I love your apartment. Yes, a small space is challenging. But, you have done such a wonderful job with it! You have a talent for making spaces warm and welcoming. I just moved into a 1 bedroom. I think it’s about 400sq ft. Very soon, my husband and son will be joining me, along with our 2 small dogs. This apt is not laid out nicely, as yours is. We have a 11x13 living area, 11x11 bedroom , short galley kitchen and a huge bathroom. The biggest plus to this place is the large closet in the bedroom. It’s about 7’ long and 3’ deep. There’s a closet at the end of the short hall, for a stacking washer/ dryer. I wish I could find someone that specializes in working with these small spaces. I’m organizational , by nature. But, this is a bit overwhelming.
@Bee-Kind-Baker Think vertical! under bed storage, shelving or bookcases, vertical storage, etc. Get creative using furniture and things in unconventional ways. For example we use a 3 drawer dresser as a coffee/tea station with the top drawer holding all the mugs etc, and the rest for storage of items. My family and I (3 of us) also live in a 1 bedroom. (we gave our teenager the bedroom ) Our first place was under 400sq ft., and we had 2 cats at the time. IKEA expedit/kallax are so helpful as room dividers/storage. Many people sell them second hand as well. Good luck! you can do it 💛
I’m surprised by how big this actually is. We live in a two bedroom unit that looks like it would fit in the living room of this place. The place we just bought is bigger… but not by much. Like the fact this actually has the kitchen in a separate room is surprising.
I grew up in a 69 m² apartment in Spain, we were a family of 4, we had 3 bedrooms (mine was tiny), the living room was tiny too but it worked perfectly for us. We had neighbours downstairs that lived in a smaller 2 bedroom apartment and they were a family of 8... I'm not sure how they did it, but they did and they seemed happy enough! My husband and I live in the country side we have a big plot of land but the house is 44 m² we are more than happy in our beautiful cozy home!
Such a warm beautiful home. Very childhood-friendly? I say that because the best parts of my childhood i remember come from the vibrancy added by books, toys and our room. Creates so much room for imagination and happiness, and in turn creation!
Very Cute Home! I think in the future I also would buy a small 1 bedroom apartment for me and my daughter since is what I could afford, and the idea of giving her the bedroom is good!
Loved this so much. You honestly can't even tell if it is 1 or 4 bedrooms just how practical everything is. Honestly the definition of less is more. What a perfect space. I loved everything about this. This encouraged me to downsize our 3 bedroom that is so expensive. Thank you so much for sharing.
Khrystyne & Nic: This is such a warm, loving, beautiful space! You've done a wonderful job of creating a space that not just works, but really wraps its arms around all the people living there. Reminds me of a little magnet on my refrigerator that says something about food tasting better in small houses. Big homes are nice, but they really do tend to separate everyone! I feel like this quote says it all..... "Love grows best in little houses, with fewer walls to separate, where you eat and sleep so close together. You can't help but communicate, and if we had more room between us, think of all we'd miss. Love grows best, in houses just like this." ❤
My boyfriend and I share a small one bedroom. You can’t even imagine the flack we get from people who just can’t imagine making use of a small space. It’s an accommodation we made due to the economy; but also a philosophy we share about making do with what you have. It forces you to really consider what you actually need to be happy. We are so careful about buying things because we know we don’t have the room to accumulate random stuff. I’d honestly want my kids to grow up with the same mentality. So kudos to this woman’s ability to pull this off with such style and grace.
this is such a warm, inviting home, and it feels so spacious for what it is! they've done a great job. If it was my space, the only thing I would change is add some bookshelves/wardrobes either side of the murphy bed to make it blend in and look like it's part of a built in wall of storage along that entire wall. I think that way it'd stick out less when not in use, plus they would gain some additional storage, which seems like a plus!! Love the ohilosophy about toys and stuff and how intentional she seems to be. As a mum of a toddler I can relate, and it is very hard to limit the amount of things entering the home. Well done on all fronts!!
thank you for this! we thought of doing bookshelves there but the dimensions of the layout of the room would have made it a little cramped. My sister has one with storage and loves it!
I really like the place where the mugs are displayed. I could see what she persued about the house. Creating an enjoyable place to relax with her family.
@yaeln18 these are such kind and generous words. Thank you thank you so much! It's been my desire to create a space where we can be adults and our kids can be kids. That's not always easy so hearing that from you means the words. Thank you!
I admire your lifestyle. I realized years ago our family of 7 did not need a mega mansion. It was okay for us to share a 2 and a half bath 4 bedroom home. We got our house for a great bargain! Everyone had to learn to share, be neat and be efficient with our space. We made our large yard child-friendly and our basement teenage friendly. And we stayed put, kept up our home and paid it off! With no mortgage we were able to help our children get through college and training. Still here with plenty of space for our grandchildren!
@strawberrydragon645 this is so inspiring and encouraging! I love reading stories of how people intentionally live with less and reject the ideas society puts on us about whats necessary and what we have to have to thrive where we are. Your home sounds like its full of love and joy and how amazing that now its filled with all your grandbabies. Thank you again for sharing!
It just makes sense to give the kids the room doesn’t it? I just can’t imagine doing dishes, cleaning up and having date night/movie night with my partner if the kids are sleeping in the living room 😂 Also with the kids in the living room it means you can never have guests over stay too late etc. I don’t know but it makes perfect sense to me especially since my kids go to bed by 8pm. Beautiful home!
@truthwillalwayswin thank you so much! we have never had a TV and I don't know if we ever will. We do have a projector that we pull out for movie nights with the kids or sports games that we invite friends for and the kids think its the best most special thing ever.
This is lovely! I love it. I feel I raised my kids similarly, although we had a small 2 bedroom home, but it was likely a similar size. They are now teenagers, and well, I’m sure there are people out there who do not fall flat like I have, as a mother of teens… But everything changed when they developed independence from me. We now have a larger (but still small) 3 bedroom home, but it’s very separate, my kids don’t want to share spaces at all. At all. So I feel likely this will be something they cherish while their little ones are smol, but it will need to change with time. Unless you parent flawlessly, and get lucky in personality with how your kids turn into teens. Cos teens, they are a whooooole other kettle of fish.
I love that it works for this family. Creative solutions to such a small space. Not having a bedroom would be a deal-breaker for me and my GF because my mother lives with us and she has taken over the living room, dining room, and the rest of the general living space--and doesn't leave it for 18 hours a day. She doesn't comprehend keeping the general space clutter free or even clean, let alone the idea of privacy.

@@blabliblofulI feel depressed with enough space at home for the whole family but stuck in the car-centric American suburbs with no place to go and nothing to do. I’ll trade my much larger than your apartment house and live in your flat in Paris enjoying day to day life in a beautiful historic culturally rich city full of third spaces to have a rich life experience!
@@jukes243this is what we also do. We also love places like Ikea for inspiratión. Our youngest daughter's bedroóm is 3by 3meters wide and 3 meters lengtht. We have a grow àlong bed, it can be opened to lengtht until 2 meters. And we use the walls to hàng things too. Moving up creates space and texture,.
I really enjoyed your use of space. It was a good idea to put the kids in the primary bedroom. Then using the Living room as a shared space for your bedroom with Murphy bed. I love what you've done with the space. ❤🎉
Love this. She was so easy to listen to and the set-up for a family of four really works for them.
Such a lovely person. Making sure her children come first. She and her husband have created a gorgeous home. I watch these videos and think the bathrooms are not small, it's what we are used to in the UK.
I'm overwhelmed by your positive attitude for things. A wonderful role-model of a teacher. Your husband must be so cooperative too. Your kids are very lucky to have you guys as parents.
What a beautiful lady! I love her spirit! She is very intentional with her space. Organized yet doesn’t feel controlling. Everything of what they all need and what is important to them while living within their means. You can tell how loving and calm they are as a family. It’s refreshing to see. All the best to them. 🙂
One of the reasons I love this channel is the creativity in which people use their space. This is beautifully done.
i like how they decorated and it still looks like a home.
This reminds me of the 2 bedroom I grew up in NYC. My sibling & I shared a room, and of course my parents had their own room, but the nostalgia of growing up in an apartment while watching this video was great. I love apartment living. It’s so under appreciated. ❤
I like all the colors from the rugs, coffee mugs,, and books. And the woods...shelves, piano, and kitchen. The cabinet art station must be so fun for them, and you are close enough for "Mommy, look what I drew!" Its a warm and cozy place. Great job
So cute. Love that the kids hv the bedroom, so smart ❤ I still have one of my childhood dresser/ desk and I’m 55. I’ve been able to keep utilizing it, from myself, to my son, daughter and now grandson❤
"Depending on who's measuring" is so relatable 😂 cozy home ❤❤
This woman needs her own show.❤
I need my own silencer listening to her
Wow... I always rant about our small appartaments, while all our friends are in housed. This video is so inspiring. They feel comfy and have just what makes them happy. Super beautiful and functional. Love it!
What a beautiful and cozy space. I love all the books and how your apartment is focused on family time and personal time. It's so refreshing to see a parent prioritizing creativity and education. Great use of space.
@mikaross4671 you are so so kind! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
I really like this apt. The use of space, color and textures is so beautiful. Great job
She's so lovely and resourceful! Her children (and students!) are lucky to have her.
This woman is so amazing. The space is lovely. This family is blessed. One of the best home tours…..
So true …. make space for what makes you happy first, then the rest will follow.
You are such a sweet lady 😭 i grew up in a one bedroom with a family of 4 but it wasnt intentional it was a nightmare and now that I live in my own one bedroom i have made it my oasis and the challenge of doing this for 4 people is crazy 😭 you did an amazing job.
Love how you did your spaces. You are right about not having more stuff and investing in experiences like learning piano.
Welcome to the life of those of us living in studio apts - living in zones - you’ve done a great job for this time in your family’s life - thnx for sharing your home with us 🇨🇦🙏
Keep your childhood dresser as an entryway or living room piece. It will make an excellent storage unit and is a sweet heirloom.😊
I love that in this home a television is not the focal point. They have activities for enrichment and learning instead. I love this!
i think this is the only time ive seen a parent prioritize their children in something like this
I love this. Moreso the idea of it, the intentionality because your space is abundant and reflective of your values❤ Your family is happy!
@iamsiriusstar -- these are such kind thoughtful words. Its always my hope that our space reflects our gratitude and joy to others. thank you!
THIS apt is beautiful! I'm impressed by how they utilized their space. Very creative. Thank you for sharing! 😊
thank you so much!
A piano is ALWAYS the best use of space. 🎹 ❤ Love this space.
Loved this tour and the comment about prioritizing your personal and family values, then designing your space to support those values. Excellent advice!
@zenwintention I'm so glad you enjoyed it!!
their thought process for giving the kids the bedroom is so smart! I love that they have so clearly thought through and considered everything for their home
@hannahjoyhopes I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the kind words!
I think your home is wonderful. There aren’t many people who live in a small home but still make it look practical and cozy, and your home is a prime example that both can work. We live in 54 square meters with a child and a dog, and we also use the living room as a sleeping area. It’s nice to see that it works well elsewhere too 😊
@cavaleevi when we first realized that this was the decision we had made, I felt so panicked. I looked around and no one else was doing this or at least doing it in a way that they felt proud of. YOu are amazing and I'm sure you work so hard to create meaningful memories with your family. Thank you so much for this encouragement -- I'm so glad you felt seen! You aren't alone -- keep on keeping on!
They did a great job of being creative with the space they have. However, this shouldn’t be the norm. People should be able to afford a comfortable home for their families in the cities/ towns they love.
@ElleMS-14 totally agree! Hopefully this tour brings good financial fortune for this teacher to the next generation 🙏🌈🥰💝🍀
Oh perspective. This home looks so comfy I'm honestly envious 😅
One of THE BEST Apt Therapy videos EVER ! WOW ! This woman cheered me for the New Year.! HAPPY NEW YEAR DEAR JASPER FAMILY ! Your home is wonderful and sparkles and is obviously a HAPPY HOME !
@theonlymeaning -- thank you so much!! Happy New Years to you and lots of calm and peace to your space in 2025!
I live in just under 1000 sqf in England. My house regularly gets me down, and I feel sad about our lack of space, but I'm going to try and make some changes to make me feel happier with my home. You have a beautiful family home and a wonderful spirit.
This is a beautiful home! In some way it looks very european😉 They made a good decision about the rooms. The rooms are big and the kids have enough place to sleep and play😊 Lovely family, all the best from Germany to them for the upcoming New year 🍀🥳😊
Yes, I agree. It looks European to me too 😍
What an awesome idea to put the winter clothes in the pouf!!! I must steal it ;)
@eskimoki9630 its been a game changer especially for kids coats I'm holding onto when they grow. you totally should.
what a gorgeous and happy home that she has created. I love it
You've made this small space work so well for your lifestyle - well done!
Well done. So many people who live in huge houses complain about not having enough money. You can live very simply and still enjoy life.
I love it!! Your use of space/storage was so intentional, which shows your ability to be creative, and wise!! Kudos to you, it’s great!❤
@debraglenn7369 thank you so much for these kind words. Small spaces definitely encourage the crazy and creative buried deep inside ;)
There is so much love in this home and most important it is bright ✨
This is the most extraordinary combination of adorableness and organization that I have ever seen.
What a great apartment! Really prioritising what is important to them. Beautifully done.
This proves that we don't need a big house to live happily in a gorgeous space.
@mariaroca5762 this makes me so happy to hear. I'm glad it inspired you!
This is a great use of the space. Love this cute apartment. The Murphy bed is great, and it avoids the discomfort of a fold out bed.
This is the most beautiful home, of any size, I have ever seen. Well done!
The kid's room is darling. You've done a wonderful job with the space
thank you so much! I appreciate that.
God bless them. Didn’t even notice a television anywhere.
Okay, obsessed with the poof holding the coats and winter clothes!!!
Such a stunning space ❤ Their creativity is so evident
What a lovely, stunning looking lady..so many live in large cities, small spaces are exhausting but a fact of life. Nice vid.
I love what you have done! You use creativity, common sense and knowledge of your family's needs now and in the future. Brilliant! ❤
this is such a warm, inviting home, and it feels so spacious for what it is! they've done a great job.
This is incredibly inspirational! And I adore their style. So bright and colorful but still feels grown up.
@yaeln18 these are such kind and generous words. Thank you thank you so much! It's been my desire to create a space where we can be adults and our kids can be kids. That's not always easy so hearing that from you means the words. Thank you!
@KhrystyneJaspers you hit it out of the park!
One space-saving way to have a lot of books is to install a shelf at the top of the wall by the ceiling!
Looks like a great and intentional use of the space they have. I really like how colorful, cozy, and organized the home is!
I think your home is so lovely. It is very colorful, so organized and I love seeing all those books. I can see the heart & joy in this home. ♥️♥️♥️
thank you so much for your kind words
So organized. I love her vibe.
Hey, teach! It's "lie on the ground." Beautiful apartment, well done.
She's extremely smart and intentional with her space. And I love that there is no TV!! A truly creative space.
@truthwillalwayswin thank you so much! we have never had a TV and I don't know if we ever will. We do have a projector that we pull out for movie nights with the kids or sports games that we invite friends for and the kids think its the best most special thing ever.
@@KhrystyneJaspers where did you hide the projector and screen? Lovely home!
@@katliu4521 our projector is actually super small -- like the size of a coke can and we just project it right onto our murphy bed. It's pretty great!
@ amazing! Do you mind sharing what projector it is? I’m currently considering swapping out a tv for a projector in my new home!
hey, your house is so cozy, tidy and aesthetic....i love it.
what lovely home!I love her organization and decoration skills!
I absolutely LOVE that there no televisions in the home!! ❤
I love this lady, she is awesome! This was such a great video. I loved seeing their family's creativity.
thank you so much!! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Wow so inspiring, thanks for sharing. All The best for you and your loved ones!
Darling use of space. I would still need my own closet with a door, snooze chair and window where I can escape from time to time.
2:27 my favorite quote 🤍
And I say this, because, you blink, and they go from being this small to being 15 and 17.
I love everything about your home it’s absolutely beautiful and don’t let anyone tell you it’s not it’s none of their business how you go about raising your family
You have created a lovely home, comfortable, compact, modest, creative, warm and it's clear that you have a healthy attitude to life and family and what's important. Good for you! cheers
