I can see Barry’s reasoning for not wanting that big contract despite his opinion that he is a top 10 QB. Omar’s opinion doesn’t make much sense to me. Pay him despite the fact that he has concerns enough about him to say he’s 14 on the list. If you believe he is 14 and have concerns, why not let him play the option?

I would give Tua a new 3 year contract starting this season. 150 million 100% guaranteed. It’s fair for everyone. 50 Million a year.
What's fair is 45 million for 1 year plus the 23 million for the 5th year option as opposed to 150 million guaranteed without knowing.. it's franchise suicide if it doesn't work this year. Tua has no play he will show up and like it
Mr Jackson I have so much more respect for you with your QB ranking and the logic you portrayed in your description.
Barry should use advanced metrics like QBR or EPA/play instead of passer rating when evaluating QB efficiency as they more accurately measure the QB's contribution to each play rather than the total outcome of every pass which is also affected by receiver drops/tips to defenders/YAC. Passer rating also completely ignores running success and opponent defensive strength, while penalizing throw-aways and spiking the ball to stop the clock more than taking a sack and equally to an off-target throw to a defender who fails to intercept it.
While I agree that Cousins typically gets underrated, for his career (excluding seasons where he hasn't started more than 5 games) , he has 4 seasons with a QBR in the 60s and 5 in the 50s, which shows he's a little above average. Guys like Mahomes, Allen, and Dak have all put up multiple 70+ QBR seasons over the past 4 years.
Cousins' 2020 season was both his 2nd highest passer rating and 2nd lowest QBR season, helped out by over 45% of his passing yards coming from YAC.
Tua's 2022 season had a nearly identical passer rating but his QBR was about 15 points higher, managing to crack 70+. He averaged a few more yards/game but over 2 more air yards and 0.6 less YAC per completion, ending with nearly the same total air yards for the season despite having over 700 fewer yards on 116 fewer passing attempts

In 23 season Tua lost to Buffalo twice, Philadelphia, Tennessee, Baltimore, and Kansas City twice. Tua took a massive dump on the field the last three games of the year. He didn’t beat anyone good. I think the only time in his career that he beats someone really good was Baltimore one year and Buffalo once. Plus the injury factor. I’d give Tua a 3 year contract stating this season. 150 million 100% guaranteed. It’s fair for everyone.

If Tua had San Francisco defense; Tua would’ve won the superbowl. Patrick and Prudy defense carried both quarterbacks last season. Mike McDaniel defense need to be better. Tua get no defensive help from us.

Last 3 games offense 32 possessions 5td's 2fg's 12 punts 6 turnovers (5 int's 1fumble) 5 turnovers on downs.. avg 13.6 points but everybody blames the defense.. Keep making excuses..

Having Rodgers, Cousins, Hurts, Lawrence, Goff, Herbert even Stroud. Tua had a better season and played a harder schedule. But everyone has fallen in love after one year.

Tua came back in with a concussion and won us that game vs Buffalo. Played good soldier and went out again 4 days later on turf. He’s given his all to this team also. Miami, always gonna F things up SMH
He also got hurt against Buffalo in 2021 when the worst O-Line in the league decided not to touch the edge rusher on his blind side, who proceeded to break his ribs
He beat buffalo's practice squad and didn't even play that good at all.

But a 3 year extension gives him a 4 year 190 m. With some sign bonus would be smart. Then he renegotiates at 31 with hopefully a championship and he gets his money with a higher cap and average

2. The Dolphins offer him a low-ball contract, which he rejects.
3. Tua requests a trade.
4. The front office declines to trade but the damage is done.
5. ends up in Minnesota.
6. The Dolphins then seek another young, unproven draft pick or an often-injured veteran quarterback.
7. Chris Grier keeps his job
8. McDaniel gets a extension but is fired after two seasons
