I have feels seeing you work with Sampler because it reminds me so much of trying to make sounds on my Ensoniq samplers decades ago. It is a powerful and very full-featured instrument but its UI is extremely clinical and that is probably what puts people off. Ableton Live is such building block approach after all.
Aaaaand again a surprisingly inspiring video 🎉 watched it, opened Ableton and startet immediately using it for a new song idea! Thanks a lot - again 🙌🏻
@@Zdrewe a more descriptive title would be helpful to (new) viewers and the platform, helping you ‘playing the game’ (if that’s what you’re aiming for).
i dont think its rlly click bait. thumbnail and title make it clear he’s using sampler to turn drum samples into synth patches. which is exactly what he did in the video. genuinely what did u think he was gonna do? type in a special command to open up a hidden console and use a literal secret synth you can only access with cheat codes? 😅
Sampler is ❤. Great content man :) I also use sampler a lot in my music specially mangling around with loop size for some glitchy aphex twin style fills in beats. Although Drum Sampler has this feature right out of the box, in Sampler although the loop time cannot be mapped directly it can still be modulated. But personally not having the ability (like with sampler) to use Sampler’s chain selector for changing between 127 samples is a big miss for me. Wish there was an update on Sampler by now. Anyway using the techniques in your video along side with chain selector and applying this to 127 samples at a time while using a knob to switch between samples, playing with FM coarse envelopes, lfos,… is why I think Sampler is probably one of the most versatile yet underrated devices when it comes for sound design. Great work keep it up! 😊
Exactly that, I think sampler needs and update as well. Another cool thing would be the ability to map the position of a whole loop you made. Then it would basically work like scrolling through wavetable. I tried to do this by mapping sample offset and loop start but it doesn’t work like that 😂
It always feels like Ableton just dumped their internal sample pack builder tool into the program and called it 'Sampler'. They could really work on the UI, have a big pop-out for everything, not just the zone editor, then people might use it more.
Yeah, I thought about including a quick breakdown on how to build your instrument but considering the UI and all the stuff you mentioned it could get pretty boring and confusing to new users. Sampler update would be awesome but I guess we need to wait until 12.5 or even 13
The irony of the video, wearing a Fender T-shirt while using Ableton Live.... 😂😂. It is a great video, it reminds me of Swedish House Mafia's One with the kick that turns into a bassline 🙌🏻.
@@Zdrewe Iron Maiden Rocks! But I am pointing out that Fender is owner of Studio One now and you just doing a tutorial on Ableton Live 😂😂. It is no big thing but I found it hilarious. Your content is very on point mate🙌🏻!
@@Zdrewe Yes, Studio One a great DAW, and I worked with it until version 7. Despite its new features, I’m against subscription models. Although they’ve said you can buy a perpetual license, you’re basically forced to pay €150 a year for every update. So, I switched to Cubase. I’m not entirely happy about it, but it’s a matter of principle for me. I also see a lot of potential in Ableton.
I tried synplant right after the release and call me weird but same as the original - it’s not my cup of tea. I like to tweak sounds on my own although micromusic looks interesting to create some starting points faster
What's the odds of you creating a "mastering" video? I'm experimenting with The God Particle and loving the sound but I'm curious what are good, go to numbers as far as reductions or compressing ratios etc. etc. Or maybe this plugin isn't the way!
OH I know I'm commenting on my own comment! But I want to ask, with plugins like that would you suggest mixing into them or slapping it on the end. I'm still loving your content and always waiting for that upload notification! I know I sound like a bot but I'm so serious. Lolz.
I actually have something in the works (probably 2 videos away) TGP is great but honestly I barely use it nowadays, it gives too much of a shine for me. Obviously you can parallel process but that misses the point of using the plugin. All my mastering lies in mixing and sound selection so usually my chain is glue compression, some tonal adjustments and clipper + limiter or even less.
Apologies if people keep asking you this, but how do you shrink your Minimeters into the info window in the bottom left? I can only open it in a separate window which takes away space
Haha they keep asking about what kinda app is this so you’re close 😂 there’s and option to “unpin” separate modules from the main MiniMeters window. My exact setup is - meter, oscilloscope and stereo imager are unpinned windows (made them this small by dragging the edge of module). The spectrum meter on top is the main module although I also adjusted it’s size
Sorry, could you please give a time stamp ? I don’t understand clearly what you’re talking about and I have the feeling that I’m missing something important ! 😅
I am kinda annoyed that most of the great tools, same ones as manyyyy different tutorials teach are only in suite... bought standart cuz I did not wanna steal and did not realise how much of the stuff I'll be missing. Did not expect so many of the significant tools to be locked behind the "suite-premium" version. :/
Unfortunately that’s the hard truth and selling point of Suite - once you have it you can really forget about majority of third party plugins and tools. I’ll try to divide my content and make some videos for Standard as well but hey, Black Friday is coming, I guess they will have some upgrade deals
@@Zdrewe i would appreciate standart stuff a lot, but I did not meant that i expect that from you, or that i am annoyed by this tutorial being one of those i refered to. Love this technique. But I hate to break it to you, but this ain't no secret my friend and loads of people have been talking about this for a long long while now. Like so long people have forgotten about it and now everyone thinks it's new some undiscovered secret.
Really appreciate your feedback here and I totally understand. I love how you give spotlight to the 100% -ish Ableton production style. Ableton really does have all you need besides actual mastering plugins.
I learned it the hard way but as always - there are some cool and useful plugins out here but not as many as people think.
