Random Rob if you want to check it out let me know. You’re right by me, I’m in Chicago and I’ll ship it to you for the your show. Keep up the great videos!
I have this model and your video shows just how beautiful the dial is on this watch. The details are incredible on the SBDC055 and it is a stunning watch, i have fitted mine with the correct bracelet from Gnomon and it has made this watch one of my favorites. Excellent video :)
Thank you again Bruce for a wondeful video. Your intro, style, quality of information and opinion are second to none. I am also a self proclaimed seiko fan boy. So much to enjoy with seiko watches. The alignment is very irritating, but once you find a peefect one it makes the watch that much more enjoyable. I agree though that at this price the alignment should always be perfect.
Great video as always Bruce. Got mine here in Tokyo the day it was released. Love it and looking forward to my SBDC059 when it gets released in another two weeks or so.
Just ordered one fifteen minutes ago. Had my eye on this one for a while and Bruce’s videography skills finally convinced me - shows it off way better than pictures. And an FYI to everybody: quite a few highly-rated sellers on eBay are currently selling them new for $640-$650; that’s where I ordered mine. All the regular online stores still have them at over $800
I used to be a Seiko fan. But they have so many quality control issues now. It's not worth buying them. I switched over to Citizen watches. Much better quality for the money. The only Seiko's I would still consider buying are their dress watches, especially the SARB line.
Amazing watch Bruce! There's so much going on with this watch I don't know where to start! Seiko's alignment issues are so prevalent they have become part of the quirky charm of owning a Seiko diver. Rocky's new bride must be a heck of a woman if she really agreed to postpone their honeymoon! Ha!
I own the SBDC 053 and absolutely love the watch and it is super accurate at about -5 a day. This padi version looks awesome but I still prefer the 053 it’s just a touch more subtle and reserved. What’s your opinion on whether the padi would look better on the Seiko bracelet that is used on 051 or on silicon strap it comes with ? Great video as always Bruce !
Ray Caroli congrats man. I think all the sbdc line should be on the bracelet! I love the look. I understand though if you really wanted to dive the long silicone strap would be ideal
I have one, and I have fitted it with the stainless steel band taken from its brother, SBDC051. The only disappointing moment is when I scratched the bezel… 😢 hope it was ceramic
i saw one of these in my Seiko / Grand Seiko store, it's reference SPB071 in the US but the exact same piece. $850 retail. Gorgeous dial and i really like the blue tint on the 'coin edge' of the bezel - really reflects a little blue shine.
What a stunning watch! It reminds me of the Davosa that I didn't win (haha!). I love that dial and the bezel. This fade dial is captivating and more watch manufacturers should do this with their dials. Thanks for the review!
Man I LOVE that dial...incredible watch. The qc issues Seiko has are just ridiculous...I don't understand why alignment is such a problem for them! Thanks for the review Bruce...I appreciate you
Thank u for not rambling about a bunch of nonsense for 10-15 mins before u get to the purpose of the video like most others do making their videos 20-30 mins. That's why ive been watching yours instead lately. Cool lil intro, to the point and all the info u need is in the 5-10 mins. Don't change ur style.
this is a hard choice , i hope you can give me input for my choice , i will buy one between sbdc051 black, 053 blue , 055 padi or 059 green , can yougive reason to your choice
Gorgeous! You're killing it with the Seiko reviews. I keep throwing my credit card at the screen, but nothing happens. Who did the blue to black fade better? This watch or the Davosa?
Nice. I saw this a few weeks ago and it looked interesting. Nice to see in your video, Bruce. Shows off the effect more than still photos can. I also like the padi version of the tuna. Both with strong blue accents and touches of red details and unique blue plated components. I like the bi-color lume. Will be interesting to see if Seiko does more bi-color lume applications or even mono color lume, but use this blueish color more. But, idk.. Versatility wise, it may be harder to pair with variety of straps and personal attire. But, these sure our cool to look at. And, fun to sport if you want to show your fondness for blue color.
Great video 👍 (what an intro!!!) I do have a question as a Seiko noob. Compared to my SBDC053, is the case design what makes it a PADI version or just dial design cues? Thanks Bruce
It is the dial that sets it apart. PADI (Professional Association of Dive Instructors) is placed on the dial, and Seiko utilizes their red and blue color theme throughout the watch. Seiko makes Padi versions of several of their popular divers. This is the latest one to get the treatment. The case will be the same as yours. Most Padi Seikos are special editions, although occasionally they do a 'limited edition' meaning there is a set number of them made and sold. The Padi Sumo is an example of this. It sold out almost immediately. Padi Seiko is a fun little rabbit hole to go down :) You'll have to check out my Marinemaster when it arrives
Case design is the same, PADI watches have different colours compared to regular models. Blue and red combo - usually in blue dial + blue bezel + red minute hand combination.
I love that dial and lume! Seiko seems to be really stepping up their game with the PADIs. The alignment on the dial is really disappointing though; I agree with you Bruce, on a Turtle - okay- but approaching $900, Seiko has to do better. Thanks for another great video :)
PADI Logo is a big let down. It is so ugly and decrease the value and aesthetics of the watch. Other than that, all aspects of the watch are great. I would love to see it on a Jubilee or Endmill.
Thanks you for the vid Bruce. I've got one incoming from Kenta-San and this is the first, and long awaited, vid on it. Curious how long it takes to get delivered (I live in Boston), ordered the 29th and USPS still has no tracking data to provide.... Any help would be appreciated; not nervous yet but curious as it's the fist time I've ordered direct from Japan and did so based on your recommendation of Kenta-San. Thanks!!!
Steve Ottavaino send him and email Brother and ask for an update. He always sends tracking info, and my purchases come to Utah in around 4 business days
Bruce Williams I have, he's very communicative, providing tracking info to a Japanese site but it's difficult to decipher what that's all about. I don't doubt it's shipped but seems to come to a halt somewhere. USPS acknowledges the tracking number but does not have the package, a local USPS agent telling me it will probably land in New York and ship from there but could offer no other info unfortunately. At this point I just gotta wait and see I guess. Thanks again Bruce, great channel, keep up the good work!!
Steve Ottavaino I take the number that begins with ‘EP’ then search japan post tracking on google. I enter the number in the google page (not the actual Japan site) and I get an accurate read of where it’s at. You can email me about it if you like. I hope it shows up soon!
I bought this watch from an online store in Canada. There is no misaligned bezel issue, and getting about +4 second per day consistently (wearing for a week now). It is a bit pricy, but at least it has sapphire crystal which most other same level watches from Seiko is lacking. I'm quite happy with this watch. It is kind of unique.
Its a nice watch, but the blue on the coin edge is offputting and cheap looking. The rubber strap is not an acceptable strap to me, especially at this price. It needs a bracelet.
Hmm - not a fan of the two-tone dial. I wish it were a little more subtle, like the one on the Cameron Deep Sea (obviously a far, far more expensive watch, but still). This one just looks garish to me.
No unmodded seiko diver lines up perfectly. Even if you think it does.. you just havent looked close enough lol. Its embarrassing. It keeps me from loving my 4 seikos.. but then again i don't get as mad when i see a scratch!
Great review and great watch, Bruce! Big Thanks to Rocky, too =) I think the price is a little bit high but THAT dial and the fact that it’s a limited edition balance that out at least a little bit. Really thinking of getting one...
I got mine yesterday, and i'm not disappointed. What a lovely watch :)
About to pull trigger along with sbdc077. Can't resist Seikos. They got my number
Just bought this watch and it's my favorite so far in my whole life collection! This is a BEAUTY for sure!!!
I just ordered one myself. Glad to hear you love yours!
Alphons Potters is this reference number the same as the SPB071? Or is the spb the American version? And if so do you know the difference?
What a beautiful alternative to the electric blue Omega Seamaster. I love that dial.
I agree with you McMahon, it is pretty awesome!
Jeffrey McMahon yep! If only it wasn't 43mm..
Killer dial. Thanks Rocky
Random Rob if you want to check it out let me know. You’re right by me, I’m in Chicago and I’ll ship it to you for the your show. Keep up the great videos!
Wow, that’s a beauty! Awesome dial. Thanks Bruce; your intros, and those macros are just getting better and better!!
I have this model and your video shows just how beautiful the dial is on this watch. The details are incredible on the SBDC055 and it is a stunning watch, i have fitted mine with the correct bracelet from Gnomon and it has made this watch one of my favorites.
Excellent video :)
Thanks for all the reviews it really helps people like me who are new to collecting
Jesse 232 glad I can help a little!
This dial is awesome, dark blue wrist band. The hands are incredible with very nice fluorescent brightness. VeryCool.
Thanks Scott! Glad to meet another Seiko Fan Boy
Thanks for sharing. I'm putting this one on the list! My (Newly Released SRPB99) Samurai PADI has a similar all black dial with dual lume also.
Great video as always Bruce. Got mine here in Tokyo the day it was released. Love it and looking forward to my SBDC059 when it gets released in another two weeks or so.
Congrats! Can't wait to see real pictures of that one!
My word that's a handsome watch!
There it is. Re-issues are my thing over vintage. Looking forward to get this one.
Just BEUTIFUL!
Simple,elegant....what can I say.
It's like a narcotic for my eyes 😉
That dial though! Gorgeous watch and great work as always Bruce.
Stunning - definitely adding this to the wishlist!
All the regular online stores still have them at over $800
:o And Seiko does it again, another winner model for sure.
By the way, your opening graphics are killer!
Andrew Hughes thanks man!
I own this watch and I still come back to watch this video! Thanks for the beautiful video on this amazing watch. I love mine more every day.
I used to be a Seiko fan. But they have so many quality control issues now. It's not worth buying them. I switched over to Citizen watches. Much better quality for the money. The only Seiko's I would still consider buying are their dress watches, especially the SARB line.
The enamels and urushi presage is a killer
Amazing watch Bruce! There's so much going on with this watch I don't know where to start! Seiko's alignment issues are so prevalent they have become part of the quirky charm of owning a Seiko diver. Rocky's new bride must be a heck of a woman if she really agreed to postpone their honeymoon! Ha!
Mike V 😂😂😂😂😂
Bruce Williams *_Much love from all your loyal fans in most beautiful Bangor, Maine._*
Awesome intro. That is a beautiful watch.
That DIAL!
Great watch! And man, that intro!! Just awesome
Tastefully bold from a true watch maker......padi logo is a little bit big but would still consider purchasing.
Interesting! I wasn't aware there was a global version.
My god.. I'm in love!! That dial is unreal!!
My opinion? This is the most beautiful dive watch Seiko has ever made - including the Grand Seiko divers.
What a stunning watch! It reminds me of the Davosa that I didn't win (haha!). I love that dial and the bezel. This fade dial is captivating and more watch manufacturers should do this with their dials. Thanks for the review!
lol your welcome
Lucky Rocky!
Just bought one love it luckily the bezel alines with the chapter ring and dial
Excellent
rocky is the men!
That lume is cool. I like how it looks uniform in normal light. Hopefully they do more watches like that!
Yes I agree
That thing is dooooope.
How is the bezel action on yours, just got mine today and I am quite disappointing in it (Chunky and skips). Sad because I love the watch otherwise.
Russell Cole mines good
Wow just wow 😍. What an amazing watch
Man I LOVE that dial...incredible watch. The qc issues Seiko has are just ridiculous...I don't understand why alignment is such a problem for them! Thanks for the review Bruce...I appreciate you
chris auge totally agree man!
The Seiko Samurai Padi also has bi color lume my good man
Nice watch. good video as usual 👍 But too many almost similar pieces (divers) out there...i cant see a clear strategy from Seiko...
Great intro! very creative
OMG that is the most beautiful Seiko I have ever seen! Gotta get one! I love your channel Bruce, but you got me buying so many watches. Cheers!
Giang Vu lol this hobby is tough on the wallet!
If only that was part of James Cameron's expedition.... very nice looking watch
I try to keep it closer to 5 mins most vids. thanks!
Hi,why this model look the same with spb071j1. Are there anything wrong ?? Thank you
I am from the future. They will also do the bi-color lume on the PADI solar tuna to be called SNE499. Please wait for it. It's nice.
this is a hard choice , i hope you can give me input for my choice , i will buy one between sbdc051 black, 053 blue , 055 padi or 059 green , can yougive reason to your choice
Theres so many GOD DAMN BEAYTYFUL jdm´s, past and present...this one is one of these, that dial...mm mm mmmm. great review, thx.
Gorgeous! You're killing it with the Seiko reviews. I keep throwing my credit card at the screen, but nothing happens. Who did the blue to black fade better? This watch or the Davosa?
Justin M. I like this one more. The added texture just kills!
The texture and the transition, at low angle the waves disappear and the dial becoming very glassy.
Great video. How many hours power reserve?
Almost bought it until I found it is over £500... eeeeee!
Yes, I don't think the Padis make a good daily wear, but a great accent piece to mix it up
If i ever bought that watch. The only strap i’m gonna used with it was Erika’s trident MN
whaou, the dial is magic ! thanks Bruce for this New review. french fan !
Philippe Anton your welcome 🙏
I'm over Seiko and their poor QC. Just not really acceptable.
The padi samurai also has the blue and green lume. Great video, Bruce! Your macro shots are the best.
chavo8891 thanks man. Do you had the samurai? Can’t remember lol
Nice review, love this watch. Can I ask you the ref number of the black one please?
Great video 👍 (what an intro!!!) I do have a question as a Seiko noob. Compared to my SBDC053, is the case design what makes it a PADI version or just dial design cues? Thanks Bruce

No, this is the first PADI that has 2 types of lume.
All older models use only one type of lumibrite.
Bruce, thanks to your video on this, it brought my SEIKO fandom to the core. I finally bought it and haven't been so glad about this obsession.
I got one of these - it's pretty awesome.
Very nice video! However i would really appreciate if you can do some wrist shots with the watches maybe nearing the end of the videos:)
Cosmos Skeptikos sorry, there should be a few wrists shots in the vid
Nah no need to be sorry. Just a suggestion. Great vid quality as always! :)
they have the bicolor on the srpb99 aswell it looks dope
Fun Video Bruce! Great Intro! I read in a comment response below that you’re awaiting a Marine Master? Is it Padi? Can’t wait to see that soon....
Thanks man, I am finally rebuying the standard Marinemaster. I wish they would give it the Padi treatment though, that would be fun
I love that dial and lume! Seiko seems to be really stepping up their game with the PADIs.
The alignment on the dial is really disappointing though; I agree with you Bruce, on a Turtle - okay- but approaching $900, Seiko has to do better.
Thanks for another great video :)
Jeffrey Wood thanks for watching and commenting Jeffery!
Alignment issues on these 62Mas reissues, and on the occasional Turtles detract me from getting them. Otherwise great video of a stunning piece.
Andy Cook yeah very frustrating. But some of us (myself included) keep buying so we are not encouraging them to step it up
Great video and gorgeous watch. A shame a bezel can't be aligned on an $800 watch.
Ryan Stafford preach!
PADI Logo is a big let down. It is so ugly and decrease the value and aesthetics of the watch. Other than that, all aspects of the watch are great. I would love to see it on a Jubilee or Endmill.
Nice Video, but Meh... Better the blue one
Catastrophe😥
The best diver
Amazing!!! A funky and brave release from Seiko.
Thanks you for the vid Bruce. I've got one incoming from Kenta-San and this is the first, and long awaited, vid on it. Is the misaligned bezel something you can fix? If so, how much would it cost?
I bought this watch from an online store in Canada. There is no misaligned bezel issue, and getting about +4 second per day consistently (wearing for a week now). It is a bit pricy, but at least it has sapphire crystal which most other same level watches from Seiko is lacking. I'm quite happy with this watch. It is kind of unique.
Thanks for the cool review. The 6, 7, 8 and 9 o’ clock hour markers seem misaligned with the chaptering.
Alway nice review!
I wonder ehat do you prefer between sbdc051 black dial and this padi edition
I like the classic black personally. Just more veratile and has the bracelet. A little more expensive though
Bruce Williams thanks
have a nice day
Dialed in.
Excellent intro
looks nice, i dont like the band. but im not really a divers-type
Beautiful video Bruce! First I've seen from your channel. I love your enthusiasm, candidness and editing. 👍👍👍
Thanks Mike
Damn we need to get a letter off to the people at Seiko with a bunch of signatures.
I would sign that
this watch is like triple above my watch budget but it's so amazing looking watch i'm gonna buy it and then go on a diet for the rest of the month 😂😂
also subscibed, great clear review, great shots
Its a nice watch, but the blue on the coin edge is offputting and cheap looking. The rubber strap is not an acceptable strap to me, especially at this price. It needs a bracelet.
The nice thing is the strap makes it a bit cheaper so you can spend the extra on a higher quality option than seiko would provide.
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
That is a peacock of a watch wow!
That would be a great nickname for this one!
Whats the black one's model?
Nice watch
Hmm - not a fan of the two-tone dial. I wish it were a little more subtle, like the one on the Cameron Deep Sea (obviously a far, far more expensive watch, but still). This one just looks garish to me.
Lots of ideas at the Seiko design department here, but I find the end result to be a bit over-the-top (compared to the already stunning SPB051/053)...
No unmodded seiko diver lines up perfectly. Even if you think it does.. you just havent looked close enough lol. Its embarrassing. It keeps me from loving my 4 seikos.. but then again i don't get as mad when i see a scratch!
That is a beauty!
Damn it’s 84,000 YEN 💴
Wow that is really breath taking that dial is just unbelievable thanks Rocky and thanks Bruce great review!
That 6 hour marker is definitely off-centred! Probably you need to check the other hour markers too, Bruce.
Great review and great watch, Bruce! Big Thanks to Rocky, too =) I think the price is a little bit high but THAT dial and the fact that it’s a limited edition balance that out at least a little bit. Really thinking of getting one...
If this was smaller i'd buy it ! unfortunatly I can't wear more than 37mm lug to lug though : ((
Very nice.
Would be amazing with the original 62mas hands and no padi logo. These hands kind of suck on this model which is a shame
Love the dial, indices and hands, but L2L of 50 mm too long for me. Is there something very similar with L2L of no more than 48 mm?
U can send it back to Seiko to adjust it back to precise straightness, they will attend to u i think, i hope :)
i love it except for the red
So beautiful watch
