Another Fun fact:All the bosses are manifestations of what happened to Father/the player character:
The Flame: you got burned near to death.
The bandaged:You got covered with bandages after the fire
The covering: You get soaked in -pink sauce- Pink paint and cover all of your face in the portaits
The Crystal: Got shattered by how ugly he became as all the 1 Billion mirrors he shattered (And as the boss)
The Jailer as he locked All the doors that leads to different parts of the mansion
And Finally, The Poisoned: Got so drunk that all his memories of the *Incident* and Child torment he did got Completely surpressed.
And mansion represent father and how much in terrible state he is
1:22 you can tell this guy is shocked by how long he took to figure out what to do... I would be as well... And that's why this game is amazing

In the true ending it shows him!
He survived, took off the mask, had a daughter with the maid who loved him, and moved on with his life. (Oh, and made a catchy song about his awful dad) Despite the absolute torment his monster of a father put him through, he prevailed and lived.

@@Dragonsting21 My takeaway is that the ending scene was just a hallucination - given how the story is told (you'll notice the clocks in the drinking scene spinning rapidly to show the increased passage of time), this is one of the few occasions where "it's all just a dream" might actually be the takeaway here.
My take is that the game is an allegory for him reflecting on his guilt before finally committing suicide, finally feeling guilt for the first time in his wretched life. After a lifetime of being surrounded by flattering sycophants and having no problem heaping pain on other people, his last thoughts are on everyone he ever hurt before admitting he deserves to be in hell and dying alone. Since there were some people he didn't kill, he imagines them still being alive, as well as imaging himself being surrounded by the ghosts of all the people he killed.
If nothing else, why would they do the entire song and dance routine before cutting him down?
