Thats awesome guys. Especially the life vests. 😂😂 I spents many years in a 16’ aluminum with a 35 hp engine. I was only guy that didnt have a bass boat in our club. Its makes you slow down and fish, hone your skills. My wall full of trophies and plaques backs up that statement. Most of them being first place. Stay true to who you are. Nothing better than watching all the guys talk about the pile of crap boat that just kicked our asses. Good luck boys.
Me and my partner won and placed in many top 5s out of my 17' bass tracker with a 40hp force engine. Out of aquia creek and Lapr tournaments out of leesylvania. We have weighed many 20+lb bags. Win u win in a john boat u have won a few bucks. When you win out of a 21' bass boat u will always stay in the hole. My bass tracker will run a week on 12 gallons and runs 32mph with 2 people and gear. It rarely broke down and i paid 1200.00 for it used. Those $60,000 bass boats will rarely recoup just the boat payment. Ive owned those boats and am happy i downsized.
Yeah but if u have the cash and it’s your only hobby why not have that 21ft glass boat with all the electronics? Ain’t never seen a hurst with a trailer hitch.
I love the fact that you're not a pro angler . You're just a regular guy that has a passion for fishing and knowledge gained from being on the water . No fancy bass boat with power poles , big motor and the latest in electronics . Keep it up ! Thanks for the videos
You know your a badass RUclipsr when your subs hit the like button at the beginning of a video before watching any of it. Keep it up, The Matt’s will get a W in the Jon-boat one of these days!!!
50 years sago I fished the first Bass tournament ever held in Louisiana. Me and my buddy got 4th of a 12 ft. boat. Since then I have fished 700 plus tournaments. I only remember that first one. Why is that?
Maaaaan, this one made me really miss VA I used to tell my wife all the time that I wanted to fish that tournament with you but then we ended up leaving VA. Glad to see you out there man. Hopefully you start really busting some bass and hit that 200 fish mark!
Good job always rooting 4 you Mat! Lov the jon boat & orange pfd's.. Yes a Bass boat is a tool and fast but you have proven to the world its not needed. Keep the vids coming & we'll keep watching & supporting!
Hey you did well, your still young and still learning the game. I can see you turning pro In the years to come with a nice big bass boat.. Keep it up man!
I believe that fishing in a Jon boat forces you to be a better fisherman. You can’t run all over to find super active fish. You have make the fish bite in the areas you can get to.
Carl Zluticky i fished out of a jon boat for 3 years and never ended up winning a tournament and had days where if I could have ran to find one more keeper we could have. I finally saved up to buy a skeeter and now I’m doing great in the local tournaments and am making a run for aoy. Always have to have a special spot for your roots but I’m never going back to them lol
I agree, sometimes running long distances can hurt you. I won't ever forget one particular tournament I fished at Kerr lake. My buddy said he knew an area that held fish 30 miles from the launch. We left and caught fish then had to endure an hour ride in whitecaps back to the boat ramp. We finished third but the two boats that beat us fished within a mile of the launch.

Very good *Fishing,* Congratulations Fisherman. Have a very successful week! Hugs and good fishing!👍🎣🐠🐟
How do you stabilize your jon boat. I have a 14ft jon and it was very unstable today. Built a deck for the front and couldn't barly move on it. Every moment rocked the whole boat
Don’t have to even watch till the end of this video an already like it , my little ole boat like yours catches fish like them big bad bass boats , doesn’t bother me at , ok finishing watch this video good luck.
I've won many tournaments in a old 1977 15 ft bass boat fiberglass that I rebuilt with a 100 dollar LCD fish finder ..up against 30-80k bass boats .. only once did I get more than a mile from the ramp .. and in 3 also caught the biggest bass of the TX. Size or age of the boat is not an issue lol
3 fish before 8 am was a good start! 4th fish was a solid chunk! Was it the IO-Bee #5? "I don't have a coin do you have one?" LOL 2 culls gave you a respectable bag at 13.08 and in the middle of the pack that's a good fishery and a fun tournament. Good job against the big boys!
Fished one tournament year’s ago with just a trolling motor. Won the tournament and got the big bass prize. Big bass weighed in over 6 pounds. We didn’t even have a watch with us and got back up at the ramp 2 hours early and just fished around the ramp till time to check in. Won over $100.00 and a case of boat motor oil!
What was the cold part where you stop the bleeding? I wasn't sure what you were talking about. After you got the hook out the bleeder, was there something you did to help it?
Not having to work another job during this 30 day challenge seems to be helping you keep your energy up. Excellent net job @1:56 I've heard of flying fish before but that's the first time I've seen one netted in mid air.
My wife and I fished a Co. tournament at Lake Walter F. George, and never left sight of the marina, and won the thing. I watched boats run up and down the river all day.
Love your videos man. Any chance you can do a video, if you haven't already, on your boat setup? How you rigged it, how you prep for tourneys? Thanks bro
Good job guys. It's not always an advantage to have a bigger / faster boat. You guys did good and sometimes it all about gaining that experience. I cashed more checks in my small aluminum boat then my new glass boat, just saying. Tight lines.
I believe, though i havent fished bass tournaments, that alot is done with good preparation. Aslong as you know the lake and conditions, and sport a good plan you can out preform the other boats. Someone get these Kids a sponsorship allready.. 🤞🤞
i see you have a 12ft jon boat with two people and gear and some deck work and plywood. So my question is is that jon boat manufacturer claimed max weight of 400ish pounds pretty far off? I am about to purchase a 12ft cheap and want to carry two people, gear, and some bass boat mods like a deck and rear deck but i do not want to over fill the boat. So do these get around well and can tote more than manufacturer claims?
It's not about the boat man...It's about how you know how to fish. I used to out fish guys my dads age, on the lake in my back yard, when I was 10 years old. The men would see me catching bass and want to know how I was doing it...HA!!!!
I fish big boat tournaments a lot out of my 12' Deep V conversion and do pretty good. I've fished 4 open tournaments so far this year between fishing the Oklahoma 2 Man Boat Tournament Assication's tournaments and have cashed a check 3 of the 4 with a 2nd place being the best finish so far this year in a Open big boat tournament.. And there nothing better then the looks on the faces when driving out of the parking area with my 12' boat in tow and check in my back pocket. You would think I have a 3rd eye or something by the looks I usually get when I pull in for check in and pre tournament meeting...lol
I was wondering what tournament was out of Hope Springs when I saw all those bass boats come out of Aquia late on the 4th. Nice work man! Tough to win against those guys.

I have a small boat but it's actually 14 maybe 15. It was my papaw's from like the 60s lol. Great boat just doesn't have any deck area, so I just have a transom trolling motor at the moment. It'll run maybe 18-20 on a good day. Has a 20 Evinrude on it. Only thing that makes me nervous is blast off. And bigger boat waves, I'm always scared of getting flipped. I don't mind getting wet but don't wanna loose 3k worth of fishing stuff and for sure don't wanna loose the boat. I've been thinking really hard about entering a few local ones out of it. Just gotta make me a good livewell. And suggestions or tips for me before I decide to full send into some tournaments in the small boat? Great video as always btw!
My favorite fishing youtuber to watch right now.... just some normal guys catching fish without a huge budget and fancy boat!
Need to start a tournament series for John boats only.
Jody Basham they do that on a lake near me in PA a few times a year
Me and my partner won and placed in many top 5s out of my 17' bass tracker with a 40hp force engine. Out of aquia creek and Lapr tournaments out of leesylvania. We have weighed many 20+lb bags. While I agree and you're not wrong, there's a big grey area too... the 18 foot used glass boats are definitely and overlooked option.
It's not the jon boat that separates ya it's those live vests. lol. Dude you can absolutely win one out of the Jon boat.
You guys are my hero...LOL! Fishing a legit tournament on a 12' Jon Boat. Awesome!!!
Another great video! Good to run into you yesterday, looks like yall had a good day on the water. Always tough against those guys on the potomac.
You know your a badass RUclipsr when your subs hit the like button at the beginning of a video before watching any of it. Keep it up, The Matt’s will get a W in the Jon-boat one of these days!!!
Love the JB bass boat! Screw the fancy bass boats. Doesn’t matter what you fish out of..... it’s all about the weight at weigh in!👍🏻
early morning and glassy water = jitterbug time
The lady who took your picture at the end is a really good family friend. I fished a tournament a few weeks ago at the same exact spot and got 4th.
The size of your boat will mean nothing compared to the size of your joyfully memories . Rock on !!!
50 years sago I fished the first Bass tournament ever held in Louisiana. Me and my buddy got 4th of a 12 ft. boat. Since then I have fished 700 plus tournaments. I only remember that first one. Why is that?
That’s awesome.
Because that first, special event means more to you than the hundreds of others?
That’s good life right there just fishing with a buddy and a John boat
Hope all y’all have a good day
Love my cashion rods, good to see someone else enjoying them!
Maaaaan, this one made me really miss VA I used to tell my wife all the time that I wanted to fish that tournament with you but then we ended up leaving VA. Glad to see you out there man. Hopefully you start really busting some bass and hit that 200 fish mark!
The Jon boat vs bass boat vids is what made me subscribe! I gave in and went back to the 14ft Jon don’t give in man keep it up! Love these vids
Never been as excited for a month of RUclips.. cheers bro.
Great Video Matt!! It was awesome seeing you guys out there, and thanks for the on the water assist in trying to save my big fish!! 👊🏻
Its a good feeling when your first fish is a nice chuck
Electronics and trolling motor cost more than the boat!! Fancy boats don’t matter as long as they fish! Love it.
Good job always rooting 4 you Mat! Lov the jon boat & orange pfd's.. Yes a Bass boat is a tool and fast but you have proven to the world its not needed. Keep the vids coming & we'll keep watching & supporting!
Proud of you guys!
Fun watching you seriously compete with 70mph fiberglass!
Does not matter the boat size of the boat all about the fisherman!!
You got that right
Hey you did well, your still young and still learning the game. I can see you turning pro In the years to come with a nice big bass boat.. Keep it up man!

Smaller boat is cool but you need to upgrade your life vests
Rick Shipley nah man orange life jacket for the win
come on.. he said its good luck.lol
Little Thing CALLED KNOWING HOW TO SWIM !!!!!!!!!!
a bass will hit a cigar butt if you present it right...lee Wolfe
Now that was funny..lol
How do you stabilize your jon boat. I have a 14ft jon and it was very unstable today. Built a deck for the front and couldn't barly move on it. Every moment rocked the whole boat
I've had great memories with my friends on jon boats
That grass flat might have been a money spot! Great video btw!
Digging the Titanic style life jacket! So glad you brought back the series bro! Keep up the great work! #jigsallday #DuckettRodsAllDay
Don’t have to even watch till the end of this video an already like it , my little ole boat like yours catches fish like them big bad bass boats , doesn’t bother me at , ok finishing watch this video good luck.
Those fish don’t know what boat you’re fishing from. Keep the vids coming!

Crazy man. 30k views with only 37k subs. Signs of killer content
you guys did a great job there is no need for a 30/60 k boat to fish out of enjoyed it Thanks
Not having to work another job during this 30 day challenge seems to be helping you keep your energy up. Excellent net job @1:56 I've heard of flying fish before but that's the first time I've seen one netted in mid air.

Was this addressed???
Even though I own a bass boat(skeeter) these small boats are the underdogs. They always pull out big bass. I remember when I use to have a jon boat.
Me and buddies have won plenty of tournaments out of his tin can...keep it up, I enjoy the videos.
Your boat is amazingly stable. I have a new jon boat with an 8hp yamaha, but I don't think I could stand up on a custom deck
It's pretty wide for a 12' boat, thats the biggest thing with stability.
SBFISHINGTV And the weight of the crew:)
Good job guys. It's not always an advantage to have a bigger / faster boat. You guys did good and sometimes it all about gaining that experience. I cashed more checks in my small aluminum boat then my new glass boat, just saying. Tight lines.

Thanks Shane!!
You just gotta hope the damn wind dont blow to hard in a ol 12 footer..lol..I've been there guys..Hell if it floats you can catch fish.
Love your vids. I need to get back to fishing soon
I'll be taking my boat out in a couple weeks either by myself or with a friend
Another enjoyable video never disappointed have a good day and stay safe Jimmy from Massachusetts
Wow, glad I stumbled upon you guys. Subbed up now. Great video.
Beautiful video man watching here from Miami, FL

I was wondering what tournament was out of Hope Springs when I saw all those bass boats come out of Aquia late on the 4th. Nice work man! Tough to win against those guys.

Dope vid man as always!
Great job filming your buddy catching fish.
Those life vest, lol. Hey man what ever works. Good vid as always
Did you hit any of the creeks? Some of them are very productive for numbers and size
My Dream fishing boat!!!
Nicely done Boys!
Uno mas por favor!! You guys are awesome!!!tight lines!!
Lmao yea I'm a lil slow...😂👊 looks bigger than that.. Lol I was just so jacked for the vid I didn't even read the thumbnail..right? Right..lol
Guys try to build river boats as small as they can here in south Mississippi. When the river is high they donate the weigh ins.
Do you launch out of hope springs?? I've been wanting to go down there for a long time
Hell ya a nice rig is a nice rig , and thats a nice ass 12 foot rig boyz
Great job on the lower Potomac. Where those life jackets when you move. Some tournaments required then whenever you run the gas engine.

Thanks!!
Sometimes you can have too many options and second guess yourself. That almost always leads to a mistake.
What hp motor, looks like you guys were flying?
Fish don’t care what the boat looks like lol 🇺🇸👍🏻
