    Drake Maye has the highest upside of any QB in this draft. Josh Allen/Justin Herbert type player if he reaches it. Shoot for the stars, KOC and the coaching staff can make it happen. Go get him, no matter what.
    P.s. Renner just wants us to draft Nix because he is a Packer fan

    Matt is forgetting a previous Washington QB - RGIII. Daniels is a lot like him, and the Commies could ruin him for the same reason they ruined RGIII. QB's should mostly avoid running downfield.

    • @intrepidfool
      @intrepidfool Месяц назад

      RG3 was my initial comp when watching him and reading scout breakdowns. I’ve since seen another comp for Daniels that might fit even better: Randall Cunningham.

  • @jimbo92107
    @jimbo92107 Месяц назад +3

    Best QB for Commies would actually be Bo Nix. He gets rid of the ball in 2.3 seconds, quickest in the class, and he puts it in stride, so his guys can catch it and make a move to daylight. His requirement for a solid O Line is the least of any of them.

    • @intrepidfool
      @intrepidfool Месяц назад +2

      He got rid of the ball quickly in college because the offense was all WR screens and dump offs. This doesn’t translate and is a meaningless stat. Nix will have to read defenses and attack the entire field to succeed in the NFL. It will be a big adjustment and it is tough to know how he will project.

  • @SparkyFinch
    @SparkyFinch Месяц назад +2

    I feel bipolar on this class but I am starting to love the idea of Maye even tho I don't see the upside in my scouting

    • @intrepidfool
      @intrepidfool Месяц назад

      I see the upside but also think Maye has the lowest floor. (I also don’t think his upside is any higher than the other three QBs at the top.) So, he is a polarizing prospect for me. I have him 4th and would certainly be happy if the Vikings drafted him. (Though, frankly less happy of they chose him over McCarthy or Daniels.) The red flag that is hard for me to overlook is his performance under pressure. To succeed in the NFL, particularly in the playoffs, the QB has to excel under pressure. Maye was a checkdown QB in college with a 48% completion rate. This is alarming as it makes me think of Cousins on his worst days.
      Many think he will need a redshirt year, which is fine. But I’m not sure how much it will help his game and consistency since I don’t believe staying level headed under pressure can be taught. Anxiety can be managed but not eliminated. The truly elite have a pulse that simply doesn’t fluctuate in big spots. I don’t think Maye is that guy and at best, I think he becomes a good but not elite QB. (Like Herbert is right now.)

  • @jeffwhitney3369
    @jeffwhitney3369 Месяц назад +2

    I actually spent a couple hours watching over game film of some of the top QB's recently and I found Maye's film to be very UNIMPRESSIVE. After watching film I am now a big hell no with Maye and a big hell yes for Daniels! Watch Daniels film, that guy is making NFL reads and NFL throws with ease and OMG can the man run!!!!!!!!!!!

    Good point about being outbid. Yes, it's possible, but it will be tough. The Vikings have 2 first rounders this year. That's a payback NOW instead of some now and some next year. And IF some other team want to overpay, let them and then the Vikings stay at #11 and #23 and call it a day. Get their QB at #11.

    Was wondering... I see Fiske as DT#3 even though many have him far lower. I think his game translates well to NFL. Clearly B Murphy II is top of my list & Newton might go 1st Rd. But after I think it's muddy. I have Fiske as my DT number two in this draft over Newton, Taylor, Hall & Jenkins who currently are ranked higher. what do you think? I agree with you that Vikings need a difference making 3 tech. I can hear Flores now banging the table if Fiske falls to 3rd round.

    Remember our $10 million dollar QB this year was once the must have trade up at all cost QB for the Jets just a few years back. Instead of reaching for another "can't miss messiah" why not see what KOC can do with him given he's had 5 OCs and 3 teams? We need to defend against what Chicago's picks will be able to do. Like a good edge rusher and cover corner. Here's my question: which would you rather have a man child WR like Moss was? Or, a run for your life QB that eventually gets caught like RG3? I watched Cousins since Mich St. He was the 3rd best QB in the B1G then and his same flaws never got better. We should be thankful the Falcons have him and his salary! Because it is ultimately the best team you can "afford".

  • @johnpreston3706
    @johnpreston3706 Месяц назад

    Vikings QB Cost/Benefit Analysis decision is key here We all pound the table for Vikes trade up to Pk 3 so KOC can get our guy. But if we can't get to pk 3? Don't force a Multiple Number One Picks trade up for 2nd tier QBs Pennix & McCarthy. Desperation is bad strategy. Trading away two or three 1st rounders for QB 4 is reaching. There is real value with Vikings pks 11 & 23. If top 3 QBs are taken at Pks 1-2-3 then Kwesi the Cost Benefit Analysis GM must guide the choice: Door #1) Trade multiple first rounders for Pennix or JJ McCarthy. Door #2) Pk 11 Take CB: Q Mitchell then take QB at Pk 23: Pennix (Ready Now) or JJ McCarthy (Little production but youth upside) My take is "Rookie QB Salary Super Bowl Window" is a real thing. College QB is way easier than NFL QB. Harbaugh did not ask JJ to carry his team vs college defenses. Imagine asking him to throw 35 passes a game vs NFL Cornerbacks next year. Vikings need to get KOC a QB to mold. If all gone at pk 3 then a stud CB or DE at pk 11 and one of the two development QBs: Pennix or McCarthy if either is still there at 23. Slight reach but getting a stud defensive player at 11 eases the pain. SKOL

      Certainly, Maye is the top prospect to most likely need a redshirt year. (Two years might be a stretch.) For what its worth, I like him as the 4th best QB prospect in this draft. I think he has more flaws than the other guys at the top, similar to Penix and Nix. His potential separates him from those two to keep him in the top four.

    I hate the idea of looking at this as an economics decision instead of looking for the best player you can get your hands on. I don't put much credence into the "rookie QB cheat code" philosophy.
    That only works for the Eagles and Niners because they've hit on star talent in every single round of the draft for years and made phenomenal trades/FA acquisitions on top of that. We can't assume that we can do that, we probably can't! .....also even with all that those teams lost in the Superbowl to a star QB who had a mediocre team surrounding him.

    • @intrepidfool
      @intrepidfool Месяц назад

      It makes sense. But only if that rookie QB is a top 12 guy. Saving $40M+ per year to pay other positions is game changing. Of course, the window is small, so better win now before you have to pay the guy…
      So yeah, the ideal situation is to draft Montana/Brady/Mahomes and be a Super Bowl contender for a decade plus. The rookie QB is a realistic fallback option for everyone else.

    😂 Kirk Cousins is a master at ball placement? 😂
    Then why was it 4th and 8 the play after KJ Osborn was open beyond the 1st down marker?
    On MNF, he threw two passes to Charverius Ward in the 1st half!
    Against Carolina, he underthrew Addison by 14 yards then threw a 99-yd pick-6. The 4th and 18 in Buffalo was perfectly placed if he wanted only the Bill to have a chance at catching it instead of Jefferson.
    Kirk's bad throws got Jefferson knocked out of the Indy game twice.
    His accuracy on passes to open receivers in the end zone is particularly bad.
    [Though I give him credit for a beautiful pass to Jefferson that was nullified by holding before the 99-yd pick-6.]

Asking a qb to throw 3 to 4 times more in the NFL isn't an easy task and oh yeah the Vikings aren't running anywhere near what Michigan did so it opens up the fact he's going to take way more sacks and pass for more int's.
