1. Don't have a pandemic
Netherlands is actually a small heaven on earth. Rainbow holly land. We live with fresh streams of water snaking the canals around us making it look like the garden of Eden with green trees dotting the environment.
Mmm, fresh streams of water?! 🤔. Where is that exactly?
Timmer tell us your country we compare. There're all manner of canals across the country, flowing with fresh water, travel around Netherlands don't just sit in Amsterdam.
@@JohnJuma i live in the netherlands 😑
@@user-ui5jb9je7q 🤪😜
I am an American who moved to The Netherlands in January to be with my long-distance BF!!! I have been watching your channel for nearly a year!!!!
Amazing, how do you like it here?
@@JoeyJaq normally I live in Delft but with this Corona stuff my boyfriend and I are at his family house in a village up north! I am looking forward to everything getting back to normal!
If they’re from the European Union, not Europe in general
I have no Dutch/European ancestry, no highly skill, no dutch partner. Ok goodbye Holland dream 😢
You can also apply for a work visa if you want to work here, or apply for a study visa if you want to study here.. From there you can also apply for Dutch citizenship I suppose.
I am looking forward to move to The Netherlands. My brother is Dutch and I am Indian.
@@misshhuu How is that possible? Are you Suriname?
Also, I hope you & Nick are healthy & safe at the moment 💚😊
😘
Hi Joey, I always enjoy your video, keep it up.
Joey! Thank you very much for your beautiful videos! I’m a high school senior going to college soon, and I plan on doing a masters in France or The Netherlands. Your videos are very informative and you have a great sense of humor. Sending you good vibes from California!
Yay!! Good luck!!
Keep in mind that you cannot always apply for a passport from an EU country if you are of European descent. Dutch women, for example, did not pass on Dutch nationality until 1986 if the child acquired a nationality from the father.
True! I was born in the Netherlands to an Italian father and Dutch mother and had always used my Italian passport when traveling but kinda thought I also had a Dutch passport, only why bother to get one because then you'd pay twice. When I was around 20 though I received a letter from the government telling me I should have had a verblijfsvergunning all those years and had basically been staying in the country illegally ;) (I ended up getting the Dutch nationality a couple of years later, so now I can choose which passport I would like to use)
Your skin 😍😍😍 it’s glowing!!
Thanks my love!! It’s a lot of love and care hahaha 😘
Probably a lot of Americans are from UK decent..Tough luck now...Too late..
I think the Netherlands is not for everybody's enjoyment though..I think going to college here is your best way to figure out if this is the country for the long haul.
Thank you, very helpful! :)
Ok so I’m American and my dad’s father was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland so in regards to the first option would I be able to apply? I don’t speak to my father but I know my mother would fill out whatever I need her to if I asked her. So would I need both parents help or is it ok if only one participates?
Joey ca you explain to me how can i regester at te gemeete im from a dutch island but wat i have hear they need a huis adress to resgester they can not regeser me without that to get my bsn
Excellent video, and excellent personality!
Please help
Can my boyfriend move here ? He lives in south africa, but can he move hear without a job because I'm hear or doesn't it work like that ??
🙀Arizona????
Run! Run honey!
But not for the hills... for the flatlands!!!
Yasssss
I was born in holland but I don't have the nationality because we moved to Algeria when I was 3yo . And to get the nationality and the passport in the Netherlands you have to stay there for more than 5 years . What can I do ?
Hi Joey, you missed a very important fourth option for US citizens, the Dutch-American Friendship Treaty (DAFT)
In short, these are the requirements
1. US citizen needs to start a company in NL
2. One needs to formally demonstrate sufficient (access to) funds, to provide for their selves while in NL and starting up
3. I think there’s also a minimal capital requirement to invest into the business
Once a US citizen is approved, they’ll be granted a residency permit for 4 or 5 years, after that period a permanent one can be obtained
Google for the DAFT treaty and or visit the site of the Dutch Embassy in the USA.
Hope this allows you to make someone happy or at least provide some hopeful options ;-)
Goeie video Joey.
(I came here as a refugee. Finished my bachelor degree but need to start a master. I am searching for these kind of videos all the time so i think your video will he usefull for student or whatever from Usa!)
Amazing!! Congrats on finishing your bachelors, And good luck with your masters!!
my grear grandparents were born in holland but are no longer alive can i get there death/birth certificate or any paperwork showing they were from there and have my mom do the passport thing or anything like that?
i was born in sweden and have lived here all my life and i am a swedish citizen only, can all eu citizens just get another zitizenahip from another country in the eu (netherlands) in this case ?
Je nederlands is zo goed geworden. Bij sommige zinnen link je net als een echt Nederlander zo trots op je💙
*klink :b
How far back in family can you go for sponsorship? My oma’s cousin lives in the Netherlands.
Hi Joey, I have a questions, can I sponsor my brother to study here in Netherlands? He is actually working in a Ship he finished a Marine Engineering. But I would like hem to take other course and study and work here in Netherlands..is it possible to get here by sponsoring him? Thanks.. 🙂
Hi Joey, thank you for the video. a quick question. can Americans invest in property and meanwhile get residence permit to NL?
Hello Joey , I am in the process of obtaining my Dutch citizenship but I am having a pretty hard time learning Dutch. Any recommendations as to tools I could use to help me with this process ? Dutch is sooooo hard 🤦🏾♀️
Hey is there a way i can contact you and ask some questions? I’m looking to move there next year. My gf lives there and it would be so helpful to get some help
I have my boyfriend in Limburg, Netherlands 🇳🇱 so if I ever want to move to the Netherlands with him what should I do?
When it comes to the first method, if my grandma's grandpa was born in Germany, but her father wasn't born there, can she still apply for the German passport? Because if passports need to be obtained in chronological order, then she wouldn't be able to get her German passport because her dad wasn't actually born in Germany. But her grandfather was born there though. Let me know soon. Thank you :)
I was born in the Netherlands with an expat mother and a dutch father and I only lived there for two years and three months. I'm 14, and I have dual citizenship but because I didn't live for two years and 6 months in the Netherlands, I lose my dual citizenship when I turn 18, and we don't know if I can reapply because I would most likely have to chose my american citizenship logistics wise. I want to live in the Netherlands and some point because I love it there and I dislike the US.
0:34 what is that music? I've looked hard for this music
Hello sir my son have red passport..can i move to Netherlands. It will be easy for me n my other kids
a bit of extra clarity for those interested in the 30% ruling.......
30% ruling is a 30% tax break. You actually pay 70% in taxes. Just clearing that up because you said you pay only 30% in taxes. It also only lasts for 5 years and only if you stay in the NL. If you leave for 3 months and come back before your 5 years was up you can't re apply for it.
Thanks Joey for filling this social distancing time with fun little videos👏
What about through startup route?
When you live in AZ and get called out in the intro 👀👀👀👀
Is that 1800 euro minimum wage bruto or netto? I guess it is bruto since you said 'on paper'?
Bruto.
"Run honey!!!" I'm so sad my trip this summer may be canceled, my partner may not be able to come back to the US with the restrictions (student visa) and I may not be able to go (non citizens cant enter) and this was when we were going to register me as his partner and learn all that good info look for apartments apply for masters programme 😳 oooph with due time though! His step mom is testing covid 19 folks in the NL right now so lots of good vibes that way and its obviously the most important thing!!!
Hello Joey! I am from the US and I have a very important question. SHOULD I STUDY ABROAD IN THE NETHERLANDS AS A SENIOR IN HIGH SCHOOL??! I’m on the fence about it but it’s either that or college in the US. I NEED YOUR HELP!!
You should come here. Its cheaper and more fun!
You should definitely come to the Netherlands! It broadens your perspective and it makes you grow as a person to be traveling to another country. Greetings from NL! If you need help, you can always ask me questions :)
Hoe gaat het Joey :), is any rule or way to move to the Netherlands if you're planning to open a business there? In my case a Mexican restaurant 😋
Yes there is for sure!!

@@EduardoRamos-do2ur good luck with everything and if you need some help with translating from dutch to english, let me know
You really know how to sell the Netherlands, but unfortunately we don't like to stand out. So... Keep it up anyway! I like your videos.
Always interesting to meet new people and cultures here in the NL and I hope this video helps people to come here that are enthusiastic about it.
OK so where and how do u find a nice Dutch man.. Lol.. I'm indian from South africa and have a sister over there.. Is it still possible if she is now a Dutch citizen?
I'm Algerian and i want to move. Can anyone help me out plz? 🥺
One caveat with option one. If you move to the Netherlands as a EU citizen, you have to prove you can sustain yourself within 3 months (either with a job or because you are rich). Otherwise you can technically be deported (its not strictly enforced).
There is one more easy way, which is if you go study at a University, of course tuition for international students from non-EU countries is high, but it is an option if you can afford it. After you get your degree you get a chance to find a job and do the 2nd option that you mentioned :)
Juan Gómez its still probably cheaper than American university
Also, the education is probably better :)
Its interesting to see the educational differences from my partner who did college/university in the Netherlands and the states and both cant really be compared because of the different systems. I am doing my masters program in the NL and it's way cheaper (I'll be under a type V visa I think) only a few thousand but a regular US citizen would may 16,000 which is the same price as my school here. It is all relative to where you go and what you study. I think people would just be happy to be in such a nice country 🥰 that's how I view it, even if it's more I'd pay it
Kendall Shelby welcome to our country! ❤️
Hi Joey! I'm also an American with a Dutch partner and we currently live in the Netherlands. I wondered how did you learn to speak Dutch so well? Are you taking courses currently or do you just speak to your partner in Dutch?
I am not taking courses, I actually just speak it at home as much as possible!
NICE GREEN SCREEN
I'm a 13 years old korean boy but when I grow up, I want to move to the Netherlands
I am more Interested in way to move to the state's
Basically all points mentioned in this video apply for going to the states as well. With the last point (sponsorship through partner) I do believe you need to be married or get married within a few months after moving. That being said I believe Trump has frozen all immigration programs at this time
Yeah the Netherlands is an alright country to live but not my fave, personally.
I really like Spain, Ireland etc. The weather in Spain is lovely, the food is great, the people are usually kind & laidback.
I like Ireland because again most Irishmen and -women are very kind and laidback & I looove the nature in Ireland
Can't wait to visit these lovely countries again after this pandemic blows over 🙏🙏🙏💙
I'm 13 so I can't move yet and the bloody UK is leaving the EU so I can't move after next year with the European descent method.
You make it seem like it is the best country that hurt
It is the best country yes exactly
Luckily for me my parents are Dutch 🇳🇱🥳!!!
What is long stay visa or MVV
Hmmm I am not sure actually.
@@JoeyJaq 😁❤
Basically if you want to stay in the netherlands longer than 90 days, for example for college. You need to apply to get this visa so you can stay. If you dont have it you need to go, but you can only get it if you meet requirements and have an employer, schooling institute, ambassy or family member host you.
for example, you study here and you ask your school to give you a MVV so you can finish the education, or you work and you ask your employer etc.
That's the bare bones of what it is.
I remember when my partner was applied MVV for me..That was so stressful..
I am planning to apply for the mvv by the end of this year through my long distance boyfriend after I graduate this year and I have some questions, I'd be glad if you answer. How long did it take? Was there any document missing in your case that created complications ? Do you need to be married for the government to accept it easier?
@@narjisse5981 Not really it was just stressful lots of paper work.. i was also in long distance my boyfriend was Dutch and me am a Zambian..
How did your boyfriend get a job prior? In the states or did he leave before you? That's what I am worried about. We are both finishing school.
I know that's personal you dont have to answer
2 of my great grandparents where born in Ireland, but they moved to England before my grandad was born :(. Goodbye Irish passport
I’m Jewish does that count?
Thanks. For reminding me of the pathways. I want to be an EU citizen so bad. But I'm retiring soon and very few places want older immigrants. Those that do are places I'm not interested int. LOL
30% tax? Wow....
Thanks for the video, I appreciate any tips on moving to the Netherlands I am pursuing the European ancestry option but don't think I will qualify. I came across the Dutch American Friendship treaty a few days ago on Reddit. DAFT, hopefully this can help some people, Self Employment though.
You will operate your business between the US and the Netherlands.
You will start a new business opportunity or a profession in which you have invested a substantial capital (€4500).
You have a valid travel document (for example a passport).
You are not a risk to public order and national security.
You have sufficient and long-term means of support
You must be able to make enough money after obtaining the Visa to stay off of Dutch welfare programs
You have not previously stayed in the Netherlands illegally.
You have not given false information or have withheld important information to support any previous applications.
Joey, nice that you are so positive about the NL. But other great countries in Europe are Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Switserland, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Luxembourgh. And some of these countries are even better for their inhabitants than NL. For Dutch people this is not heaven.
Agree!
Nederland is op mijn lijst van plaatsen om te bezoeken
Nederland isn 't a place it is a country. Amsterdam is a place
Adding New York to the Netherlands and rename it New Amsterdam would make it easier :-)
Robert Boender you know NY used to be from NL and called New Amsterdam right????
@@joshyga6467 lol 😂 yes i know i'm Dutch
Robert Boender lol 🤣
Brooklyn is ook van nl geweest dat was Breukelen
Im an american moving to my gf soon
I remember a US gay person seeking political asylum here, many years ago. He had to take it to the Dutch Supreme Court, but succeeded as the court ruled that he was being prosecuted for being gay in the USA. At the time, that was publicized here as it was quite unusual. So, that is the fourht way to get into this country since then. But please the Netherlands is quite full already. And it is certainly not the best country in the world. Maybe one of the best, but not the best. See all kinds of lists the UN produces. NL is generally top 10, not number 1 most of the time.
I need dutch guy to fall in love with me
O don't move to here now come over a years becas we don't want someone who can presior our healthcare systeem
Presior?
