    if you are watching this to seriously compare both amps, careful while judging the tone at around 6min...its written "neck pickup" but the player has the switch in the middle..

  • @tfilmyr
    @tfilmyr 7 лет назад +3

    Which would be the better choice between the Blues junior or the Artist 15? Is the reliability typical of modern tube amps with both brands? The Blackstar seems more tonally versatile perhaps at the expense of warmth versus the Fender being perhaps only a clean amp? Or is it just a matter of "you pays your money and takes yer pick cuz they're just about the same."

    • @AverageRider1
      @AverageRider1 7 лет назад +1

      Tim Filemyr
      Artist 15 by a mile. More features... loop, emulated out/headphone out, 2 chn & doesn't fart out when pushed at higher volumes. I wouldn't characterize the Blues Jr as a clean amp. The Artist amps give me the real amp feel when playing vs a Blues Jr gives me a feeling that I'm playing a wanna be practice tube amp. Just my 2 cents.

    • @Driftuner
      @Driftuner 7 лет назад +1

      X Crow i completely agree...they are not in the same league...not only the Artist has better and more usable tones, it also has a good sounding and reliable reverb...just type into google "bluesjunior reverb problems" to see what i mean...ppl going crazy right now because the Artist has e digital reverb and the fender has a spring tank, i only say this much: quit it...its been way too long now that springs sounded that much better than digital...not only will the reverb on the fender give you non but problems, it will also crack and bounce if you ever play it on a "bouncy" (false floor) stage...Blackstar Artist all the way...

    • @jazz_addict7079
      @jazz_addict7079 6 лет назад

      Blues Junior is hardly "clean" amp. It's based on a tweed circuit, for one thing. Don't expect it to sound like a Twin or even a Princeton, for that matter.

    • @ParaBellum2024
      @ParaBellum2024 6 лет назад

      You have to try both and decide for yourself. I'm not a fan of the Blues Junior, when I've played through them, or heard them when I've seen live bands. I do use a Blues Deluxe reissue though (the best amp I've ever used). I've no experience of the Blackstar Artist amps. I owned an HT Club 40 though, and it was a good amp.

  • @devinj

    I think on the 30 he had the reverb on the dark setting and the 15 had the bright setting engaged. Anyone else sense that?

      @@nedim_guitar Not relevant anymore but thanks for the reply anyway. I bought the Artist 30 and it's my main amp to this day. And yes, crunch sounds are possible at home volume and with an overdrive pedal in front even high gain sounds. I's a great amp.

      I have the Blackstar Artist 15 and it's really loud! It's got a fairly big cabinet, so you get a nice bottom end too. What surprised me the most was the fact that it's so punchy! The pick attack is great, and, like I said, it's a loud amp. It feels great playing loud with it. It takes pedals great!

    Blackstar is "mainstream"??

    • @guitarist
      @guitarist  8 лет назад

      +Brian Cullen Hi, in this case we were referring to the more mainstream use (substitute the phrase 'more commonly seen' if you like) of decent-quality PCB circuit boards in these models, as opposed the handwired Artisan amps they also make from which these amps nonetheless take some inspiration, we're told.

    • @soundknight
      @soundknight 8 лет назад +2

      +Guitarist thanks for clearing that up, that quite a mouthful ;)
      Can you also tell me what makes this amp actually pedal friendly? does it have an unusual impeadance acceptance to maximise Tube Screamers?

    • @guitarist
      @guitarist  8 лет назад

      +Brian Cullen Hi Brian, I think the main claims in that regard centre on the fact that - especially in the 30 - it's a good compromise of useful headroom and inherent clarity but still gives up a bit of nice, gritty clipping from the amp when you push it - put another way. we found it stands up to being driven by pedals in quite a balanced way. Actually best feature for us was the bottom end of the 30's Channel 2 - it's got real authority, but not so fast in response that it feels sterile and unforgiving.
