It's great to see them side by side. I sent my colour nova back and replaced it with the standard nova 3 as I wanted it for reading. I found the blue light on the colour nova very unpleasant, the screen was very dark and the ghosting seemed worse for some reason.
Unfortunately in my country, I cannot return the item easily. Now I can only "trade-in" instead. I tried to find reasons to love the color version (I have coloured materials to read most of the time), but I just cannot accept the ghosting effect as well as the subtle yet visible "lines" whenever I read.
@@sshyuann With my regular boox I still had to use a lot of app optimization tweaks to minimise ghosting. I hope these will make your colour nova look better :-)
I wish the color filter was removable. Although the Nova 3 color looks better than the first gen color e ink.

I hope Eink would continue to improve on the Black and White display. If it can improve to 256 shades of grey, images would display quite acceptably. For now, the color eink has too much compromises on display quality. I would use my phone or laptop if I need to enjoy colour content.

Great video thanks. Just received my Nova 3 Color really great device. Did you have any issues with other comic readers (other than the built in one which works fine) the images are grainy and have a red cast very odd?

I don't find the difference in clarity that big a deal. That being said I have enough readers to open a store but I still like the Nova 3 Color. My other go to reader is my LikeBook Mars.
Like sure there's less contrast with it seemingly being slightly more yellow looking but honestly in most situations I'd probably prefer that over a pure white page
Will you also compare the Pocketbook Inkpad color vs the inkpad black and white?
No, I don't own a regular InkPad, and the comparison would be exactly the same as this one anyway since they use the same screens.

The Nova 3 has the Ink Carta Plus while The Nova air the Ink Carta HD. Does anybody know the difference between the two screens?
Thanks for the review, But arrrrrhg I'm so confused between this and the InkPad color... I wanna know if the notes I would take in the pdf or epub could be of other color rather than black? like u were using yellow highlighter or red pen, I take notes with two colors hehe. And about the reading experience I want it for b/w books and the color just for PDF's academic articles were I need full color for the graphics and images, I don't like color books like comics, manga or some kind. Could u recommend me btwn these two? or maybe another...
There are 8 line colors to choose from on the regular model. They only show black on the device but show the colors when exported. Personally I like the regular Nova better so I would get it. If you want color I'd get a tablet. Wait for the Fire HD 10 to go on sale and you can basically get both for the price of the Nova Color.
Is that possible to turn off/on color layer in Nova 3 Color when I want? And then it could serve perfectly sharp for text reading as regular Nova 3. And next when I want read something in color turn on the functionality. Or this is not working like that?
No, it doesn't work like that. The color is achieved through a filter that goes over the screen.

is it possible to surf the web with the color version? i read a lot of news stories on news sites. sometimes they have color photos. wonder how that would look and feel? or apps such as NY Times, or Smart News. i have a max2 -- and I chiefly read pdfs and books. i really miss having a front light. i have it on my paperwhite... and I may buy the nova3 just to have a slightly larger screen and a front light.
It's not really going to be any different than browsing the web on your Max 2, just with color. They have a newer browser app now but it's E Ink so visually it's not much different.
Does it support kindle app & books? This is new to me..
