These boxes just keep getting more powerful and powerful, every month and year, I’m definitely sold on this but I would prefer the 16 GB ram version instead.
Gamepass ultimate and shadow pc would run very well on this device.

This is a very powerful box with some serious flaws when it comes to streaming. I think it’s more of a gaming box rather than a streaming box. Now it will be interesting to see it running Windows 11 which will then fix some if not all of the streaming issues. Great review once again.
Yep rockchip is what's letting it down, S90 Arm chip much better

Dealbreaker for me , No 4k playback on most of the popular streaming apps..
Aside from the price of $280.00 US. There is no support for Google Chromecast. The FTP option is nice. With Google TV selling for $50.00 US and Onn 4k by Wal-Mart selling for $20.00 US. The consumer will not be buying this media box. We also don't know if it spies on you by sending data back to China.

Very interesting TV box. I am always a bit wary of Rockchip processors. I have owned a couple of them over the years. I don't understand why they would would charge more than the Nvidia Shield. I still believe this is the ultimate Android TV box, and I somehow doubt this item will receive regular firmware updates. Still, it seems alright but not for me thank you. Great review as always. Don't mean to be defending overpriced things but this is really more of a fully fledged mini pc/powerful SBC than simply a streaming box from say Mecool. This just happens to come with a media playing firmware as an option.
The main problem with Rocchip has been the lithography at 28 nm, which isn't power efficient and generating a lot of heat which again is electronics worst enemy.
The Rockchip rk3588 process lithography is 8nm, this number is better than the S905x4 / s928x at 12 nm..

Your labelling is not correct. RK35882 should be RK3588S
2023 and still no Android box that supports dual monitors... which is why I switched to a mini PC about a year ago.

with that price, unofficial android and all the other faults, you rate it 2nd. How is this better than Chromecast with google tv or xiaomi tv stick 4k which are like 50 euros. I wouldn't use this if it was free.

WTF $279 for what, playing Netflix in SD? For €60 you can buy the original, a Google TV 4k. Never need anything else foor a couple of years.
