- This video summarizes my experiences, gained knowledge and cultural shocks while studying in the Netherlands. I have been living here for 3 years and there was a lot to unpack, hopefully I at least got the basics down.
The video took me longer than expected and I am so happy I can finally share it. Thank you to all that helped me make the video!

And feel free to give feedback in the comments! 💛
When this video got suggested to me, I saw it had very few views and I wasn't expecting much in terms of quality. I could have not been more wrong. Excellent video Erika and I hope your channel grows!
That's so sweet thank u!
Exactly
SAME
Omg same it's soooo well done and totally fun video
I had no real reason to watch this being Dutch myself, I just really liked the way you put this together. Well edited, funny and pleasant voice over. Mooi gedaan!
As a person from Ukraine, that now lives in Netherlands during 8 month (because of war) , I can definitely say, that all what was in this video -true. (Especially sirens every first Monday of month, for Ukrainian this sound a bit scary😶😶😶)
Also the part about the lunch is true! Even years after living in Australia, I eat a salad for lunch but my Dutch dad only eats bread, cheese, mustard and ham
Finally, a video about a place that's more than just someone sitting on their couch and talking for 20 minutes!
I will be studying abroad in the Netherlands next year, so I have been investigating a little about it. From all the videos I have seen in this process, this has been by far one of the best ones. I was impressed when I realized it had few likes, I hope your channel gets the recognition it deserves. This video was excellent! Congratulations!!
The directness, punctuality, appointments. Oh my god. My neurodivergent brain is so happy right now. I can’t wait to study abroad there
Dauwtrappen is mainly done in the eastern provinces of the Netherlands. Not on the first of may but on ascention day. (allways a thursday, 39 days after easter)
I'm going to study in the Netherlands from September and this video made me feel much less scared about the new environment and all the other stuff.

@@devb.8708 i managed to get into TUE in Eindhoven but the housing situation is so horrible that I don't even know if I'll manage to find anything before starting the studies :(
@@maciejkicinski3234 hey! Have you found any luck with the housing? Having a similar situation
@@3lea.strato sadly not :( I decided I'm going to study in my home country due to lack of housing in the Netherlands. Still hoping to at least visit one day. how about u?
@@maciejkicinski3234 Oh, i am sorry to hear that you werent able to get a place. I hope you are doing well studying where you are now! I'm sure it is all worth-while. I have not been succeful yet either with looking for a place. but it is my goal to try my best as i have no other options for college. i have given myself until end of september T^T

you're actually really funny, I love your type of humor and way of editing ! new sub, here for more of the Netherlands and of you natuurlijk :)
What an adorable little intro to the Netherlands, wish it existed before me and the Mrs went 3 years ago lol
Dutch tap water is often more pure than the purest bottled water. Actually ALWAYS !!!
It contains too much kalk (limestone.),but that may be a regional thing
@@fakedoorsfordinner1677 regional thing and for humans it's not that much of a problem onley when it comes to your teeth, need to be cleaned more. Appliances however............a whole other story
By law, I believe. Tap water has more stringent requirements than bottled water.
I moved to The Netherlands one week ago and every fact which you presented is so true!
Love ur videos and such amazing editing!! Found ur videos as on holiday in Netherlands and found the groceries videos but now binge watching the rest!:)) new sub here ..😍

Damn, I'm from Hengelo and I lost it when I saw the "Erik 50 jaar" sticker in the birthday segment, it's famous now xD Nice video!
Nice editing and overall entertaining video. At the beginning was getting ready for a 30 minute video, eating dessert and the whole shebang, nevertheless, was fun enough to write a comment about it
very informative and love the edits and role playing hahahhaha
Very nice videos and channel !!!
I wish you success!
Useful and hilarious; thanks for the video!
this deserves more views and definitely a perfect for someone who wants to know about the Netherlands and its people. even though i know about the country already like it has the tallest people (on average),coffee shop is also a weed shop or weed is legal at certain amount, there are more bikes than people, etc. They make fun of Belgium 😁
Your editing is incredible!!! I’m surprised you don’t hav more subs 💕💕

wauw this video was amazing!! so funny and creative. very entertaining:))
That was so interesting, I recognized a bit similar things from Germany my home country. But water taps on tye street?? That’s so cool
Regarding food, a good thing to note is that we also eat a lot of foreign food. Mostly dishes with rice, but also food influenced by our former colonies.
But in terms of traditional foods the video is correct.
Why was this the best video ever?
Great stuff!
I am from Oldenzaal, a small city near Enschede so this was definitely an interesting video to watch from an outsider’s perspective, and because everything is so true!! 😂
I loveddddd this video ✨️🤍😊
Great video. Very entertaining!
Talking about late trains and putting b-roll of a german train behind it. 😂Great video!
That video is incredible.
If only I could edit videos like you ☺️☺️ but this was a great YT recommendation.. loved you video
No wayy, i just went back to Indonesia two weeks ago. I used to live in Enschede for a year, such a great city to live in. 😍
wow! How do you make such a creative video? Surely you are getting a new subscriber!
This video made my day :D
I am dutch. I like this video. It fun to see our culture from a foreign view point. I do have to admit i have never heard of red head day though and I am a red head lol. It was fun to see your responce to hagelslag or as you call it toppings. A friend of mine whoes from Boston had the same responce
In Czechia, there is the same testing of public warning sirens at noon on the first Wednesday of every month.
Scared the hell out of me the first time I experienced it...
nice video! hope to go one day!
This is Exactly the side of the Netherlands I’m moving to 😂 Thanks for mentioning the Siren 🚨 and also such a coincidence that u were/are studying in Saxion ( it’s were i was about to go back in 2013 but i ended up going somewhere else )
Erika deserves more viewers and subscribers. indeed ❤
looovee this video
Cute ahh, funny ahh video, really enjoy watching it😂
ey, some of the people in your video were people i know from a student association, say hi to carmen from me :3
nice cutesy video btw!
So with the language thing it goes like this:
Dutch: Yes...
English: Yes
German: Probably
French: Maybe
Spanish: mmmm
Portugese: ...
Mandarin: Nope
By watching the video I assume that she spent time with mostly university students. Classrooms over there can have people from all over Europe or even the world. While at a college you see that less often. So I think that's how she met up with people that happen to be more multilingual then the Average Dutchman.
@@sevendam9070 The average university graduate can speak fluently Dutch and English and some french/german. Spanish is thought only recently in most high schools. Other languages like Russian or Manderin are considerate rare and most Dutch (including me) will be impressed if you're born in the Netherlands and speak these languages fluently.
The commentary is nice I liked it the most
this was a cute vid! so excited to live here w my dutch bf
Quoting kurtis is top tier 👏🏼👌🏻
Funny & creative. Well done.
These videos have higher quality then other RUclipsrs and you only have 1.72k? More people need to see your videos and subscribe too!
this is so funny 😂♥️
Damn, that's how you should tell a story 👏👏
Nice and Super.! 👍🏻. Go on
Super fun and accurate 😜👍
The hello to people on the street is mostly limited to smaller villages. When you would do that in a big city it would be a bit weirder
Good job! 👍
Your oddly interesting videos about european life interests this middle age Canadian male. I had Dutch in-laws so I knew a bit about the Netherlands already but this video gave me some info I didn't already know.
