    Great info as always guys, though I think you missed the boat in one aspect. That being that for anyone with an arc, plus sub and using Sonos Fives as the rear speakers- we cannot use the headphone jack in that set up. As I’m sadly, already aware that because of this, without buying the port (I’ve already spent so much, that seems excessive to add a port) I’m out of luck. Except if I have the Roam, which just arrived a few days ago. I suppose you did go into how that can work, which I’m grateful for. But because some may not be aware that turntables can’t just be added when the Fives are as rear speakers, that info could have been helpful. Keep up the good work mates!

    Thanks very much for this video. I am planning to buy my first turntable in decades, and I have a Sonos Arc and two Sonos Ones. I was given a Sonos Connect so I'm not exactly sure how that works with a pre-amped turntable, but I suspect it won't be too difficult.

  • @nollindwhachell
    @nollindwhachell 3 года назад +7

    Couldn’t really afford these options, as they’re still pretty expensive from my viewpoint. Luckily our TV had composite connections (video, left, right), so I just connected our turntable (which has a built in preamp) to the left / right audio and setup a Turntable selection on the TV to use those. So the sound routes through the TV and into our Sonos Beam which I can then duplicate on other Sonos speakers throughout the house. Of course, the TV has to be on for this to work but it’s a very affordable workaround.

      Hi there, yes that is correct - just make sure your turntable has a built in pre-amp and you're good to go (e.g. Rega Planar 1 Plus as an example). You can then enable line-in autoplay on the Sonos app and so your turntable audio will play out through the speaker when the needle hits the vinyl! Hope this helps.

    Why do you have a cord plugged in to the 12V trigger connection on the Port when you are talking about connecting a turntable to the line inputs, which are RCA connections on the port? Also, the Roam is not visible in the Sonos App when in Bluetooth mode, just like the Move. I stopped watching after those two mistakes.

      Hi Adam, thank you for the comment. I can confirm once connected via a Bluetooth device the Sonos Roam os visible in the Sonos app and you can group to other speakers. This is 100% correct and a feature we use all the time. Also we use the Sonos port 12v trigger to trigger a power Amp in our showroom so that’s why it would have been connected. But should have been disconnected for filming.

    You buy vinyl because of the great dynamic range and warmth only analog can provide, but when you go to any Bluetooth speakers you convert and compress back to digital thereby defeating the entire reason to go vinyl to begin with - Bluetooth turntables make absolutely zero sense.
