I think I understand what you're saying Bullbaloney. But Amy is so special. Her voice and her skill as a lyricist really are true gifts. It will be a very long time before we see the likes of her again which is why I hope everyone can support her through her hard times. At the end of the day, she is a young woman and we all make mistakes when we're young.

Truth is, drunk, high, ugly, whatever you want to call her she has more talent than most performers today. Every time I've seen her perform there's no lip-syncing and her voice is spot-on.

For those who were asking: regarding the song, Carole King and Gerry Coffin wrote it and the Shirelles first recorded it in 1960. Dusty Springfield recorded it in 1964 for one of her albums. They were great, but Amy breaks hearts with her amazing cover of it. Wow.

Amy was what Janis Joplin was in her day .Two women, different yet very similar, who happened to have possessed a rare vocal quality, both blew you away as soon as they opened their mouth, this happens once every 30 - 40 years. Amy will always be missed also. Immortal sirens... RIP

People "like" her because there is NO ONE singing today who communicates soulful emotion like SHE does. And her "Back to Black" music has so much appeal beacause she combines a "now" sensibility with old school sounds. Also, in spite of her "explicit lyrics" (and I say THAT because I'm "old" and didn't grow up on rap & hiphop;-), everything she writes not only has charm, but biting wit!Anyway, these are some of the reasons I like her!
God its so sad, the parallels with Billie holidays story are quite striking, both of them just wanted to be loved, both of them were unique talents, both of them couldn't cope with the pressures and turned to drugs for comfort, both of them died tragically far too young, God bless you Amy R.I.P
