    This is starting to annoy me, lol. I bought 2 encoder strips and threaded them thru the sensor bracket behind the carriage. MShrader211 was right, the encoder strip was not lined up to the sensor and that made it slam hard into the left side of the carriage . Now the carriage moves to the left and stops short of the side for a second, then moves left and Then the short grinding noise about a half second and then it throws the 0xEA code. Turning it off then back on produces the same error with either strip. Do those strips have to be perfectly flat/ not bent or kinked anywhere, for the sensor to read where the carriage is? What else could be making the noise? I bought the printer for $30.00 lol and don't want to get rid of it. I am being stubborn and want to be able to say I got a $200 printer for $30 and fixed it. You know the feeling...

    About two years ago I lightly dropped my Epson from about two feet off the ground and since then it would make a high pitched screech then turn itself off. I could not find the receipt so I could not call the help line and ever since then the printer has been a expensive paper weight. At the time I could not find any information on how to fix it. This sounds like it could be the problem. Although my printer is set up differently so I am not sure how to get it unstuck.

    Epson wf-2540: one of the cartridge's was too low-replaced and it worked. Didnt check this for months, and according to epson it was a 'hardware problem'.

    I found out that there is no clicking sound on the right side of the carriage on startup. The white spring-loaded plastic stopper does not move forward to lock the print head. No clicking and it does this a couple times, maybe 3 then starts the trek left and ends up with the screeching sound.0XEA error. Can I fix this myself???

    This is a pretty helpful video relating to my issue, but does not fully solve my issue. I had cleaned my print heads manually and had unplugged the unit while actively printing in order to release the 2 printhead carriage catches to move it freely lL/R....however, after cleaning, i get the 0xEA error message. Turning the unit on and off does not make the catches automatically re-catch the carriage. My carriage slams hard into the left side making a terrible noise and does not return to the right because these 2 release points do not re-grab to the carriage upon start up like it does in your video. How can i get them to reattach again? Can I lock them back into place somehow?

      The timing ribbon is off the print head it is hung probably just below where the sensor is that reads it. Check for that clear ribbon it should be straight across the print head and not super-tight... if it appears deflected or twisted downward at the print head, then it's not right it's caught itself some how! Gently push it down with your fingertip next to the print head and it will pop loose and be straight again.... now your printer will be able to tell where the head is when you turn it back on, it will re-calibrate for a few minutes then be ready to go back to work!
      My 1st thought when I got this printer into my shop tonight and turned it on, and it immediately slammed the print head hard into the left side of the carriage, was that this thing doesn't know where it's head is on the carriage!
      ps. The scanner bar will be fine once the timing ribbon is straightened out, it just happens to be around the middle of the scan plate in it's startup routine when the printer realizes it doesn't know where the print head is and stops everything before throwing that error code! The scanner is just a symptom, not part of this actual problem.

    How the way to repairing error 0xDA ?

  • @MShrader211
    @MShrader211 4 года назад +2

    Ok so.... same error message, print head slams Right then Left stops and error message pops up onscreen. Seems like it isn't able to tell where it's print head even is.... I mean it slams HARD into the sides of the machine! What should I be looking for in this instance? Another person below asked the same question basically with no answer posted... :-(

      Found it! The timing ribbon was off the print head it was hung just below where the sensor is that reads it. IF your printer is slamming the print head to 1 side or the other then throwing this error code, check for that clear ribbon it should be straight across the print head and not super-tight... if it appears deflected or twisted downward at the print head, then it's not right it's caught itself some how! Gently push it down with your fingertip next to the print head and it will pop loose and be straight again.... now your printer will be able to tell where the head is, it will re-calibrate for a few minutes then be ready to go back to work! Just saying....

      @@MShrader211 , I wish I could send you a digital video of what my printer is doing. It sounds like you are right but it still crashes. Where is the sensor that reads the clear, plastic ribbon? I don't want to do this too many times for fear of permanently breaking something. Joe.

    • @MShrader211
      @MShrader211 4 года назад +1

      @@bvnseven Sounds like the same thing to me, the printer doesn't know where the printhead is so it slams into the side of the printer (without so much as slowing down!). You're going to have to look inside the printer while the power is off and the printhead is unlocked so you can manually move it to the center of the carriage.... there's is a thin seemingly clear plastic strip that spans the width of the carriage, find it and follow it to the printhead with your fingers it is likely deflected at the print head (as in, not straight across... being held down or up at the printhead because it isn't in the correct track where the printhead sensor for it is located).... you'll have to get it back into the correct position. Wish I could explain it better but that's really all I can tell you.
