a treat.
+Ambi Cahira grain free catfood? I presume you mean dry pebbles right? Or do you mean small bits of wet catfood?
+Casper I had to babysit a bullmastif for a week. Great dog, very well behaved, but stubborn. If he didn't want to do something... He wasn't going to do it. And he weighed enough that you couldn't move him.
When I give my dog a treat, it will work for about a week, then he decides he doesn't like that particular treat. So I change it and we go through this about once a week. My biggest issue is he very rarely comes when he's called treat or no treat. He looks at me and he hears me and if he's comfortable where he is he will just look at you.
What happened to pet flow
This is helpful and I have watched it at least 3 times. I have had my puppy for 12 weeks and I thought she was a level 2, but turns out she is level 1 in her energy. Kinda hard to train without treats! This just reminded me to keep treats in my pocket, switch up the rewards a little, and she is much more consistent with peanut butter! Thanks, Zak, for another great video!
Are cavalier King Charles dogs nice?
They are known to be very nice, but for some reason most people buy them in pairs....and they are a bit pricey! They are lovely dogs, though.
Alex Freemont they're one of the most loving and are very attached to their owners. Unfortionately they are prone to so many health problems and are so expensive.
Yes they are the sweetest dogs ever
Many of them have terrible neurological diseases because their skulls have been bred to be too small for their brains. My partner is a vet and unfortunately has to deal with this, seizures etc... Brachycephalic dogs in general aren't a good idea. There are other beautiful dogs that don't have messed up heads.
Yes and incredibly loyal to owner
Some dogs are not bad and most dogs you doing have to be mean to them but you need to show them that you love them and that will also help you.

+ProAcid RIGHT. Cesar Millan is the best.
Simply precious ^_^
EDIT: By firmly I mean steady and reassuring, not a chokehold or anything like that. Just FYI to the more sensitive folks out there
no such thing as a stubborn dog just impatient people
Untrue, dogs can be stubborn just as any other animal.
Lilythekitsune not true
+JanitorIsBack Untrue. I have tried to train my dog "sit" for over a year without using a treat and he just doesn't want to.
kawaifu glad you agree that your statements are untrue
+JanitorIsBack he meant that what you said was untrue
I have a dachshund and basset hound mix puppy so far he knows 2 tricks sit down and wait we're still trying to do crate training and leash training we almost have leash training
Dachshunds are stubborn but the German Shepherd we have now makes our old dachshund we used to have seem like a genius.
Wow Zak, you ate the treat😂 I don't know how hungry you are but I'm sure you could've found some people food. Love your videos!!!🐶
I don't have a dog yet because my mom hates animals (weirdly she used to live on a farm) but I wanted to learn how to take care of a dog before I got a new puppy😊 keep up the good work!!
which type u thinking about
A Husky:)
MimiLuvsTweety yes lovely dog you should get 1 soon your family will like him alot
Oh no, my mom is a neat freak & the energy & amount of hair would drive her crazy!! Haha, but I plan to crate train the puppy well & start overall training very young, but you're right it's a lovely breed!!
I'm getting a miniature dashund. He is 8 weeks old. I am consistently watching videos on training him.
I'd like to see Zak train difficult dogs.
duke looked done with everything lol i love his face
And of course it’s a weenie lol! My weenie looking at me rn like girl you know I’m a sassy queen!
I just got a chiwennie puppy last month and she’s so smart but can be rather stubborn when she wants to be
He said there are no stubborn dogs. My dog was found a stray and is VERY scared of almost everything. Poor baby 😔 But she’s gotten SO much better. I’ve been trying to train her for over 8 months and no luck
Can you do a video on training dogs on grooming? Such as bathing and brushing, and how to cut a dogs nail?
Just got my second Doxie! They are amazing.
Content starts about 2:00
Need help with a German Shepard lab mix just got him three days ago he’s stubborn and very high strung just need a little help to get him to learn the basics sit, stay, come, and lay down his old owners never had the time to do anything with him which is why I ended up with him
I like your promotional stuff
This was a new video when I watched first right before I got my doggy he passed a few weeks ago
She understands what im asking each time and just stares at me like “nah i dont care unless u actually force me”
Im all against dog abuse.
Tell her sit, she knows the command, but she just stares at you, you take a step to her with ur hand raised she immediately listens🤷♂️
And yea treats would make her sit too, but she gonne come sit for a treat when theres a small cat running on her turf?
Ok this helped me a lot! My pug just won't listen ever! But she isn't hard to train she just doesn't do anything 😂
Some actions can be mastered fast and others will take months. And yes your dog is a teenager. And getting a trainer is not a bad idea in any case.
Good luck !

Neutering dog is not as good as has been widely said. I would not recommend neutering all around without other considerations, but do some research on the negative effects on neutering dogs. Any case will be different. Sometimes neutering a dog is worse for his behaviour and health.

The risk factors are extremely low and in particular GSDs who are neutered are less prone to certain diseases. I would advise getting some professional advice from a qualified vet for anyone with doubts.
Even though I watch trainers on. Both sides I still like your videos working with other dogs.
Susan Garett is interesting too.
