- Hello RUclipsrs! Welcome to another regatta prep video. This time heading to Marlow Regatta with similar prep. 1000m on the water a few days before. Also thought I'd share a little more during filming. Enjoyed this piece, felt reasonable and tried a slight change with the technique. Unfortunately won't know how the speed measures up until we get out there on race day! Let me know what you think of the episode!

I see you are entered in the diamond and double sculls for Henley. Best of luck!
Thank you!
@@CameronBuchan So you did enter double sculls! With the Scottish guy?
That ultrawide from 2:36 really freaked me out lol. Looks so sick though
lmao it reminds me of when you get the speed boost effect on minecraft
Little speed boost!
Good effort. Time to get down to caversham.
Being so tall does the length of your stroke become less efficient? I notice the angle of the blades as you go in is at quite an acute angle.
Being taller means I should be able to row longer and at some point yes, there is a “too long” where more pressure goes perpendicular to the boat than parallel to it. I think that’s what you’re asking?
How do you fit in the boat
You can pretty much see in the video!
dang...straight into full slide race start...is that how you usually play it or for a 1000m sprint is half half three-quarter three-quarter full too slow ? EDIT: Just watched the full video and I see you ( kind of ) explain after the piece. and nice balance drills.
Yeah wasn’t supposed to be the first 1000m so it wasn’t “off the start” as such.
I did mess up the first couple of strokes as I was trying to be careful not to start the timer before I started moving. Unfortunately didn’t succeed! 😅
Loving these vlogs! so awesome to see you really step on in the single these past few years Cam.
Been an adventure for sure!
I remember rowing Marlow. regatta from 1968. Be interesting to watch you there!
Great work! To quote Ralph Waldo Emerson..." Noe but he knows what that is which he can do, nor does he know until he has tried."
Wow, I haven't seen your channel in a while and your catch is 1000 times better! Nice work!
Let’s gooooo! That’s a lot better! 😂
Nice piece of work Cam. All the best at Marlow 💪💪
Thanks Tom! Here we go!
you'll have a massive chance mate the way your sculling at hrr - great leg drive and the way you carry the weight of the stroke. massively improving
Lots of big names!
Just have to go and do as best I can 💪
Thanks for posting your training and race prep rows. Watching them lifts my motivation and focus. I have a new challenge for myself: sit at the catch with oars off the water and feather/square. It's not as easy as you make it look!
I watched some of the 60 minute loch row again and saw that the progression past the shore(s) was smooth and invariant although the boat itself would of course accelerate and slow slightly. If I am right in thinking that the camera is on your head, this means that your head was moving toward your "finish line" at an unchanging speed, without lurching to the bow or stern. That has to be good, right? No wasted energy.
Enjoy Marlow and Henley!
Definitely film the outing first, then run through the data which is great to see post piece - the downside is I could get there on the ergo but no chance on the water😆
Main issue with being an auld git is I’m nowhere near your catch angle if I try to create a bit of space between the handles at the finish - obviously got into rowing a bit late😎
Absolute dog
Your arms are gonna hurt tomorrow 😂😂😂😂😂
Why’s that?
Someone has never rowed !! His legs might hurt a bit though. Arms are just connection rods between the blades and the legs
