- There have only been a handful of Tiny Desk Concerts where NPR employees have overflowed our modest office space, stepping away from looming deadlines to hear some music. Jakob Dylan and his touring companions, Neko Case, Kelly Hogan and Paul Rigby, joined those ranks when they stopped by to perform a mesmerizing, stripped-down set of songs from his latest record, Women and Country.

to me he already has, I grew up with the Wallflowers and still listen to them today, I think Jakob Dylan is a majorly underestimated talent
He's always had his own style. his songwriting has always been very simple and touching and vulnerable. Always have loved his music and he deserves more credit than simply being his father's son.

I understand he is regarded very highly in his genre without Bob overshadowing him. I saw him live up close and personal in Boston and he was amazing !

I keep coming back to Jakob Dylan. The Wallflowers and solo, he got no favors, and he's got his own thing, completely. I hope to hear that he's making a new album of any kind, soon.

So talented in so many ways. Truly blessed with that voice. Saw the band live on the Bringing Down the Horse album.. Evansville indiana, 1995.
I can still remember when Jakob walked back out for the encore. Now he was wearing his brimmed hat and crooned out "I Wish I Felt Nothing" ..beyond amazing

Something very comforting and natural about Jakob's vocals and style.
Good god...the Jackson Browne influence is there, the voice is a gift, but it's all his own; he can hold his own in any room.

Jakob has been amazing to me from Wallflowers to all his solo stuff, like his father he is a consummate artist with a real skill for word smithing, but as much as he is his father's son he is his own man. His style and song shaping are COMPLETELY different than his father's and I so rarely hear that said. He truely is amazing.
If he inherited anything, it's his father's gift for being enigmatic. He'll be around for a long time.
I'm just so overwhelmed by how many of my favorite artists have done concerts for this channel...

I just love Jakob Dylan and The Wallflowers. I always have. He is so talented and his voice makes my soul soar. We just saw him in Newport, and have tickets to see him again in NH in a couple weeks. I cannot wait. He is just awesome, and so engaging with the audience.

Anointed. I think that Bob's mantel has fallen onto Jakob's shoulders; yet, he is truly unique as well. This touches my heart and mind on so many levels. Thank you for this gift. The ladies are amazing as well. The other gentleman, Paul Rigby, is also marvelous. Also, Jimmy Rainbows is quite talented. The harmony sounds angelic.
Wallflowers are one of the best ever. Love is a country is an amazing song.
Neko and Jacob. damn. What kind of guitar is Jacob playing? Neko doesn't give a fuck. I saw her in the late 90's in Calgary at a place called the Night Gallery for the first time. A buddy said I had to see her. When she took the stage she was in her pajamas and could barely speak from a horrible flu. She apologized that she could only do a few songs and that her voice was done. Well she just fucking wailed on the 5 songs she did. Parted my hair I think. Unreal. Worth every penny and more to get in. She couldn't speak when she was done. What a performer.

Liked it all -- the 2nd tune has a great sound, especially capo-ing the guitar up and with shaker for the rhythm.

I don't see why people constantly try to compare his song writing with Dylan. He is his own person folks. Bet you wouldn't even make such criticisms if you didn't know who he was.
Jakob paints these gorgeous landscapes with his lyrics....I mean, Bob's cool and iconic, but I really really like Jakob's music better! Just being honest! :)
Bob Dylan is a million universes beyond 'cool and iconic'. Go deep into every element of American roots music and then put alllll of it together - and that is just the *language* , the paint, Bob Dylan uses in his works and performances

I ever thought about Jakob: Nice guy who is with little success trying to live up to the too big heritage of his old man.
This vid is the first time I recognize him as a genuine musician....I was wrong.

It's a shame we don't hear anything of Jakob these days..still sounds as beautiful as ever & better than some that are raking in the dough today. He really has a better voice than his Dad but probably not the talent?? (song writing ability) I loved his Dad in the '60s and early '70s...saw him many times, and 4 times in 1 yr when he and The Band did their concert tour. Wow, how Awesome that was!!!
Really good material there. He has found his own style and sound, for sure. The interesting thing is, though, if you close your eyes and imagine it was Jackson Browne....well, it could be. And that would be just fine, because Jackson Browne is about as good as it gets. Jakob Dylan is another gift Bob Dylan inadvertently has given to the world. I'll have to see if I can get his new record.
