I have been eaten up this content. Starting my own low-voltage business and this channel has helped me fill in the gaps of my knowledge almost over night. Can't say it enough, priceless info. Much appreciated, sir!
This is GREAT info. Thank you. I moved into to a house that had the wiring all installed for an HD-TVI system that would run to the basement (engine room of the house). Local security guys when they see that it is not wiring that would support an IP system have deterred me from using this wires stating that its outdated tech. They have suggested to just get a wifi system and move on. I would really appreciate your guidance here. I am debating between installing a HD-TVI system where the DVR and monitors would be in the basement (not actively being watched by anyone) and just use the app for surveillance when needed vs. installing a wifi system. This is you average home user, not very tech savy that is looking for a user friendly and convenient way to monitor the outside of the house. Thank you again for your help
Thank you & thanks for watching! I guess the answer to that question depends on if your router is in that same spot down there? If so, I would go HD-TVI & connect the DVR to your router. Then you’d have remote viewing capabilities & it won’t matter that it’s downstairs. If your router is not down there, you still have options to make the HD-TVI work, but it would take a few extra steps.
Thanks for the video again, your perspective is really useful when making these decisions! Is it more difficult to configure hd tvi cameras to be primarily viewed from an app on your phone?
Awesome. I’m glad you’re finding them useful! As far as the phone app goes, completely depends on the brand. With Alibi the app is really easy to set up.
great video. i have been looking for a good camera for outside my business front door. i am looking for something with 2 way audio and would prefer HD-TVI. is there anything available that you would recommend, or am i just overthinking this, do i really need the audio
Thanks! Most wired systems have one way audio cameras available, but two way audio is a little more rare. I find in the business setting, most people think the audio is a good idea & then they never use it. Those cameras (with audio) can be quite a bit more (cost wise), so my advice based on your comment, would be to skip the audio. Alibi has some great 5MP or 8MP systems available on the HD-TVI side.
Thank you and I really appreciate your videos. Ok I have a question if you don’t mind answering it. I am having a house built and I am somewhat confused. If it was your home would you recommend installing a wi-if system Or the HD hardwire system that you are referencing in this video? Thank you and great job very educational.
You’re very welcome & thanks for watching (& commenting). The answer to your question is, it depends. Are you a smart home person or just straight up looking for the best security. If you’re just looking for the best security, go for a wired system. If the answer is smart home, the answer gets more complicated.
@@GeorgeLangabeer George than you for responding so quickly and the answer is I am looking for a solid dependable system and as long as I can have an app like the Albi app then I am good I have used ADT for years but after watching your videos my new home will not have an alarm system such as ADT. So do I need a smart home…no as long as the app can warn me of a possible intrusion I am good. Does that help?

So both are hard-wired(IP and HDTV-I) and in my opinion isn't a clean look, even if it's just one cable. I know you feel hard-wired is better but if I want a complete clean look with no cables at all coming from my cameras, do you recommend any wifi systems, especially if I have a strong network?
Wifi cameras have a power cord? So you’re one cable problem is always going to be a thing unless you go battery powered. & I’m never going to recommend going battery only. Unfortunate that you’d allow one cable to prevent you from the best solution.
@@GeorgeLangabeer I don't have a problem with the cable, I just don't think it's a clean look, especially if you put these cameras on a house that is bigger. Do you suggest different ways of hiding the cable? What if a thief cuts the cable? I'm sure there are ways you can hide the cables, right?
Hello, from Bulgaria. Sorry about my english... Everyting good, but can you tell us please, how to record on HDTVI system, 25 frames per second on resolution bigger than 1080p? I have been not seen that recorder.... I'have IP surveillance system - 9 cameras 2 mp, and 3 newer 4 mp. All thay work on 25 fps, and record ono that fps. This is most important for me. Thank you!

Straight up no BS information. Refreshing.
Also like the question and answer format.
What if any, are the distance constraints for HD-TVI?
Thanks for that!
HD-TVI distances: approximately 1200 feet for video, approximately 300 feet for power.

Yes. Watch the installation video on Tuesday.

Appx. cost for Alibi system? 2400 sf one story home. Thanks!
