    As a Canadian, the reason why we call the little donuts 'Timbits' is because they are bite size and they come from a little Canadian cafe called 'Tim Hortons' :)
    Also the Cafe Tim Hortons was named after a deceased Canadian Hockey player named 'Tim Horton'

    Canadian here, love NZ - been there 5 times for the fabulous “tramping”. Felt right at home from the moment I arrived - culturally so similar to Canada, much more so than our neighbours to the south.

    Tim Horton was a Canadian ice hockey player who founded Tim Horton's restaurants in 1964. A coffee-and-donuts shop chain emerged. This restaurant took the little bits from the middle of the donut and cooked it. The coffee shop chain is known as "Timmies", or "Tim's". Tim's cooked up the bits and, voila! Timbits.

    Proud Canadian here! I do not use ‘buddy’ as an expression. Friends and relatives that have travelled to New Zealand, loved it, and commented on the friendliness of New Zealanders. A trip is on my bucket list.

      We mainly have gravy on hot chips or cheese, mayo and hot chips called Cheesy Wheezies. I never thought of trying gravy, chips AND cheese. I'll do that next time.

    I went to Japan on a guided tour bus for two weeks and on the second day our tour guide KNEW we were Canadian. We sound exactly like the Americans but... he said we were kinder LOL. It's weird being with Americans and them not apologizing when something they do can be seen as rude. I think that's how he knew.
