Tuas's been winning since High School. Maybe even since Pop Warner. . And everyone keeps saying, " let's see what happens when he faces an elite defence". But he already did that this year against the Bills. The Bills were on a roll and were crushing evrerybody both offensively and defensively and were doing that to Miami too. But in the fourth quarter, Tua made the plays and Allen didn't. It's like all these commentators forget that.

Tua is the only QB in the NFL who completed 80% of his passes in four or more games, and three of those was without McDaniel and Tyreek, with the worst O Line in NFL history, and a head coach who despises him. Also, of the 6 years Tyreek has been with KC, the most receiving yards he's ever had was 1,479 in 2018. As it stands, Tyreek is at 1,104 receiving yards this 2022 season with Tua at the helm! Contrary to popular belief even among many other so-called "experts" who should know better, Tua demonstrated his capabilities from the very beginning of his career in Maimi, when behind the worst OL, playing with among the worst RBs corps, and with receivers who had among the worst separation in the league, he was able to garner among the best completion percentages within the narrowest of windows to make his throws.
People complain that in his first 2 years, most of Tua's passes were short to intermediate throws, but that is only because he didn't have the time for plays to develop downfield before he had to get rid of the ball. Ironically, when he did have time to throw downfield, he had among the highest completion percentages for the deep pass, which is a testament to how well he was able to perform in the midst of among the worst conditions possible. That's not to mention playing for a defensive minded coach who made it known that he wanted to get rid of him in favor of either Watson or Brady. Virtually any other QB who would have had to play in such conditions would not have been able to achieve what Tua did, and I believe the experience only helped Tua to be able to achieve what he is achieving now in much better conditions, even when there is still plenty of room for improvement with the Dolphin OL.

Here’s my take: the last two seasons for Tua the scheme and playmakers around him were no level of what is finally on the team. Waddle came last season but before that it was just Gesicki. His running game is still non-existent. Now they have added Armstead to help this line and they found a gem in Shell…. I like the way the offense looks and I give Tua just as much credit as I give Hill. That combination has taken the league by storm and when u add Waddle, Gesicki, Wilson, Mostert, Sheffield, and others this offense is by far one of the most dangerous. Not to mention Tua is taken a huge step this season especially at the midway point.

Can’t blame Herbert because the Chargers are failing him? Why isn’t there the same energy for Tua? He was 13-8 in his first two seasons despite having a HISTORICALLY bad oline, wide receivers with the least amount of separation, no consistent running game, and a coach who didn’t believe in him. Yes Herbert would ball on this Dolphins squad. He also would’ve fallen flat on his face with the hand Tua was dealt.

The inconsistencies in these arguments is ridiculous.
It's obvious that the dude arguing against Tua, either doesn't watch all 22, or as I still refer to as coaches film, or just doesn't understand it.
These arguments for Herbert & his #'s etc. Are pointless.
Philip Rivers was putting up top qb #"s year in& yr out.
What exactly did that amount to?
It's so blatantly obvious that those who have been critical of Tua before he even played a game, care far too much about being right on their arm chair evaluations & not being man enough to just admit when they may have been wrong, and eat a lil Crow.
You'll earn a lot more respect from your listeners, if you cared more about what is actually happening on the feild as opposed to what you were expecting.
(Not saying to crown him or anything, way too early, but he definitely deserves recognition for his play this season and also the sheer fact that when he starts & finishes a game he's 12-5 the past 2 yrs.
He's leading the league in many different categories & is #1 across the board in every statistical category when facing man coverage.
Yes, he has Tyreek Hill but for some reason he gets judged differently than all the greatest qbs & HOF qbs who played with HOF wr's and/or perennial all pro's.
With the exception of probably Brady, albeit he had Moss for a few yrs, but didn't get a ring with him in the undefeated regular season.
But, ffs. Look at Peyton Manning. He had Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark at TE, and went from Marshall Faulk to Edgerrin James at RB.
Plus, they always had a crafty slot type of possession reciever.
Montana, had Rice, Taylor, Clark & Roger Craig in the backfield.
Elway didn't win till he had a running game with Davis, but he always had great recievers. From the 3 Amigos, to Rod Smith, Shannon Sharp, McCafrey.
Aikman had, not only 1 of the best O'limes in NFL history & Emmitt Smith, but also Michael Irving & a perfect complimentary reciever in Alvin Harper. And Jay Novachec & Mooss Johnson don't get talked about enough as being a big part of that offense.
If I had more time I could go on. I'd also add that Marino actually never had the greatest Wr's. He made Mark Duper & Clayton turn from above avg recievers to all pro's. Then an aging Irving Fryor, possession reciever in OJ McDuffie, aging Keth Byers & Jackson.
I even gained some respect for Keyshawn this morning who finally got off his Tua hate train, because even he couldn't deny what his eyes were seeing & what the #'s are supporting.
But, your ego aside and don't be a Skip Bayless.

Joel’s argument is flawed. You compare franchise players compared to what is available not what isn’t. Paolo is considered a franchise player for the magic because top ten players are not available, and compared to available players he either higher ceiling or is a better player. That’s how you should compare Tua. If compare tua to available qb he is a franchise qb, because the guys he’s naming who are better will never be available anyway.

  • @homespundogg2154

I hate how all of you missed the most important part about Tua and what makes him a franchise QB. His stone cold amazing in money situations. He's great on 3rd downs and great in the 4th quarter. No one brought up his elite pocket presence (which burrow does not have). No one brought up his elite anticipation and accuracy. You just sit there and state that Herbert or Burrow would thrive in this Miami offense, but they wouldn't be putting up Tua's numbers. Because they fundamentally play QB different. Herbert and Burrow would take more sacks, they would throw more INTs and they would use this offense as it was designed horizontally instead of how Tua is doing it vertically because none of those other two have Tua's elite anticipation.

Cincy beat the titans 16-13 in the playoffs last year wouldn't say burrow won that game.. tannehill throwing 3 or 4 picks didn't help either or Tennessee wins that game easy.. and the Herbert argument stops at the fact that he loses games to inferior teams.. last year getting blown out by the Texans.. then losing to the raiders even tho he played a phenomenal 4th qtr the other 3 he was pretty crappy.. the chargers are a very talented team.. oline weapons.. his defense and coaching are average at best but he can't put up more than 20 points at home vs the chiefs? He loses 38-10 to Jax? I'm over the Herbert talk.. he can make throws but so did Jay Cutler..u gotta have it when the chips are on the table..I haven't seen it yet.. Burrow gets credit and he's a baller.. but again last year besides the chiefs.. they kinda lucked out in a down year for the division and playing the raiders and titans in the 1st 2 rounds... this year they're behind Baltimore and 1-3 in their division so we'll see how this plays out.. it's only year 3 and there's plenty of time to have this debate down the road

It's hilarious that you give a quarterback Justin Herbert who is a dunk off King who is not done anything in this league except produce hollow stats and no productive monumental wins and put him as a franchise quarterback whereas all he does is lose when a game is significant. I'll take a down field gunner with Montana like accuracy who wins at an 80 percent clip over Herbert a poor man's Ken O'Brien any day

Simple facts Tua is a winner and Herbert is a loser. Herbert is below .500 and has won nothing. In fact, when he had a chance to get the Chargers in the playoffs he got blown out by the Texans. What has Herbert accomplished besides putting up meaningless stats on a losing team.
