Im sure glad since 2012 Kawasaki has really been building top class bikes, my 2012 Zx14R compared to the many previous Kawi Bikes Ive owned is just amazing. But Hey Busa's are great too, and Im glad to see these two give the liters bikes a solid run for the money, where previous models where beaten up by the BMW S1000RR and other 1000cc bikes. Enjoy whatca Ride!
Remember this is bikes you can ride for a long time sitting comfortable as opposed to racebikes. The R1 for instance is race, while the Busa and Kawa is Touring/sportsmotorcykels .. hence the bulky etc look. It's a matter of which bike you prefer riding =)
the kick of busa is not only more mean is more pleasant than 14 (i owned both previous had honda cbr 1100xx, R1 05, zx10 , literbikes are eye candies but track unconfortable bikes, busas zx 14 are mature rush adrenalin long travel buddies, and as i said before ...it doesnt matter ferrari lambo or any car nothing nothing compares the rush this bikes give to you the only way a car can math is before many hundred $ on mods, ....and even that sensation is not the same , just my 2 cents
What gen of both have you owned though? by what you're saying I would say 1st gen 14 is what you rode.. If thats the case then you have no idea. I made passes at the drag strip on a 1st gen 14 and wasn't impressed at all, as well as the 1st gen busa. But the 2nd gen of both are very respectable. I have a 14R and stock for stock the busa just can't hang.
I have a 2012 zx14r in black and I think it looks great. It is not a small sport bike for tight turns but winding curves and freeyways it`s incredibly stable and comfortable.Did I mention amazingly fast.
Sport Rider may have run a 9.68, but any ETs they run are corrected for temperature and air pressure. These guys ran the ZX-14R at a 9.36 @ 152.9 when weather-corrected, and the Busa at 9.48 @ 150.7.
Shootout between two bikes... based on one... typicaly american test... drag... great... I really needed that... now I know all about these bikes.... thanks....
C'mon! Drag strip comparisons are pointless, load them up a bit, take them out for a few days and see what they are like in the real world where they actually live. The 14 is king.
1972 I bought new a Kawasaki 750 H2 fastest stock bike in 1/4 mile at the time, 1975 I bought new a Kawasaki 900 Z1 fastest bike you could buy, 1983 i bought new a Honda V65 first stock bike to run 10s 1/4 mile 121hp. I would love to own the Kawasaki ZX14R but i do not trust myself. I always wanted a V Max Yamaha but never owned one they came out in 1985.
Awesome, simply awesome bikes! Best enjoyed by riders that can not only control a fast bike but that can also control themselves. Nothing like huge torque along with big horsepower. Cubes baby, cubes!!
Sportbike in the US did a 1/4 mile run with the 2010 BMW and got 9.681@150.4, so I think that beats the Suzuki at least. The 2013 HP4 version should be a little quicker again, so it'd be very close to the Kawi. You've got to consider all that extra weight and drag the extra horsepower has to make up for.
Only problem is that 250 bikes just don't have enough pull. Sure they are better on gas but as far as get up and go, they just don't have it. Most riders want that extra grunt just in case traffic is turning ugly or they just need to change lanes quickly to avoid a situation. The 600's are pretty much all that's really needed on the streets. But hey, some people like myself started on a 1000. Just depends on what the rider feel comfortable and confident with.
Yeah I realize that, but it's still misleading, to simply say "they're the quickest production motor vehicles on the road". Which is why I said it isn't entirely true. I'm not trying to be pissy about it, but it's just he seems to be embellishing the truth a little too much.
Engine performance is significantly altered depending on temperature and air pressure. To keep data as apples-to-apples as possible, all magazines correct their stats to sea-level air density and 68-70 degrees F. That's why the raw ETs we ran are reduced when corrected for the weather condition of more than 100 degrees F.
SUPERCHARGER REQUIRED NEXT FOR ZX-14 PLEASE I HAVE ONE THAT IS PIPED PWER COMMANDER AND UNRESTRICTED AND I JUST CANT SCARE THE SHIT OUT OF MYSELF ENOUGH NOW 12YRS RIDIING THE ZX-14
The Busa will have ABS and BREMBO'S next year which will obviously make it a better bike and it wasn't much slower over the quarter, so i think that it wouldn't take much for Suzuki to produce a new Busa that will surpass the ZX and it could happen as early as 2014.
of course there arent light bikes...they steer but you have to do your part understandably more than a 600 or 1000 ...but when you are in the middle of the corner and accelerating while getting up youll surpass anything in your path ....leaving a fat tire mark in the process....and feeling superb too!!!
Looks like you know what you're talking about! It'd be nice to have a chat with you about different classes. I've heard that the ZX14 is more comfortable than the Busa. But to me, nothing beats Busa's image! I had the older model and now I have the new one and I absolutely love it! Have you ever been up on Mulholland Snake?
So much bollox spouted by Internet wannabe's on here who don't even own a fuckin bike! Both these bikes are fuckin awesome at what they were made to do! If you want a hyper sports tourer, that goes like a rocket and is stable at very high speeds, get the one you like, if you want a sports bike, then get one of them, don't come on here spouting shit about something you know nothing about ffs!!!!!!!
These are some good comments concerning the BMW, but you have to remember a few things. 1. the ET numbers are not on the same day/track ect 2. Don't get totally caught up in the horsepower numbers and overlook the fact that the ZX14 makes around 115 ft/lb of torque vs 78 or so for the BMW, a whopping 50% more torque. 3. And of course finally a tall short wheelbase bike really really sucks out of the hole, having a ton of HP is useless unless you can get it to the ground.
Yeah I realise the US bikes have some different setups including speed limiters. I think MCN(UK) did some top speed runs with these bikes and found the BMW to be the fastest, it should be on youtube somewhere. Also I think Sportbike in the US did a 1/4 mile run with the 2010 BMW and got 9.681@150.4.
Im not understanding the so called GENTALMENS AGREEMENT standing so long. There are a shit load of Porsches, Bugattis, Ferraris, McLarens and even domestics such as the Corvette ZR1 and hell even my Z06, that run through the double ton.
At the time there was a big huff in the media about super fast motorbikes They grab more attention from the media because the average person can buy one, the average person cannot buy a Mclaren/Bugati/etc Double standard I know but that's the media for you
How many people go out and buy a bike to thrash it down a drag strip? Not many. This is a pointless test as both bikes are very fast and more than powerful enough for road use which is what they are intended for. I have a 2011 Busa by the way.Love it.
lighter wheels, glass tank, other dieting things like a lithium battery + single exhaust, cams/map and other little mods these things get super nasty. Drop 70-80 lbs out of one + some power bumps and low 9's. All typical attainable mods. You better have a 1100hp+ car sipping additives to play
Hmm perhaps not quite in the 1/4 mile, although it'd have to come very close. Top speed though I think it might be the winner, thanks to a more streamlined profile.
Jee ppl this video is about a segment in which the bmw 1000 HP4 doesn't belong. That is a sports cruiser segment and the HP4 and the 1000 1200 are all super sports. Not same type of bike. Just like you don't compare the Yamaha v-max with v-rod
Obviously you wouldn't bring either bike on a full track because of the weight but when talking about the engine alone we track riders like to say "torque wins races"
Both have really bulky fairings to provide more wind protection for the rider at such high speeds. Plus they've got longer wheelbases than a typical sportsbike, again for high speed stability. Makes them both pretty ugly. But it's a function over form thing.
He said they accelerate faster. They do. These would probably do about 210/220 un restricted I reckon, but yeah, they wont touch a buggati... but they'll still smoke it on a drag strip.
Performance aside, Kawasaki is by far the most beautiful bikes on the road. The Busa looks like a boiled hot dog bun, that's been stepped on a few times.
Around a track absolutely, fastest qtr mile I doubt it. Top speed may be a whole different ball game. Stock bikes here in the US will be locked at 187mph if they are able to go faster. Would like to see the BMW K1300S in the comparo too
neither on a quarter/full mile drag race nor on a highspeed race....on a track yes but for drag the bmw is too short and with stock bkes they both end at +/- 299kph because of the electronics...
Take a look for some of the 1/4 mile times people are getting with 2012 S1KRR's with just a pipe and tune. Now consider the upgrades with the 2013 S1KRR HP4. I'm not saying it'll be way faster or anything, just that'd it'd be close and the bmw MIGHT be faster.
Whats the point in putting the busa up against this bike? It's like picking on a modded 750 LOL. Busa not even on the same level as this bike. Only 2 factory bikes that are close to the new 14r is the s1000 and the new 10r. Suzuki just lost.

@@Z1Hellrider I guess it's up to the individual I personally think the 14 looks like a giant fly....but hey if that's your style fuck it right ...they are both big bulky but def fast and that's enough for me

Having owned both (currently still own the zx14r). I couldnt decide which i liked more. Both amazing machines.

Own Kawi zx14 since 5 years now, wish i could afford even Hayabusa, R1 and Ducati v4 at same times, love all these bikes
He could of not of said it better. ZX14 BABY!!! What next though, a GSX-R 1500 Suzuki?
Remember this is bikes you can ride for a long time sitting comfortable as opposed to racebikes. The R1 for instance is race, while the Busa and Kawa is Touring/sportsmotorcykels .. hence the bulky etc look. It's a matter of which bike you prefer riding =)

for travelling, busa or ninja?
U right buddy. I owned both zx14&busa gen 1&2.the Hayabusa gen 2 is King
I had both at the same time and the ZX14's engine is smoother, the transmission shifts smoother and the riding position is more comfortable...
Unfortunately the Busa looks like a melted scooter, still the 2 quickest bikes out there
I have a 2012 zx14r in black and I think it looks great. It is not a small sport bike for tight turns but winding curves and freeyways it`s incredibly stable and comfortable.Did I mention amazingly fast.

I LOVE SUZUKI HAYABUSA SO FANTASTIC SO BOMBASTIC SO ROMANTIC 💯💯❤️❤️❤️
The BMW is a nice bike but it can't run with the ZX-14R stock.
Shootout between two bikes... based on one... typicaly american test... drag... great... I really needed that... now I know all about these bikes.... thanks....
ZX-14R King of Bikes

We flogged a Zx14 on our Busa the other day, thru the windies. Wasnt much in it, but we flogged him never the less........
the blue one is pretier :)

Those aren't on two wheels.
At the time there was a big huff in the media about super fast motorbikes

Double standard I know but that's the media for you
No other bike has caused such a fuss. that's 1 more reason why it will always be a legend
The 2000 ZX12R Non-restricted version will destroy any bike even the H2... 200hp Top Speed 350 km/h.
Lmao no it won't
Check those videos :
Mr Guerra Tube
Kawasaki ZX12R ' 01 top speed 350km/h

Supposedly, they take into account the wind and temperature and adjust the times and speed for it.
Hail to the "New King". Busa has been de-thrown! What's next for Suzuki?
New Busa comes out soon. Ugly tho
How many people go out and buy a bike to thrash it down a drag strip?
Not many.
This is a pointless test as both bikes are very fast and more than powerful enough for road use which is what they are intended for.
I have a 2011 Busa by the way.Love it.
Agreed, both have more than enough power. Plus there is just something about the Hayabusa I like. The ZX14 just does not have the same kudos.
lighter wheels, glass tank, other dieting things like a lithium battery + single exhaust, cams/map and other little mods these things get super nasty. Drop 70-80 lbs out of one + some power bumps and low 9's. All typical attainable mods. You better have a 1100hp+ car sipping additives to play
You don't even need to do that. I have a pipe, and pc, lowered and strapped on my 14R stock wheelbase and have been 9.03@154 so far.
How's the top speed comparison? I always thought these 2 bikes were more for top speed.
10 years later the slower hayabusa is still the king of the road!
what does "weather corrected" mean - I dont understand - thanks
Hmm perhaps not quite in the 1/4 mile, although it'd have to come very close. Top speed though I think it might be the winner, thanks to a more streamlined profile.
coz of the fact known as aerodynamics, kawi looks quite better than the busa even when am a busa lover.

If you disagree with the facts as presented, let's see some evidence. You won't find any that says cops or govt imposed the top-speed restriction..
Both have really bulky fairings to provide more wind protection for the rider at such high speeds. Plus they've got longer wheelbases than a typical sportsbike, again for high speed stability. Makes them both pretty ugly. But it's a function over form thing.
nope,,not the 14r or the busa or the hp4..go for the 2010 Mv Augusta 1078 312rr with a turbo,,have the looks and the power.
He said they accelerate faster. They do.
These would probably do about 210/220 un restricted I reckon, but yeah, they wont touch a buggati... but they'll still smoke it on a drag strip.

Would like to see the BMW K1300S in the comparo too
0:51 just look at that thing power through that speedometer like it's nothing!
click on the link, read the full review..its all there..
no it wont...its too light to get a great start like these two bikes.
neither on a quarter/full mile drag race nor on a highspeed race....on a track yes but for drag the bmw is too short and with stock bkes they both end at +/- 299kph because of the electronics...
Haircut ?
He sounds just like Colin Edwards... Texas twang...
In the 1/4 mile..NO WAY!
ZX-14 King Kong!
yeah but the veyron takes 2 miles to get from 170 to its top speed
Kawadator 💙🖤
If they limit the bike to 189 MPH, why not stay with a liter bike? Lighter, agile, at least compared to this bikes.
Ok fair game, now do the same mods to the 14r, flashed ecu, a pipe and wallah into the high 8’s.
Cool
Suzuki Hayabusa vs BMW HP4 please ...
You compare the v-max to the diavel
Whats the point in putting the busa up against this bike? It's like picking on a modded 750 LOL. Busa not even on the same level as this bike. Only 2 factory bikes that are close to the new 14r is the s1000 and the new 10r. Suzuki just lost.
Just seeing your comment. And it's silly.stupid.ignorant and delusional.
Hayabusa for KING :*
I think the best bike is the one you have
750 cc class i would prefer.
aerodynamics for high speeds
Change the rear sprocket and you’ll hit over 200+ mph
Ive owned both i have ridden with a pack the zx14 is absolutely fun but even just pumping gas people always walk up to the busa....its known more wayyyyy more and just a simple mod like a hedder will put to sleep the 14.......dont get me wrong 14 is a rocket but so is the busa ......i prefer my busa just feels cooler
But not as good looking, I appreciate that's a choice thing but with things so close, it's the Kawasaki for me, smoother and doesn't kill your back as quick on journeys.
@@Z1Hellrider I guess it's up to the individual I personally think the 14 looks like a giant fly....but hey if that's your style fuck it right ...they are both big bulky but def fast and that's enough for me
ZEUS 406 people walked up to the busa and wonder how the scooter got melted 🤣
On a top end level, the s1000rr and new 10r is faster. more powerful. Busa has more torque which gives it the edge with roll on racing but from a dead stop on up to top end, it'll lose
Hahaha. Wrong again. A busa's top end is top notch!
my hp4 is comming next week
Busa is Busa 💪
A bugatti is faster yes, but at 250mph it can only go for 12miles b4 running out of gas....by then me walking would be faster.
So what the FUCK is your POINT!!!...You could say that about any petrol , diesal ,electric, etc etc vehicle!!!...Duh!!..🙄
Why?
but must say, every other company is trying hell hard to beat that acceleration by makin lighter bikes thinking as if they r cars, kinda superleggera lambo vs a piano :D
he is talking about acceleration
300 violin orchestra
I own both, busa all the way.
kawasaki just increases the displacement to one-up other companies.
The Kawasaki zx12r ring a bell faster than a busa until they were restricted to 300kph in 2001
I've owned them all. I'm just a busa type of guy. The 1441 is is quicker but the busa is tougher and it goes faster.facts. the busa can do the dash in fifth gear.
a stock un restricted busa does not have the power to do 250 mph. Too much air drag.
Hahah, i would have to agree!
I'll stick with my 25 or so HP.
PUSSY!!😂🤣😂🤣
A 1000 cannot do 9.69 my friends.
隼😀♥️
I think still hayabusa has power in long race.. i think hayabusa still win..
