I think the Base 911 is the sweet spot, anything above is just really embellishment that while ultimate pace may be improved doesn’t really add anything to enjoyment.
The price on these things is ridiculous! Base Carrera is all you need for the road. Unfortunately it is PDK only. Hopefully a manual Carrera T is coming soon at a reasonable price.
Only time will tell if this version of 911 is significantly better. Everytime a newer variant is released the automotive press proclaims the new excellence. People that order this model want to be reassured it is worth the expense. I think the chassis upgrade is the biggest change but not sure if it is worth it for daily driving. To each their own. An yep, there are tons of people who ordered this car before this video was released, and are still waiting for it now. Or just got told no.
@@pauln0371 the GTS is about black accents though, so anyone who specs another wheel is not really speccing a GTS, same with the interior, needs to be Racetex, if you go leather you are kind of going against the car. The wheels arent GTS wheels anyway, they are Turbo S wheels.
Great review man! I had just a final question about my order, would you recommend FAL (front axle lift) on this 992 GTS or is it not needed? Is there sufficient front clearance?
I had the same question. As the suspension (SPASM) is already 10mm lower and the front fascia is lower (and longer) I think FAL is a must. Sadly yet another option that I will tick (mine is due q2 2022).
@@JUFFAIR101 you could cancel the lowered pasm but it also deletes the helper springs. I actually think it’s a core part of the GTS identity so I kept it how it was and added FAL
Cool....another 911 that doesn’t drive any different than a 992 C2S! Seriously, now that all 911’s have the same turbocharged 3.0L and are wide bodies the GTS moniker is just 95% marketing
not true, you have to drive one to get it, I have just ordered my 3rd GTS, they are a special car, for someone who cant get a GT3 allocation and wants RWD.
@@davidkn you’re half right .....they are for someone who CANNOT get a GT3 allocation. I’ve driven every generation of GTS and non GTS 997/991 versions and back when they were actually something exclusive ...the only wide body/rear drive 911 while every other rear drive version was a narrow body, and the naturally aspirated engine had the X51 treatment which meant it actually revved higher, sounded better, had higher horsepower etc. There is absolutely nothing here that cannot be specced on a 992 Carrera S except the rear helper springs
@@jameswillard1 well ive owned said cars rather than just driving them back to back, the X51 was just a power upgrade, which this GTS gets too (which on the 991.2 sounded better than the S, who knows with this version at the moment), the same 30BHP it always does. Theres the Turbo S centre lock wheels that cant be specced on an S, it has the turbo brake setup, again, cant be specced on a normal carrera, is also 10mm lower again. So maybe do a bit more research.
I agree. This gen, if you want a non-Turbo or GT version of 911, the sweet spot is probably the Carrera S if you're a bit more hardcore, or the base Carrera if you want a more comfortable ride. The GTS is basically a well-optioned CS with a lot of Alcantara.
@@HiddenWen apart from the better brakes, better suspension and more power (and better sound) of the GTS….. by your definition, the Turbo, will just be a better optioned GTS
These vehicles vary in details minimally? The variations are a bit silly to me? This is basically a Carrera with chassis control and adjustable dampers for a significant amount more than a Carrera S. Purchasing almost seems like the personification of a fool with money?
What’s a T then? A dressed up Carrera? The GTS gets better brakes, better suspension and more power, that’s not dressing up. It’s a Turbo without so much power but keeping the RWD to make it fun.
@@davidkn it’s a great 911 no doubt but $150k? It is ridiculously overpriced for a tarted up Carrera S. The 991.2 GT3 Touring, an all-time great 911, was $150k 2 years ago.
@@gregs8685 it’s not overpriced at all! If you add the options you get on the car (which most people option anyway, or would if going for a GTS), it’s not much different and you’re then getting the power increase, better brakes and suspension too. If you want a base S, then yes it’s more expensive, but it’s not aimed at those people. You also can’t compare it to the ridiculously low price of the GT3, as no one can get allocations for that! Porsche could sell the GT3 for 30% more and people would pay it. My specced up GTS I have on order is £152k, but I do have Paint to sample also which is expensive. The car is worth the money though. I test drove an Aston Martin F1, same price at £153k, not as good as the GTS terrible interior and infotainment in comparison. The Porsche is a bargain for what you get compared to the competition.
Basically someone talking about the car. Could have done that in the office. The point of being on the track is to see, feel and hear the car when it’s being pushed, not listen to someone having a chat surely?
I'm sorry but I found it hard to focus on the actual video cuz I kept thinking about how Chester Cheeto his grille was... no shade but I thought that whole Austin Powers bad teeth were popular in England thing had dissolved into history... maybe I'm incorrect. I've driven quite a few and they've taken the challenge out of driving quickly. So any moronic rich kid with money could get close to lap times previously only dreamt of. I call them video game cars. Turn the wheel and step on go pedal to go and brake to stop. The car does absolutely everything. No talent or experience needed. I'd much rather manhandle a 60s or 70s Italian car at half the pace and 5 times the excitement.
What do you think the sweet spot in the 911 range is?
Gt3 because is goes up on value !
all 911 Carreras are sweet, just to brag with the variants.

The GTS doesn't need the Racing seats IMO. For the same reason a touring doesn't require it, neither does this car. Those racing seats are painful
