Hadn't listened to Metric in a while. I'd forgotten just how much I could miss that voice and how much their sound could touch me.
I recently saw them live for the first time. Unfortunately they were opening up for two bands I'm not really into. But even though the weather was bad (outdoor concert), even though they only got to play for a half an hour, even though most of the crowd was there to see someone else... They were great! ❤❤❤
That final scene is so key for me. She walks into the sea, and the other members of the band chase after her. To me, it feels like that no matter how deeply alone or unloved you feel, you do have people who care about you.

I know exactly what you mean, for me it is the scene how she is gently pulled into the last party scene and this crazy looking girl starts to animate her to sing by clapping her hands.

In tears, watching this video. Never heard of Metric until just the last few weeks. I used to have major depressive disorder for decades. I was close to suicide several times, but never talked about it. Somehow, the MDD went away, cured by a med, a miracle, something. This video reminds me of the desperate feelings I had during MDD and how grateful I no longer suffer. TY Metric for capturing this feeling. In love with all of your music - new fan at age 60. ♥

Metric is timeless. Their sound will always be fresh. I’ve listen to “help, I’m alive” in my music rotation since 2009 and it’s still one of my favorites. Great band, vocals, and lyrics.
I sometimes leave that song on repeat on my feet for several hours at a time sometimes driving along the road at 150 km an hour.
I filmed them at Pemberton Music Festival years ago. I had an Arriflex 16 S I hadn't used in better part of 15 years so after a few test runs, I loaded up 300 ft magazine and took it to the show. They saw the camera rig, and just assumed I was media and let me in on just a regular pass.. my favorite moment was Emily catching me filming her from in the distance to give a little tilt overhead and flung her hair up over onto her shoulder to continue performing
Metric is magical, 7 albums later and I still get the most amazing feeling when I listen to their new songs. I'm so grateful you're still here making music together and I never take it for granted, you guys are something special, thank you.

Metric had much bigger success around 10 or so years ago. When I started listening to them much music was still legitimately a thing.
criminally underrated
First song I heard from Metric was Breathing Underwater.I was blown away. Years later still love them, they never cease to amaze me. Killer sound, awesome style.
I live in the hell hole of FM music dominated by the local station Mountain FM. The only song that they played by Metric was breathing underwater and it was the perfect Drive song. If you haven't already, look up the song by The Cars called drive it's from their heartbeat City album from 1984. Same vibe

I could not possibly love this band more. What a cool video with the Miami vibe. Emily looks beautiful, the boys look cool and all the people of the city look great. I'm loving the Art of Doubt. just a brilliant album. I must catch Metric on tour!

@@MJ3-. Well, I think my problem is more so about stress and anxiety lately. Not as balanced, and even-keel & manageable. A lot of things are hard, when you're going through that. I write the most when my mind relaxes, and I find some calm amidst the storms.. Trying hard tho..

Metric's music always arrives when I need it most in my life. Dealing with a broken friendship and this song helps me push forward. Only silence can repair and restore myself wherever I lost it. Last time I felt this way was in High school. Going within and giving our pain the love it needs is the only way to heal the pain. It takes time and cannot be rushed, but one must keep going and not stop, no matter how much it hurts to move on from the pain and can't go back to what it was.

I'm really liking the new album. It has a little bit more teeth than the last one, but Metric is a band that keeps me hooked, no matter how different their sound changes album to album. They're all great.
Thanks to everyone who made this song hit the airwaves in the Vancouver BC suburbs. After I divorced, in 2013, I have dated a bit, but need to move on from the life that wasn't meant to be. I fell in love with her mask, her projection of what she thought I wanted. She was right about that, but it wasn't her. I don't know why she agreed to marry me. 2 damaged people trying to find self confidence I guess.
Now I moved to Canada and I'm building a new life and finding new growth in my spirit. Though I am still quite guarded, it is nice to see something in my spirit besides a tree with all the limbs chopped off.
Songs like this make me feel like someday I should set up a dating app, or at least try to allow some kind of attraction into my time left on Earth.
This song is so significant and meaningful right now with this pandemic. Not being close to family, and dealing with a breakup this song grounds me and keeps me sane even though it's difficult listening to it

My wife & I just caught the Toronto stop on their Art of Doubt tour ... it's 2 hours of dancing, swaying, singing & smiling. Great vibes coming from that stage & it resonates, the crowd is chill & just loving the tracks. Go see Metric if you haven't yet, now that I have, can't wait to catch them again!
Jason Kinder saw them open for the smashing pumpkins last year at msg during their reunion tour... I wasn’t really well acquainted with their music but they played a lot of new material (this song being one of them) and although me and my friend were chatting about what we were about to see during this song, I couldn’t help feel and groove to this song. I can say this and Anthems of a Seventeen Year Old made me a life long Emily Hanes fan lol

Yes, for some reason this song never gets old. I think that the composition of the song is genius, in that half of the song is taking you from sad , regretful, vibe into a neutral area of what to do about the past (silence and being alone to heal), it finally shufts in thr last part of the song to an optmistic, motivating athem that affirms the need for us to overcome our fears and jump in to what could be a womderous, new experience. It defitly is a engaging song that takes the listener on a journey that listens can empathzie with and align their own lives with the message of the song .
Thats why it never gets old. Its really great music!

Three or four years ago I presented a friend of mine this loveyley band. During this song she became pretty contemplative, she regarded me sadly and said something like: "Please listen to that song, look at the video, think about it and take it by hearth, I know that this music can touch your hearth and this song has just been written for you." It has taken years, I've been blind but destiny let me finally understand this message and since one or two months that song is something like the soundtrack of my soul. Thanks Metric and I think you'll know who you are.

When she sings the "Now or Never (Now, now)" part, I can feel it pulling some strings in my heart. Same with the music, esp in the beginning.... It feels physical almost, like it's just vibrating, echoing in those little chambers and pulsing in time with the beat. Is it just me?
I never really paid much attention to Metric, and they were mostly just another band that you hear on the radio. But then a couple months ago I noticed that I always get excited when one of their songs comes on. They were one of my favourite bands and I didn't even know it.
There's something about the intro to this song that just sounds amazing. It giving me many weird feels. Can't explain. It's like happiness, sadness and throw in some 1990's childhood nostalgia.
The thing that is magical about Metric is that their music and themes of their songs matures along with their audience. I wish more bands did that instead of trying to entice younger listeners following trends.
