    Did You Know... Jackie filmed the coal scene twice because the first scene wasn't real enough for him. The end result was him burning his hands of course. Also, the brother in the black suit was "Superstar" Ho Sung Pak, the original Liu Kang from Mortal Kombat 1 & 2.

  • @awdrj
    @awdrj 2 года назад +14

    The kicking dude is actually Jackie's bodyguard, who had about 3 to 4 months to actually practice for these scenes.

    A lot of people are pointing out Jackie fighting Ken Lo here, but the other dude he's fighting in this scene is Ho-Sung Pak, Who was the stunt co-ordinator for the second and third live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies in the 90s, as well as the Raphael stunt double. Oh, and he was also the guy who played Liu Kang in the first and second Mortal Kombat Games.

    For Jackie to have made this movie(original title DRUNKEN MASTER 2)at 40 years old was amazing.it shows that those years training in Peking opera paid off.plus Jackie strives for quality and perfection when he makes movies. His adversary he is fighting is his former bodyguard and friend Ken Lo.

    The liquid he drinks for the scene is actually industrial grade alcohol. They are fighting in a steel mill.also, it took them 4 months to rehearse this scene. Jackie chan is fighting ken lo, his own bodyguard at the time

    Guys
    Behind the scenes of this movie, Jackie and his stunt crew set up that fight scene when he actually fell on those hot coals. Safety crew and medical attended him. We have to give thanks to legend, Bruce Lee, who 1st hired Jackie for his stunt crew many years ago. When studio informed Bruce to layoff stunt crew, Bruce kept Jackie on his payroll.

    What he drank was actually industrial alcohol. And at the end of the movie, in the original scene, he becomes blind and brain damaged from drinking industrial alcohol

    Also the song that was playing when he drank the industrial alcohol,is called the general's mandate a.k.a. the Wong FEI Hung theme(thatis the name of the character Jackie is playing in the movie clip).it was heard in Jackie's classic Kung fu movie called DRUNKEN MASTER as well as a few Kung fu movies in the 1970s and 1980s.And yes the audience lost their minds when they saw this final fight.I saw this in 1994 when it premiered in a Chinatown theater in New York to a packed house.they loved it.appreciate your reaction. You guys appreciate quality, authentic action scenes.salute.

    Drunken style is one of the HARDEST styles to fight with and against.
    With: It requires massive amounts of endurance. You WILL be hit. You WILL be constantly moving. And you WILL feel it the next day, even if you weren't "beat up" in the fight due to sore muscles, sprained/twisted joints or possibly DISLOCATED joints. But you are constantly on the move so that you can do the following. Wear down your enemy, confuse your enemy as well as either mis-direct or re-direct your enemy strikes against you. (Crumbling into a strike, allowing the strike to MOVE YOU instead of taking it, or simply having the force of their strike lead into your own counter-strike... such as a punch "turning" you so that you counter with a backhand strike instead of a forward strike).
    Against: It F-ING HURTS. The speed of strikes from literally anywhere, at any time, often due to your own strikes starting an instant counter-strike, makes it hard to defend against. While not "powerful" strikes, they can be CONSTANT strikes as well as hitting multiple locations in quick order. Also, it is hard to focus on one region (arm, leg, chest, head) due to the constant movement AND it is extremely deadly at "close range", making it impossible to close the gap and basically wrestle. Also, if you are using "power" with something like Tiger style, you can easily wear yourself out while your enemy has the endurance to last. If you are using speed, with something like Snake style, your enemy has the endurance to take the hits... wearing your own speed down over time and leading you open to counter-attacks.
    The thing is... even if you win the fight and don't get "beaten up".... you STILL HURT the next morning after using Drunken style.

    Jackie Chan always keeps wide camera angle without cuts and dark lights to show audience that they're actually doing all of that and how majestic the movements are and how difficult it is.
    Nowadays, especially in Hollywood most don't know hoe to fight and it's irritating that they're passed off as action stars.

    While Jackie did his own stunts they also used camera angels and wires for some of it. A lot though is just Jackie and the other actors cause they're just that bad ass. If you watch some of the out takes it shows some of the camera tricks they used to make it look more real

    The guy's gotta be pretty much uninsurable by now, like the JACKASS guys. I think he was in his fifties by the time RUMBLE IN THE BRONX came out, and there's a whole blooper reel during the end credits where they show him taking some pretty nasty hits. I think he actually broke something. He might speed up the film every once in a while, but other than that everything you see is real. Guy's a beast.

      Jackie broke his right ankle jumping from a platform to the deck of a moving hovercraft in Rumble in the Bronx, however, so as not to interupt filming & put crew out of work, he had a long sock with a sneaker painted on the foot put over the cast , had his jeans slit & velcroed, & returned, against doctors orders, to filming that same afternoon
