Hey there, I find cheaper to use M6 threaded inserts as replacement to those from escape, those M6 inserts work great up to 5mm screws, and cost about 3€ for 50 pack.
I'm planning to build a climbing wall over the summer with my summer job payment money. I've already made about 60 different holds in a span of a month or so. They have came up real nice. I have no power tools exept for a drill so it is always hell of a sanding. Keen on the project. edit : DIY wooden climbing holds (drill, hand saw, sandpaper and a file) imgur.com/gallery/ueNFK9Z
@@KrugerVideos I live in Finland so the craigslist is not available. But yeah I've heard that it's very handy. Should probably look for one from the local stores.
Yep. The insert, more than just a washer, used in this video requires a flat base to sit on. If I use a fluted bolt or screw without this insert then I would counter sink it 😀
Question! When drilling screw ons onto a hardwood plywood wall will normal screws split the wood. Do I need to use self drilling screws? Should I drill a pilot hole? Im currently building your freestanding system board - the plans were a lot of help. Cheers!
Your videos are great! But the video quality is not so good.. I feel like the problem resides in the framerate. Make sure that you are in 24 fps. Keep on the good work :)
That bolt slot is brilliant. Nice work.
Thanks. I believe Voodoo climbing holds had slots like that first, at least they are the first ones I've seen :)
good diy thanks
🤩
You're welcome 😁
Just about to build my own wall and finding your videos very helpful
That first hold you made is so awesome! I’m going to try and replicate it.
Another great video! Thanks for sharing the info, as always.
As always, great video.
Those covers on that big hold.... so cool!
Nice! I’m finishing up my small home setup today. Home made holds are up next and your videos are a great help! 😄
For smaller holes for the washer on pieces of wood, you can use an AN960 washer that has a smaller outside diameter than normal washers.

Thanks man!
I started making my own holds out of wood. What can I use to seal them if I am going to be using them on an outside climbing wall
In this video, you use the paddle bit but the other video use the countersunk bit, why? Is that just for the washer? Thanks

Another super useful video, thanks! How can I search for those little inserts used in the last hold? Cheers from Italy!
escape climbing lonestar
brilliant!!!
Thanks!

I would drill a pilot hole with a counter sink bit like the snappy bits shown in the video. I'll put a link in the description.
@@climberdad thanks so much, I'll let you know how it goes!
Was that little guy your son?! He looks like a tiny Alex Megos, what a future climbing legend!
Thanks. He just has fun with it now and we don't train hard. Usually people will stop climbing to watch him climb when he comes into the gym.

Thanks. I do everything from my phone right now. I'll see if I can bump up the fps.
