Thanks for that. Hardwood plywood is my preferred board. When it comes to OSB I just don’t trust the stuff to handle loads or when it’s in humid environments.
Hi! Your channel has been so entertaining and helpful as I try to put together a home climbing wall. Thanks a million! I'm using mostly the 13-layer (18mm) baltic birch because its the material I usually stock in my shop for my other inventory, its beautiful stuff. I'd like to add that if you are choose this, its not only pricey and heavy, but most importantly when you put it through the table saw the edge can be KNIFE SHARP. I've sliced open my palm on it many times, and I just wanted to let people know if they are new to the stuff. Hit the edge with some sandpaper before you handle it.
Hello, is 3/4inch thickness means it is 18mm or 13 layer, i am very new to wood project but we are planning to build a 4'x8' rock climbing wall for our kids, i appreciate your response, thank you in advance!
Lots of people have built outdoor walls lately. They do make plywood for outdoor aplications, I would recommend going with those and consider painting it with an exterior paint so it will last.
It would be awesome if you did a collaboration video with Project Farm and see what the pullout strengths are of different T-nuts in the different plywoods. Not that you couldn't do it yourself... but this is right up Project Farm's alley and it might give you more subscribers lol. You'd probably need to give worst case scenario: T nut in the middle of either a 16" square or 24" square plywood piece. Oh, and add CDX plywood to the test batch. Great video though! Super informative.
That's what I was thinking... Perhaps a jig that can hold a 1 square foot board, with a T-nut directly in the center. You could add layers of plywood if you want to test the T-nut itself, or test the plywood in a single layer.
Agreed. These are interesting tests, but not really germane to the application or likely failure. The way you are using plywood for a climbing wall, you need to test the strength pulling on the Tee Nut through the plywood. For holds, it is shear/delaminating failures you would be worried about.
I wander what applications this break test would be🤔 maybe you can make a t-nut pullout from the different boards. I also agree OSB is useless for climbing structures.....
Although it doesn't have a direct application it does show the strength differences between the plywood tested, which can give us an idea of what is better. If someone would like to sponsor a more applicable test I have a couple in mind but right now this is self funded. 😀
Dude! I Love your videos, Keep making awesome content! I hope your page blows up! It got to me when you realized you weren't recording lol. I love these videos though! I'll be praying for you and your awesome fam. Great work brother.

I would be calmer if you wore some protective gear!

Should be both.
I was like oh u got a sponsor!!! Then nope 😂
Hello, can I use the plywood for an outside boulder wall? Nice video 💪🏻

CDX is the one big one that I missed.
would be cool to see how each of these can withstand the force exerted through a t-nut!

Is 19mm "contrachapado fenólico" de pluma good? Thats what muy friend told me to build volumen... With
More ply's, better. 19mm is a good thickness.
This looks so fun!
Perfect video I needed!!! Please make more with as much depth in such important questions
Great content man this was really helpful 👍
whats on that flag in the background?
AL state flag and signatures of people I stayed with while I lived there, along time ago 😳
@@climberdad ah. seems like they were probably the best two years
