@@HunkMine No, I don't believe this video was only interesting to people aged 23-38 (millenial age bracket). I had very little understanding of what Twitch is or how big it is. This video was quick and informative for me.
IceHax that’s my point. It’s the youtube normie kids who watch him. Also, his numbers have fallen off a lot in the past month. But yeah, Twitch has a whole subculture of memes and communities that people who are new to Twitch never find because Twitch would rather promote the politically correct streamers who cater to a younger audience of Fortnite kids.
Twitch is more attractive and healthy to content creators in that they earn money directly from viewers (subs, bits, donations) while monetizing on YT is a shady complicated unpredictable uncontrollable matter where creator depends on AI algorithms, YT policies, community strikes and a bunch of other factors.
@Xipo86 The boob streamers needs to go but Just Chatting needs to stay. Twitch already has enough strict rules but I feel like they're not enforcing them on these boob streamers. It's more like they are protecting them.
Yeah youtube is finally doing more direct viewer fundraising with the "join" thing but it doesn't seem like enough. Twitch streamers make the majority of their revenue directly from their viewers, youtube needs to shift that way too
I love using Twitch! Being a Partner has been a great experience, and has allowed me to become immersed in the gaming and livestreaming industry. It was so cool to see this video spotlight how Twitch has been changing the game, and I'm proud to be part of this amazing community.
Ming Dinkleburg wtf? they silence people who talk about those strip streamers who purposely show off their cleavage if you ever talk about them they will strike you with harassment.
@Jesus Zamora Not really, employing more than half a million people across the globe and contributing to the ever expanding economy is their business model while providing consumers the best prices and the convenience of ordering products from their couch & without having them make any adjustments to their regular schedules. Pretty amazing business model if you ask me.
Jesus Zamora cuz they haven’t made money in the past, they will start paying taxes soon once they actually start being cash flow positive for an extended period of time
That CEO is correct because even if he would still be in the mindset to innovate and progress if they had no competition his employees might get the feeling that they don't need to be and do better and that could progress especially in the lower level positions.
indian pubg viewers barely get hundreds, stop blowing this out of the water. Indian culture isn't one that supports streaming for a living and gaming, so most companies dont see the value in investing resources into it.
I'm a gamer and I watch multiple Twitch streams per week from a few content creators. This is a very good, honest look into the world of live streaming. Nice job, CNBC.
@zztop3000 Did you even watch? It's explained in the video lol For me, it's because I like the person who's streaming. By the way, it's free to watch anyone.
@zztop3000 You probably watch football or any kind of sport and never played the sport. Watching a sports game is the same thing as watching people playing video games. It's all about entertainment. Also, I could tell you never watched the video too.
@Oh Yeah Yeah twitch prime requires a linked amazon prime account in order to be Feesable ; due to the fact, it's not possible for twitch prime to be available in such countries. Moreover, twitch doesn't treat any country better or worse with intent. There's no argument here, mostly due to lack of evidence of so. edit: you didn't mention one valid point as to why Twitch neglects India??
@Oh Yeah Yeah From what I understand, they're working on bring it to India; so they're not neglecting or disrespecting the Indian gaming scene. Most likely, they're still experiencing growing pains.
It's so easy to meet different types of people on Twitch, literally the best part besides there always being someone to play a game you want to watch at any given moment
What makes Twitch work is that it is beautiful to watch a good player play a game. Most of us have stood behind gamers playing the games and now it is brought online for us so definitely, it will pull the crowd.
I know about twitch from my son who is a streamer. This is a worldwide enterprise that 99% of people over age 50 have no idea it even exists. That is the phenomenal story.
A few years ago, I was working for a French TV channel ("Nolife") and we had a live broadcast that was simultaneously streamed on Twitch. After the actual broadcast we would stop the TV stream and stay on Twitch for a little Q&A moment. That was back in 2015/2016. Good times.
That dude from twitch is an awesome person. His attitude is great when he was talking about competition being healthy for the industry and giving consumers the best possible product.
Lord Wafkak honestly twitch prime really helped to engage more people because it gave people free subs each month and the owners got a ton of money, amazon stock and got to stay in charge
Based on what factor? You do realize Twitch isn't profitable right? They bleed half a billion in net losses every year; which arguably isn't much for Amazon... but still... Amazon basically pays for a new twitch acquisition every 2 years now, with no clear path to break even
Stanley Ma it’s not based on profit earned its valuation. Twitch has exploded since amazon has bought them. Their viewership numbers have like 4x in the past 4 years since twitch was bought. www.google.com/amp/s/www.wired.com/2016/08/twitch-could-be-a-20-billion-company-inside-amazon/amp and the valuation is about 20B from the 1B they spent to buy it.
youtube feels like there is too much going to just focus on gaming like we dont know where the gaming button is it feels very unorganized. twitch feels like it is entirely focussed on gaming
The amount they got from Amazon was too less, if they might have waited for 2-3 years more then they would have at least got 3-4 times of what they got. Twitch really has a lot of potential.
There is a large large difference between minutes streamed and minutes watched. Minutes streamed is just an individual streaming time, and minutes watched is that time multiplied by the average viewers. They said that there was only ~1 billion minutes watched this month, but OWL by itself had close to 7 billion in week one, so that statement is inaccurate.
Amazon didn't do this, twitch did. Amazon just bout something with a huge number of eyeballs so it can market to users they wouldn't normally be able to reach.
The biggest problem with RUclips gaming live streaming is their chat. Literally, their chat makes the platform unbearable and their video player doesn’t help either. Twitch is just better.
Amazing how much traffic a website I didn’t even know existed gets. I guess I didn’t realize how big computer games have gotten. Damnit I’m getting old.
UnDefinedLegacy I didn’t know that, interesting. It makes sense when you consider the psychology and the learning aspect of it, I wondered how interesting watching other people play video games could possibly be.
Watching video games is comparable to watching pro sports in some cases. Watching to see high level play of something you like. Or the opposite. Something so bad you enjoy it.
Sport commentating by streams sounds really cool. I could eventually see streamers who commentate everything, from Olympic events to political debates.
It turned that little boy in CO Springs into a little hellion and then his step mommy baby sitter got rid of him. So maybe Twitch is harming little kids, turns them weird?
