Every single one is a neon confection of infectious chords, an undeniable backbeat, and lyrical soul candy that makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Wow, they need to put this band back on US radio! I just looked up this band after a long time, and they still got it and more! I saw them in Oakland 7 years ago, and they are welcome back in CA anytime.
metric is definitly an example of why it can be so hard to put a band into some generic category, their so unique, they combine so many different sounds and elements from different places, you can hear pop, indie, electronic, alt rock, punk all in the same song. I think their one of the most diverse bands out their. and one of the best, after all how many other bands that have been around as long as metric has are still putting out great music, damn near zero. Great video too. Separate note, look up winona ryder in blonde hair, her and emily are damn similar looking, every time i see winona i think oh theirs emily from metric in brown hair.
I'm so glad I finally found this song! I've been hearing it occasionally on 99.3 Fox FM (Vancouver, Canada) and was pretty sure it was Metric but just couldn't find it. It's been stuck in my head for a while now. Just a great song. Love the vocals and tasty guitar.
probably my favourite song from the album. I love this band more each day ! i had the honor to participate in the "love you back" video. Hugs from Argentina. xoxoxo
Fascinating to see and notice how memories are created or how association in your brain works. This song will always take me back to the peak of the corona pandemic. This song somehow made it to my list and i played the list during work. Each time i hear this song i see myself sitting at my desk at home. Sorry, ramblings of an old fool
To be this good and still not get the worldwide recognition this band deserves explains just how corrupt the music business actually is. Guys you all are so talented, please do not ever give up as your music resonates with so many people🎶🙏😊
the blocking on this video is amazing...all the changing light sources and angles, and all the movement and turning, and the camera person's shadow was either dodged the entire time, or maybe digitally removed, but either way, it looks amazing
This song really helped me get through a horrible breakup from a long term relationship, it helped me from being stuck on him. And now I'm doing so much better, I met someone who has also helped me through it all and I'm finally starting a new chapter in my life, thank you for this song, it means a lot to me.
I don't know if they write their own stuff but this song is an absolute masterpiece in every way. I don't think I've ever heard such a smooth transition to such a powerful chorus. I'm sure I'm not the only one that gets goosebumps when that change over occurs. It's sublime. Easily one of Canada's most underrated and best bands.
👋👋 Yes 'our' Emily writes lyrics . . I am so elated that I have followed the group since 1999. Her dad is a poet and for that we must thank Mr. Haines for passing on his gift to Emily. I cannot believe Emily will be 47 in couple of weeks and still takes over a stage like a teenager bopping about. The whole band of mates are all geniuses if you ask me.
@@mikeconstante6862 it's not mean at all. there's nothing wrong with Emily - and all of us - getting older and being in our 30s, 40s, etc. it's a natural process that we have to just accept
Even though there's vocal processing on this song, listening to her sing live is pretty amazing. Seach "metric unplugged" on RUclips and be amazed how smooth her voice is even unfiltered.
I agree that her voice is impressive. I disagree that she sounds young, she sounds mature and in control. 21 year olds practically never have this much skill and control. Age has value.
Eeee....so happy for you ... WHAT a catalogue of 'work' you have to go through. Plus all the great live videos shot and uploaded by the many across the globe that have been front and center to capture their rock solid talent. They sound the same live as in studio. Best to you as you venture forth in learning of their various periods in prior 20 years. Emily is simply poet bliss personified.
Daniel Zuk Or maybe it’s just fucking straight out rude to touch someone you don’t even know. Just because you pay for their music and you’re a fan doesn’t mean you can just go up to them and touch them.

And the award for the greatest underrated band goes to…….. Of course, most fans of Metric are so much more fortunate than anyone or anything that comes within 100 miles of an “award show”!

So you got away
Something brought you back
To the kid that you were
For a couple days
Everything you lacked
You possessed
It was yours
Started slow
Started late
Started strong
Then we lost faith
Started slow
Started to lose control
The more we accelerate
With your hollow eyes
You keep coming back
It begins to transform
Can you spend the night?
Can you be the raft
In the eye of the storm?
Started slow
Started late
Started strong
Then we lost faith
Started slow
Started to lose control
The more we accelerate
The more we accelerate
Can I send this kiss right to you now?
'Cause the risk belongs with you somehow
Can I return this kiss that you gave?
Already know it’s borrowed anyway
Was the risk I sent to you received?
All the words we say to be believed?
I’m already over the thrill of pursuit
Where can I take the risk I took with you?
Send this kiss to someone new?
So you're beaten up
But you bounce back
It’s all part of the pull
And the story runs
Like a soundtrack
We repeat 'til we're full
Started slow
Started late
Started strong
Then we lost faith
Started slow
Started to lose control
The more we accelerate
The more we accelerate
Can I send this kiss right to you now?

Find some daylight
There's another way to leave the Garden of Eden
And I'm inclined to try

I'm so glad I finally found this song! I've been hearing it occasionally on 99.3 Fox FM (Vancouver, Canada) and was pretty sure it was Metric but just couldn't find it. It's been stuck in my head for a while now. Just a great song. Love the vocals and tasty guitar.
2:47 it reminds me of a hymn I sung in church! Nice touch
This band gives the same feeling I get whenever I go to San Francisco: just raw excitement to be surrounded in unadulterated creativity and adventure.
probably my favourite song from the album. I love this band more each day !
i had the honor to participate in the "love you back" video. Hugs from Argentina. xoxoxo
All in one take. 😳Pure magic.🤩🙏🏻🥰💕🌞🤘🏻
I find her completely captivating and can't take my eyes off her. She is astounding. 500 of these hits must be mine.
Fascinating to see and notice how memories are created or how association in your brain works. This song will always take me back to the peak of the corona pandemic. This song somehow made it to my list and i played the list during work. Each time i hear this song i see myself sitting at my desk at home. Sorry, ramblings of an old fool
Lyrically, this album holds the gold. 🧗♀️🎤🥇
I'm glad. I just ordered the vinyl recently. Can't wait to enjoy the entire thing.
Incredible song. One of the best I’ve heard in a long time. That chorus has hooks for days.
And the following instrumental is just as good after the break!
To be this good and still not get the worldwide recognition this band deserves explains just how corrupt the music business actually is. Guys you all are so talented, please do not ever give up as your music resonates with so many people🎶🙏😊
Not everyone likes the same music you do...just saying.
the blocking on this video is amazing...all the changing light sources and angles, and all the movement and turning, and the camera person's shadow was either dodged the entire time, or maybe digitally removed, but either way, it looks amazing
It is an awesome video
most underrated song ever
This song really helped me get through a horrible breakup from a long term relationship, it helped me from being stuck on him. And now I'm doing so much better, I met someone who has also helped me through it all and I'm finally starting a new chapter in my life, thank you for this song, it means a lot to me.
There's another way to leave the garden of Eden...Such an amazing song.
Haines for passing on his gift
to Emily. I cannot believe Emily will be 47 in couple of weeks and still takes over a stage like a teenager bopping about. The whole band of mates are all geniuses if you
ask me.
dude, my spine tingles throughout the whole song!
Metric is awesome. I mean Emily is unbelievably beautiful. Great band. In my top ten for sure
She kills me when she sings “there’s another way to leave the garden of Eden”
Where the hell did this come from?!..took my breath away!...perfect!
it’s 2021, still truly madly deeply in love with this one ☝️
Wait until you find Pagans in Vegas!! AWESOME!!
Same🎉
My favorite track from the album! Lovely one-take video with our rock queen!
Fell n love & helped shed my ignorance of music & know its always on my hip, heart, or head. Thx E! Thank you Metric!!
First comment ever but I got hooked yrs prior
"There's another way to leave the Garden of Eden, and I'm inclined to try" . . . . Absolutely epic.
Her voice tone is so amazing. Sounds like she is in her 20s
this is nice and mean at the same time
@@mikeconstante6862 it's not mean at all. there's nothing wrong with Emily - and all of us - getting older and being in our 30s, 40s, etc. it's a natural process that we have to just accept
Even though there's vocal processing on this song, listening to her sing live is pretty amazing. Seach "metric unplugged" on RUclips and be amazed how smooth her voice is even unfiltered.
she even looks like she's in her 20s, she's aged so well
I agree that her voice is impressive. I disagree that she sounds young, she sounds mature and in control. 21 year olds practically never have this much skill and control. Age has value.
Instantly, this song takes me back to my high school years in the early 80s... that palm muted guitar, in particular.
listening this song since corona virus 2020 and now still listening haha this song never get old for long long time. Love from Indonesia
Once again Metric giving us the positive energy we need to get through these days.
Found Metric via Pandora and I’m smitten with their sound. This song, in particular. Helps me get through my day.
I discovered this band literally 2 days ago. I'm happy, but sad for all those lost years.
I'm very lucky to meet Metric. I've listened to every album they had! 😀
got vib .
find your own hahaha
Daniel Zuk Or maybe it’s just fucking straight out rude to touch someone you don’t even know. Just because you pay for their music and you’re a fan doesn’t mean you can just go up to them and touch them.
They touch me through their music
OMG! I love everything about this video. Emily Haines. Her looks, her moves, her singing. One of the best video/songs of the year. I want to send this kiss to some one new!
fuckyourslfe
Metric !!! Nothing else !!!
And the award for the greatest underrated band goes to……..
Of course, most fans of Metric are so much more fortunate than anyone or anything that comes within 100 miles of an “award show”!
Damn this is a good song! The raw emotion on her face is so beautiful
She is awesome, and the band, maybe more so!! Just a great composition!
My favorite find in years!!
Very Big in Canada! and I've liked them in the US since way back (18++ years ago) - Emily Hayes is extraordinarily talented and I had a glimpse of them at PNC in NJ pre-pandemic doing a small set opening for another band - very unfortunate there's no East Coast demand for them I wish I can see her closer to home!
I'll RISK to replay this song... Oh shit, something is wrong, I can't stop doing this!
