I’m so happy that I’m part of the few who get excited hearing and seeing someone play guitar like that... I can’t explain it, it just instantly entrances me and puts a smile on my face.
To the guys commenting on how everyone ignores him... Busking is pretty much like that, occasionally you'll have a group of people that stop to watch a few songs, but mostly people just pass by without a quick glance. I think people try to avoid looking at you for fear they'll have to give you money, so they just stare straight ahead and try their best to ignore. I've even had my stuff (guitar casing for money and sign) be trampled once or twice by people who were really intent on pretending I wasn't there. Ever since I first went out to play on the streets I've gained a lot of appreciation for street artists and begun giving out more money, because I know how happy we feel when we receive it. And the children are the absolute best, they can't stop themselves from getting close and being awestruck at your music, made my days constantly. Wish Covid would end soon to go back to the streets!
I agree. people are afraid to look. they will even stare down the street looking for the bus instead of turning the other direction and looking at me. i’ve had joggers run into me, Drunks that shoulder check me, people step on my bag, ride over it with bikes or wheelchair. kids are definitely the best. The problem is the parents often will drag them away just while the kid is trying to enjoy it. I absolutely hate that.
This blew my mind. You really took that song and owned it. I have never seen anyone play it quite like that before or as 👍. That was amazing. Been watching some of your other stuff all really great keep up the good work. I hope you are appreciated.
Being a TEXAN, Billy, Frank and Dusty would say...COOOOL BROTHER. I've seen them 20 plus times over the years. Great rendition. A true muscian like yourself realizes that simply playing the LP version is...Yes, I'm envious of your skills.
That was epic! I was sitting on the patio at the pub to your right enjoying a burger and a beer while visiting from Calgary a few summers ago....then you started playing. Damn that was a fantastic set. I had to give you a ten spot as i felt gifted by just being there. So glad I found your channel.

This is simply one of the best pieces of guitar playing I have ever heard. The tone is great; Every note is spot on; and the feel and timing are perfection. Great choice of tune Robyn and great execution
Your guitar playing is phenomenal. I don’t understand how everyone just keeps walking by and not watching.Keep up the great work man. Be safe out there
There are various answers to this invisibility. 1) Most people are so self-centred these days they get offended by someone else’s talent. I actually get verbally abused while playing, told to shut up, fuc off, even when playing quietly. I’d make more money if I stood there taking selfies, because that’s the level of talent most people can identify with. 2) People have no concept of what a musician is any more and the amount of work it takes to be one. I’ve had stunned kids take pictures of me and tell me they are doing a report on me at school because they have never seen a live musician before. 3) Guitar is no longer played on the radio or used in songs so they have no concept of what guitar is. 4) guitar solos are completely out of fashion for the last 20 years and mean nothing to mostly everyone under the age of 50. It’s dinosaur music played on a dinosaur instrument. It’s not rap or hip hop, so their lizard brains can’t process what I’m doing. 5) Music is an over abundant commodity that is now mostly free and has no value. 6) Context. I’m seen by most people as a homeless beggar/bum so they see no value in what I’m doing, and are in fact actively trying to avoid me. Nothing scares people more than being near what they see as a ‘poor street person’. 7) stopping or appreciating means being forced to think about leaving a tip, which makes most people uncomfortable. 8) I’m not a cute 10-year-old. I’ve seen talentless busking kids. They make way more money because they’re cute. No one gives a shit about an old man, no matter how good he is. 9) It’s an arts hating city full of angry apathetic zombies who can’t afford to live here because of number 10. Vancouver is infamous for being the most antisocial shithole in Canada, if not the world. 10) Worst audience I’ve ever seen, and I’ve played everywhere. Full of condo flipping foreign investment aholes (one of them used to be my friend) that will bury a historic music venue if it makes them a buck, and their kids, students that buy mansions to launder money from their parents who don’t even live here. This causes an ever spiralling lack of affordable living space for locals, raising anger at a geometric rate. I’ve lived here for 35 years and it is a shell of what it once was in the early 80’s. Huge homeless problem. Huge drug problems. Huge divide between the rich and poor. Huge amounts of money being laundered and the politicians don’t give a shit about the people that actually live here. They tried to fix real estate abuse loopholes five years ago but that was 30 years too late. The damage is already done. Average lifespan of someone who moves here is six months to a year before they get disgusted and move away again. Huge transient population running on a tourist economy. Vancouver produces nothing of value and likes to think of itself as a major international city when in fact it’s just a sad village that doesn’t even know how to recycle plastic. I’m in the same apartment for 16 years and can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve had a conversation with any of my neighbors, because most of them don’t live here long enough to even get to meet them.
@@shatnershairpiece I completely get what you're saying. I'm jealous of your talent but that's because I dearly wish I could play at least some basic chords, but don't have the patience.....my dad was great on the guitar and he taught himself to play. Keep up the good work!!!
@@shatnershairpiece to throw rap and hip hop under the bus is kinda ugly hearted... Yes, the majority of contemporary rap and hip hop is nonsense, especially mumble and trap. REAL rappers are poets who can tell a story... It's no different than when people call hard rock and metal "devil music"...
@shatnershairpiece the government wants to keep it that way. The more mindless songs people listen to like rap and hiphop, the less their brains get used and less creativity leads to an easier population to control.
That is incredibly good, never heard something that great on a street corner. There should be a crowd in the hundreds around. That was amazing, love that song. Thank you so much!!
Wow, I am surprised the street didn't catch fire! It's not hard to see why Jimi considered Billy G. amongst the greatest guitarists ever... and you do one hell of a job ripping this over to the top! Excellent job and a fitting tribute to Dusty.
Why do people keep saying Jimi said that I’m pretty sure he said Rory Gallagher. ZZ Top released their first album a whole year after Hendrix passed away there’s no way Hendrix would’ve even known of Billy.
I got to see ZZ Top, Ted Nugent and Double Trouble with Kenny Wayne Shepherd for my very first concert ever. It was at the Journal Pavilion in Albuquerque NM. I wish I could have seen Stevie Ray Vaughan with Double Trouble, but for someone my age I was lucky enough to see them perform. Keep shredding brother, this brought back some good memories.
Hello 👋 Diane. How are you doing ? Hope you are fine. I'm Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado, where are you from ? You seem like a real country girl
My only critique of ZZ has been that they need to hire someone, give them a fake beard and a pair of sunglasses, and have them stand back by Rube, creating the rhythm fills. That's the way that we grew up on their music, the way we know their songs. Hairpiece is playing over a rhythm track and it smokes. RIP Dusty. Your mark on music is indelible.
Just how great of a guitar player do you have to be to have people stop and listen. When I was young if someone was playing like that on the sidewalk there would be traffic jams and crowds forming.
problem is that guitar has gone out of style. It really peaked in the 70s and 80s and since then it has dropped out of popular music completely, especially solos. only the people over 60 understand and appreciate what I’m doing.

I for one do not take my senses for granted. I am so blessed to have them all. I cherish smelling wild flowers, hearing the birds, seeing beautiful sunsets and feeling soft things like a baby’s skin or petting a furry animal. Some people don’t realize what they have till they’ve lost it. I try to soak in as much as I can. And I do appreciate people displaying their talents. God bless them.
Thank you sir, you've given me a good memory of that corner to heal on old bad one. that music transcends the bad vibes and helped refocus me a bit. I used to live and work around that exact corner. I’m so happy that I’m part of the few who get excited hearing and seeing someone play guitar like that... I can’t explain it, it just instantly entrances me and puts a smile on my face.
I counted only five people who even looked at him. WTF???
It wasn't Bieber hahaha

Hate to say it, but its not everyones taste of music
@@jarlett3793 I mean yeah but how often do you get to see someone this talented just out and about performing?
I think it's just too generic for people to really even take the time to even listen.
I've seen quite a few of your videos, but I think this is about the best ever. Terrific job.
Holy Mother of God! What a guitarist. If I had passed by him I probably won't make at time in my job
People are so numb now these days. They don’t appreciate anything. That was the best cover ive heard of La Grange. Keep up the good work.
Thanks! Glad you appreciate it! Not many do!
That's because none of it is in the song ! What is it, the VanHalen version ?
Being a TEXAN, Billy, Frank and Dusty would say...COOOOL BROTHER. I've seen them 20 plus times over the years. Great rendition. A true muscian like yourself realizes that simply playing the LP version is...Yes, I'm envious of your skills.
Maybe 20 years ago when my son recovered his car that had been stolen, he was most excited to get back his ZZ Top tickets.
That was epic! I was sitting on the patio at the pub to your right enjoying a burger and a beer while visiting from Calgary a few summers ago....then you started playing. Damn that was a fantastic set. I had to give you a ten spot as i felt gifted by just being there. So glad I found your channel.
People don't understand the dedication and desire it takes to bring life to inanimate objects ... Comments are made by people such as me but only the great makes trees sing so sweet... Awesome display of talent
I grew up with ZZTOP and this is on of my favorite songs. R.I.P DUSTY, thank you for all the good times
Hello 👋 Ann. How are you doing ? Hope you are fine. I'm Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado, where are you from ? You seem like a real country girl
This is simply one of the best pieces of guitar playing I have ever heard. The tone is great; Every note is spot on; and the feel and timing are perfection. Great choice of tune Robyn and great execution
As a Houstonian , I approve !
R.I .P. Dusty Hill : bass so thick, you can walk on it !
Stunning interpretation - incredible finger-work. Just gorgeous...
Simply amazing! He's using his forefinger as a pick and then back to finger style.
Super Nice Guitar Playing!!! Can't believe zero crowds. This guy is Good!!
@@shatnershairpiece From one musician to another, thank you and keep killin' it.

And it's not hard to see why Jimi was overlooked in the USA until Chas Chandler unleashed him onto swinging London.
Why do people keep saying Jimi said that I’m pretty sure he said Rory Gallagher. ZZ Top released their first album a whole year after Hendrix passed away there’s no way Hendrix would’ve even known of Billy.
I love how Dusty just appears out of nowhere at 0:55
In the lower left.
You are INSANELY talented!! AMAZING! BRAVO!!
I dont usually give money to beggars, but l give money to performers because they earned it. This guy i'd give double. What a player!
Ok, wow. This is insane! That guy has an unbelievable signature himself.
Freaks me out that people just walk by and ignore. Dude your playing is awesome. Thank you. RIP Dusty.

Man when your too busy to stop and enjoy that kinda badass jammin it’s time to slow the hell down. That was epic!
Zzz top is one of my altime fav band's he needs a record deal
Camera angle has to be the best ever used to show the finger work required to produce such legendary sounds. Man, I'm in love with this dude's skill.
Agreed
I never liked this song as a kid way back then, but after watching you play it. I am sold 40 years later.
@@shatnershairpiece I guess your right, just ask a harp player. Harp or guitar, when played so expertly still looks and sounds like magic to me.

Had to come back and watch this amazing performance again. I've watched other people try to cover this song and nobody covers it this well, not even Slash. Robin, you are a master.
Thanks a lot! I was in the zone on this one!
I can't believe that this guy doesn't have a huge crowd around him and a guitar case overflowing with bills. WTF country is he in, North Korea? That was absolutely masterful my friend! Great cover😎
I'm just blown away everytime I see a video here. What an effing rockstar just out on the street absolutely killing it, blowing people away. Wait a minute..who is this guy?? He just set that guitar on fire with a legendary zz top song and people are just walking by and not even acknowledging the greatness of what they are hearing. Look, anytime that song is played stop and give it a nod, and secondly anytime the lead guitar in that song is played that well definitely stop and give it a nod....great job. It’s the same people who don’t take time to listen to the birds singing in the trees. I just think about what if something happens and they lose their hearing. Will they regret not listening more? I for one do not take my senses for granted. I am so blessed to have them all. I cherish smelling wild flowers, hearing the birds, seeing beautiful sunsets and feeling soft things like a baby’s skin or petting a furry animal. thanks. it seems only the really young still connect with what I’m doing. It’s always kids from the age of three to maybe 10 that’s still respond spontaneously. and then is a large gap of about 50 years where no one cares and then I get the senior citizens that will dance to what I’m doing. if my audience was kids and seniors, it would be much more pleasant.
