I inherited my dad‘s Stihl blower. Dad really loved it. I’m left-handed so it tries to suck my jeans. It sucks from the right side. When I worked at home depot, they told me to go mark down a blower to use out in the garden area. I picked the echo and started using it And the department head at first had a calf. But after he used it one time, he changed his mind. It starts every time. It just works. Everybody liked it.
Mr. Dactyl. I look so forward to all your videos.. You and the boys (young men) do such an outstanding job of educating and entertaining me. Y'alls skits are far more entertaining than anything coming out of Follywood. Thank you so much for putting a smile on my face so often.
That Kohler 16HP motor is a real work horse. My father had an Ariens GT16 that we mowed a couple of acres with. After my father passed away, my nephew took it up North and mowed his grass for years and finally traded it in on another piece of lawn equipment. The mower was GREAT but the mower deck transmission was a piece of junk. Thanks for sharing, as it brought back some memories. John
Nice equipment Tim, I just started my arsenal myself, you got me back into landscapeing again after watching your videos. I hope we can meet someday, you taught me a lot
When I was a landscaper we had 2 Toro Commanders. They worked great. After they stopped making them we eventually sold them. All of our other snow blowers were Toro's. We also used mostly Walker mowers. Always had 4 on hand.
I just bought a Snow Commander. Hardware shop owner also told me that despite being awesome, they stopped making them, because they were too heavy for 1 guy to get it in and out of a pickup.
I think Teryl’s videos are the only ones on RUclips that I can watch from beginning to end without “double tapping “ on the screen- no lie! Shoot the other day I caught myself watching the Pachinko Game video he made, and I know nothing about Pachinko! Teryl, Keep continuing to be a LEGEND
Just bought a new Ariens Ikon 42xd and love it so far. I just bought a Ballard industries advanced chute blocker and cant wait to get it installed. Ariens makes great machines, I dont blame you for keeping those older Ariens tractors they're really nice tough tractors.
The Ryobi edger, I have basically the same unit except mine is a weed eater. The power head looks exactly like the one here. It has a split shaft where you can easily remove the lower part and attach other tools such as an edger, trimmer etc. I bought mine new back in the 90s and it still runs great to this day.
When Hurricane Ike came through Houston in 2008, we were out of power for 18 days :-O We had that exact generator and a setup like yours with a manual transfer switch. We put a window AC in the kitchen window and ran a large extension cord to it due to the draw. That generator ran non-stop for over two weeks stopping only for a couple oil changes and gassing it up. Ran the window unit and everything in the house fine except for the washer and dryer, so we had to use the laundromat. Good little unit.
I'm a F-525 fan, big time. I've got a Power-Flo bagger for mine and have used it for years. Two and a half quarts of oil runs the engine and the hydro and thats it.
Another great video and all of his equipment is pretty cool...I love the behind the scenes stuff....REMEMBER, Taryl doesn't mow GRASS but he sure does release the GAS !!! (that yoga video with him & Jr. still haunts my dreams ....😱😱😱
I've got a McCulloch Super 55A (no bar and missing the left side cover) and have been searching for parts to complete it. This thing is pretty heavy. It's made of magnesium and aluminum, as yours probably is. I'd love to have electric start on it, but think it's heavy enough without it lol I really like these old machines. I'm also working on a 2 stroke engine powered flame thrower ccompressor. It charges the air tank with up to 2,500 psi. Pretty cool. Was last used in the Korean conflict. The engine and compressor unit are in good working condition, but it needs parts to operate properly. Been searching, without luck, for information on it. Really enjoy the videos you create. I think we graduated high school the same year too. Thanks for the entertainment and good info that you provide. Peace.
Thanks for the tour. I like your hoard of power equiptment because not only did you repair the items, you store them in a nice clean area. Don't know why you don't keep oil in the generator...that is just one less thing to add to it once you need it. I have one and make sure only to run non ethanol fuel and run it dry once I am finished with a use. Interesting electric start chainsaw what an oddity. I remember the first 4 stroke chainsaw I saw...intersting but I will take a 2 stroke anyday. Now do a tour about your back shop salvage lot with all the cast off junkers.
You would kinda think that being a mower repair man that Taryl would have the biggest and baddest tractors and equipment, but I like how he just has and uses regular old stuff that he came across over the years because it was cheap and just simply flat out works and is reliable.
Your show is pretty good. I'm a retired college professor and can fix or build anything, and I mean anything. Now you have me saying, Here's your dinner. Continued success to you my man.
I love the vintage equipment, great stuff. I would cover the duct tape on the leaf duty Ariens with Gorilla tape. It's stronger and it would match the black chute.
I've got 2, F525's and I absolutely love them. I drove a 110 miles to get a bagger system for it and I pick up all my leaves and grass clippings with it. And unlike a ZTR mower that digs a basketball hole where you turn around, the F525 is smooth as glass.
Yea Taryl, some of the best deals are for equipment i too have swaped for labor, and i have a good friend that owns a recycling business.People throw away some really good outdoor equipment that needs little to restore it to like new condition.over the years i have bought ,lawn and garden tractors ,tillers ,tow behind mowers, hedge and weed trimmers, chainsaws,Generators, and outboard motors that needed little in parts to repair.Hard to believe what some people throw away! They have forgotten the old expression"Use it up -wear it out-make it last,or go without"!!! Now THERE"S YOUR DINNER!!!
I bought a Dolmar saw from a customer of mine for 50 bucks. I bought a new gas and bar oil cap and a new air filter... Saw runs like a champ. Had a problem this spring with it , but after cleaning up the carbutraitor..got her running like new... I still love my Jonsered 630 Super best of all(26 years old)
I've got a trimmer with the same engine as your Ryobi edger. Once took it to a repair shop that sells Stihl. They were all snooty and told me I should just junk it and get something good. Made me so mad I fixed it myself. That was like 20 years ago and the thing still runs great. This attitude of some shops like they're too good to touch stuff that didn't cost an arm and three legs is one big reason I now do all my own repair work.
I got the same craftsman blower vac, mine is black bought it when i was 16, about 1986 or 87. still run it weekly. only have replaced fuel lines 1 time sparkplug twice. only trouble I have had is trying to find the filter element sponge.
Wow, always something interesting. Your awesome Taryl. Best ever on RUclips. I agree on not liking cutting grass, but since I got my Honda HRX217HYA, with that Honda GCV200 I enjoy mowing.
Just a FYI on the lithium battery usage on the chainsaw. You can use RC car lipos but the voltages are gonna be odd. You can use a 2s,3s or 4s, with voltages being 7.2,11.1 and 14.4. Keep in mind, RC lipos don’t need lots of heat. And you will need a special lipo charger. The chargers can be expensive but cheaper chargers are out there. Also, make sure you run a voltage indicator on the balance plug to keep an eye on voltages, cause if you run a lipo below it’s limit of voltage, it’s junk. Hope this helps with the lipo/lithium battery if your gonna use them.
iv got a early 80's international cub cadet 682 with a kohler twin kt 17 i love that thing runs like an old chevy i got a early 90's ingersoll 3014 with under 600hr on it with a kohler m14 for free guy said it had a blown hydro line turned out the key on the flywheel to pump adapter was worn out the vibration broke the torque arm and the pump spun around put a hole in the heat exchanger so i soldiered it up got a key and fabed a new torque arm putting it all back together next week the deck is really heavy duty with that meg-mo setup
I like that stihl saw. I used to have an old Stihl 028AV Super Wood Boss, 22” bar, then gave it to a friend. He got it running, that thing cuts wood like there’s no tomorrow.
I just picked up F525 with a seized engine. I couldnt find any breaks in the block but it was seized. I tore it all apart and was underneath ready to remove engine bolts and I removed the electric clutch. I found the bearing in the clutch shattered and it was holding the engine in place locking it up. I now have to put it all back together to see if any damage to engine from this. Im not sure if you have worked on yours but it is a PITA!!!! Hardest mower I have ever seen to work on.
I "inherited" a 44 year old push blower from a neighbor. Has a 5HP Briggs with a Pulsa-Jet carb on it. After about 30 dollars in parts and a bunch of time it runs like new at 3600 RPM. Best "freebie" I ever got!
That McCulloch chainsaw is great, I hope to get my first one soon, I end up reaching for my Echo before my Stihl for farm work, but for falling a big tree the Stihl does good. Those McCullochs are hard to find, but I've never seen an electric start. Nice!
I bought my dad a snow commander used 10 years ago and it's a beast...the only bad things about it are it's heavy(still very easy to maneuver) and it's loud!!! I got myself the Honda single stage, originally the 520 model and now the 720 model and they are so much quieter. Also I think the paddle design throws the snow better, plus on the 720 mine has the controls on the handle...My meaning is if you can get a 720 take it!!! I've also got a similar Echo Power Pruner, it's the orange/fiberglass unit like yours and it's awesome. Makes trimming trees so much easier. I've also got my inverter generator but I've never used it for myself. I lent it to people during power outages. Pretty much all my equipment now is used....some had issues and some I found on fb at a good price.
like your ariens tractors, i always liked working on those when i did repair work, I have a couple cub cadet tractors i keep going, a 1811 and a 1872 super. cant beat a heavy shaft drive.
Taryl,I have a 1978 craftsman 2 ,gt18 with the opposed twin, horizontal, engine and electric power take off,but the wiring harness is a nightmare, which murry model did you use to replace the electric on your airiens?

just bought Space Shuttle t shirt...Love it !
Watched every minute, didn't even know it
Pays to have ingenuity to retro different equipment into your own , one of a kind. Keep up the good work.
These longer videos are the best. I can listen to Taryl for hours. Only thing missing is a couple Hamms.
Who in the hell would dislike this video or any videos they make. These video’s are great , I’ve learned so much

Great stuff Tayrl, especially the electric start McCulloch chainsaw I think that was probably the coolest piece of equipment I've ever seen.
That Kohler 16HP motor is a real work horse. My father had an Ariens GT16 that we mowed a couple of acres with. After my father passed away, my nephew took it up North and mowed his grass for years and finally traded it in on another piece of lawn equipment. John
Great video. The two mowers for cutting the grass was hilarious. And I didn't think a single stage blower would out perform a dual stage blower.
My little Toro Ccr outperforms most 2 stage blowers. Love that 2 stroke sound too, theyre awesome.
Thanks Taryl for showing the MCCullough Elec start that's pretty cool. Got some nice tractors to.
thanks.
I really appreciate the information on the snowblower thank you Taryl
Nice equipment Tim, I just started my arsenal myself, you got me back into landscapeing again after watching your videos. I hope we can meet someday, you taught me a lot
Best damn mechanic on RUclips, PERIOD
Enjoyable vid. Some of the old stuff is better than new, even though we call it old junk .
Taryl reminds me of my father with all of this equipment. Rigging up all sorts of odds and ends to get a job done.
When I was a landscaper we had 2 Toro Commanders. They worked great. After they stopped making them we eventually sold them. All of our other snow blowers were Toro's. We also used mostly Walker mowers. Always had 4 on hand.
That was a really fun video! I loved that he shared the stories on how he acquired them. Best of wishes to all. :)
Thanks man for the video my mower had a bad keyway I learn it after watching your videos
I could watch this all day long very informative and funny
You are my new favorite RUclips channel! I like the way you make stuff entertaining, not just technical.
JD318 is one of my favorites. Currently restoring mine!
I love all these videos plus they are very interesting and thank you👍👍👍👍👍👍👌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Great episode......enjoyed watching this.
Always interesting to see Taryls videos, this time it's a bit of his life mixed in there
Yes. It was insightful.

All the cool stories were excellent!! Really enjoyed this one 👍🏻
You are an awesome guy. Love everyone one of your videos. Great crew too!
Thank you for the show and tell Taryl.
Would love to see a Detailed tour of your shop Taryl.
Thanks for the video Taryl. You're engine-oooity is great and simple
Who else watched the whole thing?
Meh. Lol
I watched every minute ..I am older than Taryl and like old school lawn tractors I have a 68 JD 112 and a 74 Allis 716 H
I was sad when it was over.......
I’m inside a mental hospital and they are using these videos to get me to confess to a murder I may have committed 😂😂

I don't know Bill, how's the AR?
G'day Bill, the video is released and can be found here: watch?v=hQBS-xwHSWQ

Them ladders in Taryl garage are used for the lifted mowers. Lol, love your videos.
I'm a F-525 fan, big time. I've got a Power-Flo bagger for mine and have used it for years. Two and a half quarts of oil runs the engine and the hydro and thats it.
your garage is heaven

Love your Equipment.

Absolutely the best!
Thank you for sharing your toys with us taryl. your like me wheelin and dealin i have atleast 1 of everything.
Thanks for sharing! 👍
Very cool to see what’s in your shed ! Love the trikes, S for small, M for medium ! 👍
One man's trash is another's man's treasure. That was a great deal for the pole saw.
great collection of equipment.
Who would have guessed that this would be so interesting? I really enjoyed this. Kudos
I love the vintage equipment, great stuff. I would cover the duct tape on the leaf duty Ariens with Gorilla tape. It's stronger and it would match the black chute.

They were great until something happens to that integrated power unit and you realized both Deere and Kawi stopped supporting it! Shame!
Yea Taryl, some of the best deals are for equipment i too have swaped for labor, and i have a good friend that owns a recycling

Man Toys! Loved the older tractor/ mowers.
I bought a Dolmar saw from a customer of mine for 50 bucks.
I bought a new gas and bar oil cap and a new air filter...
Saw runs like a champ. Had a problem this spring with it , but after cleaning up the carbutraitor..got her running like new...
I still love my Jonsered 630 Super best of all(26 years old)
Very interesting tour..thanks!
Love It Great Collection of Cool Stuff 😀😊
You have the best toys by far !!
I have a John Deere F525 that has the same problem after the PTO clutch burned up,Now I know where to start looking,Thank You Sir!
That was a fun video, thanks Taryl!!!

I always wanted such an electric started McCulloch chainsaw, but they are not for sale around here. Awesome machines. 👌🏻
jealous of those Honda 3 wheelers. Those trikes are reliable!
Thanks for sharing Taryl 👍
Would like to see a video on your shop equipment as well.
Great video thanks Taryl
I got the same craftsman blower vac, mine is black bought it when i was 16, about 1986 or 87. still run it weekly. only have replaced fuel lines 1 time sparkplug twice. only trouble I have had is trying to find the filter element sponge.

Glad I found your channel, great content!

Thanks for sharing, great video.
