This looks like the perfect balance between price, functionality and comfort for me. I sold my Kindle Paperwhite because it just wasn't versatile enough. My girlfriend has a 10.2" iPad, which has load of functionality and power, but it's just a bit too big to be comfortable as an e-reader, and the LCD screen can be hard on the eyes. I ended up changing my mind and getting an iPad 10.2", and it's the perfect device for me, for reading and note taking. You can do split screen on the Nova, but it's so tiny that it's not really worth it.
@@tekuali7128 - I have the Nova 3 and love it - true it is a bit small in split screen but the note air would be big enough and cheaper than the i pad you have bought, and easier to hold (possibly lighter?) due to the side bezel. Also, how are you coping with the screen glare and the weight? I have a Samsung S6 lite and love it BUT it is SO heavy and the screen glare kills me - gives me headaches and eye strain if I use it to write on or read on for any length of time. These tablets really aren't suitable for reading in my opinion. Mot to mention the benefits of having no distractions on an e-reader - the times I end up reading articles, shopping, catching up on facebook etc, when I should be reading and taking notes!!

I've been using nova 3 for sometime now. It takes some time to configure the tablet. But once you figured out, it's a really useful Eink reader. I would recommend nova 3 over any other boox models and all the other e ink readers on the market. I bought it for about 300 bucks and some change on wellbot. No tax no shipping cost, had a $30 website coupon applied also.

For taking notes, you may consider note 3 just because the size makes it easier to take notes especially when you use the split-screen function, which is common for students. I bought a note 3 too, if you get a note 3, the pen that comes with the tablet is a little different, it feels like writing on paper, better feel than Staedtler pen. that's my user experience. Tips generally don't seem to wear out fast.
Very nice. I've been looking into getting a new e-reader, but really needed to stop and think about what I wanted to get out of it. This one resonates with me. It's fast, and has a simple storage solution for me (instead of a bookstore focused one). I have considerations toward manga and notes and this would let me keep my options open. The split screen has me very excited. Definitely a high contender. Thanks for the review.

@Anonymous Person - it is excellent - new version of operating system has layers in notes too. I find the note books very intuitive with an easy to arrange system of folders and notebooks within folders. There are lined templates as well as musical staves.

A new menu appears down the left side: the third option from top - or 14th from bottom - looks like three pages on top of each other with a "1" on the front. Press on this and it offers you "Templates" - press on this and you will see 3 pages of templates to use - lines are on second page and you can choose how narrow you want them. Now, every page in the notebook will be lined. The Nova takes some getting to know - it took me ages to work out how to name a file and move it - lol!! But now I find the system of notebooks and folders really intuitive - good luck - I love mine!!

Give me this screen size in e-ink with colour and I would be delighted. Now that there are a couple of six inch e-ink colour readers on the market hopefully one of them will make a larger version.
It would look terrible on e-ink. The contrast and paper-like images, however, are a game-changer. It's like looking at a framed paper, especially when you turn off the front light.
well the pages turn just fine on google books on the nova 3 - and Kindle app is great too - I doubt you will feel you are missing much and the benefits to your eyes is worth it.
I found that the nook app does it on this device. It does it as well as any e-ink would possibly do haha, so not perfectly but it's no biggie, just a fun feature I enjoy ☺️
I still have not decided whether to buy nova 3 onyx or the likebook ares note. What do you advise me???? I need that have the Spanish language please help me, thanks

@Pascal St - hope this isn't too late but yes you can annotate pdfs on the Nova 3 - there neo reader is excellent for ebooks and pdfs. However, I find the ai handwriting to text is a bit glitchy - accurate word recognition but it gets the word order muddled up

Yes you can get all your Google play books and Kindle books - once you activate the apps they will automatically appear just as they do on your tablet.

Click on that and there will be a whole load of options - different width lines, even a musical stave. Plus you can now add layers so that you can have pages within pages - very cool!!
All mainstream emr pens should work. The remarkable pen works with it, I bought the staedtlar emr pen and it works also, the lamy emr pen should work too

I have the Nova 2. I like the fact that the Nova 3 has a speaker. I could probably use a bigger screen such as the Boox 10.8 inch device but the Nova 2 will do for now.
Id say NO because they work in a different way. A Wacom tablet has no screen which is why you need to attach a screen to see what you are drawing - these are more like using a note app or drawing app on a tablet.
This was not a thorough review of the note taking feature. The 2 couldnt even distinguish new lines of text . would like to see how it handles more than 2 words.
The nova 2 is still for sale, almost identical and is 50 dollars less or you could try getting a used original Remarkable, plenty of them going around and can be had on eBay for like ~250 dollars, reading software isn't as good but it's great to write on
You can check out the Mobiscribe..their new Origin model is on pre-order and will be out in about a month. It’s a little smaller and not as capable but is cheaper.
Just received a the Nova 3 from GER and was extremely dissatisfied. Moving from screen to screen is not smooth at all, the screen has shadows and it doesn't seem to like Kindle or the Google Play Store. Even after updating the device, neither Google Play nor Kindle will work. I've requested an RMA to return the device. Bummer, I was really stoked about the reviews and the device was a big let down.
Well, I just got mine 5 days ago and it is outstanding. Love everything about it and Google Play Store works fine. Of course, it takes a day or two to learn how to use the device's most important features but putting in the time is well worth it...

I think the ceramic tip pens are the Supernote pens. Most people get the Al-Star Lamy...my favorite is this pen but with the Boox nib in it.
