- While we where heading home from Lone Star Roundup we got the call that our shop was on fire. Needless to say we where in Montana and there wasn't much we could do at the time.

We are fine here. We are just thankful that no one was hurt, both dogs are fine. Just trying to plan out our next steps.

My heart breaks, we who have watched you are just stocked. It is the worst thing that you as a shop owner fears is fire. I agree with you, being an older guy myself is the small things that has taken a life time to gather and build. 21 years ago, I sat on the curb one Sunday morning and watched the firefighters do what they do best, trying to save my home and workshop. Like you are doing now, I spun in circles for a few days, walking through the mess, picking up tools and stuff that had survived, all the while wondering "what now?". I had insurance, but on the moment, didn't know if they would come-through or not. So, I worked, I kept trying, kept looking for another place to start-over, kept all my options open. Within 4-5 weeks, I was paid by the insurance(I took a cash settlement), bought a new place, sold the old property to a friend just to get it out of my head, and started building a new shop. My friends and brothers came around and we had me back up and working in under a month. In a much nicer shop... Might not seem like it right now, but shit has a way of working itself out, buddy! You got this!

People will help you along from your audience, I guarantee it. I’m so sorry this happened brother, but you’ve built a community now and I’m willing to bet that they’re going to be here for you.
You have always been one of the most positive people on the internet. When you hit a snag it's always, "no big deal" or "we'll figure it out". Despite the terrible circumstance I can still see you looking for something positive. The world needs more people like you. Hang in there.

I am beyond disbelief. Brent, you said it best, it was just stuff. As one of your many subscribers, I’m feeling a deep sense of loss. While we’ve never actually met, I visit your channel a couple of times a week to watch you do your magic with old cars and I know your shop was your Fortress of Solitude, your “Art Studio” and “Man Cave”. You lost a lot, but again, it was just stuff you can replace. My heart goes out to you for this happening.

Warmed my heart to see your friends and family help clean up the temporary shop. You “guys” are obviously loved. We’re not going anywhere Brent. Just like we watch you breath life into old sheet metal, we’ll all be here watching you breathe life back into the shop.

Brent, my wife and I darn near cried when we saw this video. Just know that we are just two of over 136k people who are hurting for you and hoping along with you as you sort through this. I know your shop was a one-of-a-kind place that you built every time you walked through that door and it will be impossible to rebuild it back exactly as it was - but you now have the opportunity to build a NEW THING in the way that only you can build it. And THAT possibility alone has me kind of excited to see what you make of it as we watch you do your art and magic there.

First let me say that I’m thankful that nobody was hurt. Like you said “things” can be replaced. My heart breaks for you guys. I love your attitude. A brand new shop with new tools and equipment will bring new projects. I’m here for the long haul no matter what. After the insurance claim is settled let us know if you need anything, a Go Fund Me could help offset any shortfalls. The RUclips automotive community will band together to help I’m sure of it. Stay positive, Stay strong and give those puppers some pets.

Something I notice right away is that when you're in the midst of a build you look at problems, how difficult they may be and literally laugh at the adversity and then work to a solution. You're no different today. As difficult as rebuilding your shop will be you still laugh. I love your positive attitude and outlook. So sad. I know you are always conscious about that. Was also noticing all the little stuff around the shop and how nice it is to have stuff at hand. I just moved 2000 miles and had to leave a lot of that stuff behind. Amazing when working on a project, you know you had the thing you need to move forward but was it left behind or still in a box somewhere. Best of luck on the rebuild. So sad about the coupe. My hart aches for you folks. Like you I have too many projects and not enough $$$$ or birthdays left to finish(almost 74). My shop is not insured and there are 8 cars in it plus a small apt upstairs. Wow, heartbreaking. We lost a home/shop to a flood in 1995 so I really understand the mindset. Its hard to know what to say and feelings go from exasperation to optimism in 2seconds. It’s not easy getting back but it will come. I don’t think your subscribers will be going anywhere and glad to hear ya got some people coming, that makes a huge difference. Concerning florescent bulbs & ballasts, I just upgraded mine with LED tubes. They fit into the existing florescent fixtures and have minimal wiring modifications. Remove the ballast (or leave it in with the wires cut) and wire-nut the exposed ends to the line in from your power source. Takes less than 5 minutes with the fixture on a work bench. I bought mine from Home-Depot.
