I got this error in the middle of printing a large file for school and I didn’t even know the back of the printer opens up until I saw your video. I was losing my mind opening paper drawers up and couldn’t find the reason for this error. I opened the back and VOILA found my paper jam. Thank you!!!

Paper was jammed in my WF-3540 rear duplexer unit, NOT visible by just looking inside the paper cartridge opening using a flashlight. Unlatched the duplexer and found the paper! That was the issue. Thanks for mentioning the strip too. Thanks for your outstanding RUclips video.

For me it was the clear strip in front of the belt. Didn't look like it, but running a paper towel over it proved to have some ink smear. Once cleared the printer worked fine. Thanks for the video.

This was helpful - thank you. A rather large ink spot on the alignment strip was the problem! I was not even aware of its existence - never noticed it before. Carefully cleaning the strip solved the problem. I have to wonder how long it been there or been collecting - possibly every time I changed black ink. It's working perfectly now. I owe you a drink! Looks like you saved my bacon - I cleared one paper jam, but removing the paper tray (as you suggested,) I found another paper jam. That caused me some grief, I tell ya! Thanks for the video!

That was helpful as I had no idea why I keep getting error OXE5. Usually paper jam would be indicated as such. I removed tray & opened the cover & found the stuck paper. Now it is fine. Thanks

Thank you! I swear I was going to throw my printer out the window. The back part/duplexer(?) was stuck and I really had to give it a tug. You could only see a little bit of the paper in the front, but I knew it was there.

Wow! Someone threw it out and I just fixed it!
When you pull the vertical white plactic piece on the far right all the way to the right, is that supposed to Lock that little arm on the bottom about 2 inches left so that the head locks in place and it knows where point 0 is? I think that may be the problem because the encoder strip was replaced and it doesn't slam on the left side anymore. It also makes sense that if the ph doesn't know the starting point it will keep going and get the 0xEA screeching sound on the left side=????

I have the wf-7710 it started as a paper jam error. I kept clearing the paper and it kept jamming then I get this error code 033506 can you help me fix this?
I tried pulling it back, but for some reason, it won't open.
Try carefully tugging the tray. First remove the duplex unit in the back. That may help release some paper.
I have a wf-3640 and I’ve cleared all paper inside the printer from all trays and still have the paper jam error
I have checked all the paper jam options, 3 times and found no stuck paper. Even the wiping of clear strip. So far no success. Any other ideas?
I’m having same problem too & have turned off/on, checked all possible jam areas, cleaned the strip, unplugged power cord and plugged in. Cant get past the paperjam message (no error code though). :(
I can't put the duplexer back in flush, what am i doing wrong?
Make sure you are putting the correct side up. It should slide in without much force and click in. See if anything is in the way of the duplexer unit

i keep getting error code 0x05 and ive literally never used my ADF
I don't know what is causing my Epson WF 3640 to say theres's a paper jam, the following print jobs will cause it to to say paper jam, double sided print from cassettes 1 or 2, cassette 1 single sided print using regular copy paper or photo paper. The printer will print just fine doing black and while or color from cassette 2 with regular copy paper. I have the correct paper type and size selected, there is nothing obstructing the pathways, I had the printer do a few roller cleanings, I also had this special tacky paper that I passed all throughout the printer. The paper stops just at the back of the printer head bracket, the bracket closest to the front. Other then the gears on the side of the duplexer that mash up with the gear inside the printer, is there adjustments that the printer makes within the duplexer or anything the printer moves (switch for a trian track that switch from left or right track, or in this case up or down) so the paper can go through one payway or another? Because, it is awfully strange that the printer will print as I stated at the beginning.
There is absolutely no paper jam in the printer. The printer was just set up after moving into a new apartment. I had to get all new Epsom 220 XL cartridges in all 4 colors. There was no paper jam when we unplugged the printer to move it. There is absolutely no paper in the printer at all. We didn't even get that far. We cleared the low ink message . We cleared the low ink message - and then the paper jam code went on. What a pain. We are not mechanics.

What if it is NOT a Paper Jam? My printhead goes all the way over to the left and makes a high-pitched grinding noise, then I get the error. A paper jam is easy but not everyone has that problem.
Check the timing encoder strip. It is a clear film strip that is located in the back of the printhead carriage unit. If it has ink or grease on it, it may prevent carriage to know its position. Clean it with a warm water on paper towel piece. Also, it may be out of place.

the encoder strip is behind the printhead but does not touch it? I take it that the darker part is "free travel" of the head and when it "sees" the clear part the sensor behind the print head knows to stop it???

I'm sorry your printer is giving you trouble. Have you tried cleaning the timing strip? or make sure it is not broken or ripped.
@@303electronics i fixed it now another thing all my pictures are printing just black. Would you know why.
Usually either it is set to black and white photo or other colors are not printing. Have yout red to print the nozzle test to see if all colors print?

It was a paper jam for me. I could not see it from the front, even with both paper feeders pulled out. Turned it around and pulled out duplexer and the jammed paper was right there. Beware of all of these sites telling you to download a tool or call an 800 number. Smells like a scam.

@@303electronics Thanks, I contacted Epson Support, teck spent 4 hours connected to my computer, checking the printer, installed the latest drivers, and finally determined it was a hardware issue that could not be fixed, or so he said. Checked the Ink well for excess ink, flat bed scanner for dark spots, cleaned rail, no ink in well, no dark spots on flat bed. He did get the blue status light to blink, but the orange one would not go out, and the error message popped up every time I turned the power on. Would not go any further, no functions available.
with mine i will try to replace with another scanner unit mine has a special case becoz it keeps on failing and after a few "first aid"eg like opening the ADF COVER it stops .with mine i think its the
scanner motor.Have an epson 3620 workforce
