"A Thousand Miles" is one of those songs that I feel like people would still be listening to in thousands of years.
Anarch a 100 miles is better
Anarch omigosh you just combined “A Thousand Miles” and “A thousand years” in one sentence. My dream😍
I'm with you guy!!
Brings me back to simpler times ...😚
I m still crazy for this song audio n video I heard 15 years back
Vanessa Carlton is no teeny-bopper one-hit wonder. She's an incredibly talented artist who makes serious, beautiful music. You guys need to check out her other stuff. She is one of the most underrated artists I can think of.
Glad someone else gets it! I get sad when this video shows up when I search her and literally only came to leave a comment about how nobody pays attention to what she's up to. Liberman and Love is an Art are two incredible albums.
@@robertoXCX Blue Pool and Only Way to Love are some of my favorite songs!
Cannot agree more! Just beacuse she is not in the commercial industry doesn't mean her music is not stil alive. I've been following her since the beggining and wow the beautiful songs she has been written are amazing....
@@robertoXCX Liberman is beautiful
I wasn't a fan of her back in the day maybe because I'm not a fan of pop music.but she's very talented and a great piano player and a beautiful person inside and out💕
I miss Vanessa Carlton and Michelle Branch so much.
Me too
They're not gone their music is still great check out her music she's known for a thousand miles but that isn't even close to her best songs. Check out Rabbits on the run amazing record from her or her live record too she's never made a bad album.
Me too
Anna Fitzpatrick I saw both on their most recent tours a few years ago. Greatly enjoyed both! :)
Oh, boy. It felt like 2002 for a moment.
She didn’t go anywhere, you just had to follow her. I’ve been following her since I was 6 years old and I’m 23 now.
So sweet
Same except I was 10 and now I’m 27
I forgot about her for a minute, searched her up a few years ago and saw the vid for Carousel and I was immediately interested. I'm also 23 so I remembered her from childhood, came back to an even more developed musician.
_Stalker vibes intensify_
THAT'S a true fan right there
I was so in love with her back in 2002. little 15 year old me. aw why does time even have to pass by. I miss the times.
A Thousand Miles song was really great. Had no idea that it was released in 2002. Man, I feel f**king old.
i had no idea it could have been released 2002. because that song appeared in germany some 6 years later. i know that because i used to listen to that song at that time
@ That song was a modern classic.
Yea I know that song still 🔥 🔥🔥
Yay I was born in 2002 and its my favorite song!
It literally came out before I was born 🤡
She's awesome, she came out on top. She still can sell albums and has her name in lights on broadway. She doesn't need #1 hits anymore. Deserved.
Makes me want to watch White Chicks now 😂
coincidentally, i rewatched that last 3 days ago, came for the song scene 😂
Vanessa should have married me. John Paul McCauly is a dumb looking guy.
There's a sequel coming up, i wonder what song will be like the 'theme song'
I just watched it :)
White chicks 2 coming soon!!!
Vanessa is winning. She still collects royalties from a hit that's nearly 20 years old that pay for all things music in her life. She can tour when she wants, put out albums when she wants and then go back home to her husband & daughter and live a normal life. Smart. Her last three albums have been impeccable ('Liberman' is her 'Hounds of Love'). For me, I find her exciting & fascinating because each album is different and stronger in different ways ("Miner's Canary" off her latest record is sublime)
Imagine being the guy A Thousand Miles was written for
or Gal ....aparently
Lucas Sherwood yuck
LusciousLady she decided to get a husband anyway 😆
@@Halliday7895 she did say in an interview that it was about a guy. jsut refused to say who it was
@@blowurn0se hah imagine being homosexual couldn't be me
I love how "real" musicians dont give a shit about popularity and just refuse to be overly sexualized, love her and artists like Michelle Branch and Colbie Caillat!
I’ve been a huge huge family of Vanessa and Michelle for YEARS. They’re amazing, just not extremely popular in the media and both had one or two big songs that, after that song, people assumed disappeared even if they really didn’t
She is so talented and honestly people don't give her enough credit/
Yeah. But yet they give credit to trashy artists such as; Cardi B, Megan The Stallion, and Doja Cat.
@@sarahannx033 unfortunately promiscuity sells more than natural raw hardworking talent.
@@sarahannx033 Doja Cat is talented though
She has been a part of my teenage nostalgia ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was 18 when I got her first album on 2002. Be not nobody.
Cat Charlie same!
Damn yall old
Sameee and she was one of my Girl crushes back then
vanessa mentioned in an interview that 1000 miles was written for a crush who was in her class. when the interviewer asked her who it was, she said she cant say the name as he is a famous celebrity now
Now give us Michelle Branch! I follow her on Facebook and I KNOW she has new music!
Michelle only has one new album. Michelle has curly ugly hair and has too many tattoos. I like the old Michelle. Before she got married. Hotel Paper.
They look alike
Her first album was so good, pretty much every track was great. Such a shame it didn't get the recognition for the song writing
Omg what a flashback. Im glad she is still able to perform now though
I love her. Had both of her first cds and my favorite song is White Houses. I actually talked to her on aim messanger before she even put out the Thousand Miles song.
omg rly???!!!
I saw her in 2002 at the Savannah Theatre in Georgia, I love it live. She sounded better in person and It was amazing.
She should make a cameo on White Chicks 2, that would be awesome.
Vanessa should be Vanessa on the new little mermaid remake.
Johnny Fountains no we good
There's a sequel coming?
@@sweetsalvation7143 No because it would never work today lol
@@choloyolo8522 I thought so. Nowadays people are easily offended
Thank God Vanessa's Doing Okay! I Can't Wait For Her Next Album!
I wish her all the best. Deserves to be a happy woman
Been a fan of Vanessa’s for year, she’s still making wonderful music!
A Thousand Miles is almost 20 years old. I feel so old! 😭 Still a bop though. 😎
That's utterly insane 😳 🤯
I remember when it came out my Niece's singing it sleeping over with my Daughter all 9 of them ! I think how did I do It ! Fun times !
But this Angel was Amazing so Beautiful, didn't know that she was married... she just up and had gone missing one day but I'm glad she's doing great, I loved that piano run it was great as well !
I haven't heard that song in a long time,...
But I will say again I'm finding it so utterly insane 5hat its been that long ago!!!
I looked up and 30 years have gone by I served in Military from Iraq to Afghanistan 2003, I can't believe its been that long it been since the towers Fell there are Kids then that are grown now!
Well I'm going go Curl up in a corner wonder where Hell it all went to ! 🤔💬🤔💬🙉🤦♂️
Yesterday!
I love how Vanessa both came out as bi-sexual, and married a man after and has a family now. This course of events is more common than people know, and doesn't change just because "traditional" is what her family looks like now. Thank you Vanessa!
Bet her husband happy best of both worlds
@@brandengoss2289 what?
What does being bisexual then marrying a man have anything to do with anything? Did you expect her to just date women or something? Do you know what being bisexual means? 😂
Simp
@@brandengoss2289 head head and mo head🤣
Teenagers that time will never forget her, she so talented
Be not Nobody was the first album I bought. I was still in High School back then and can only buy cassette tape. I love her to death!
'Love is an Art' just came out and it might be her best album. So, she's doing fine.
Look it up.
I genuinely love most of her music. She's seriously talented. Shame she was funnelled down to one song in everybody's minds.
She went “A Thousand Miles” and even more.
I think she just decided to stay away from media toxicness, keep the music to herself and loved ones.
PSA for anyone who thinks she fell off. She's still making music, not in the spotlight because she makes what SHE wants, and it's incredible.
"White Houses" is my favorite track from Vanessa! It's a beautiful song, in my opinion. It's one that I actually had to record from my VCR on MTV because I liked the video so much! And yes, it was censored, unfortunately...but these were the years before RUclips (2004), so I had no choice! "Pretty Baby" is my second favorite mainstream track! Her "Harmonium" album was a great one...too bad it wasn't played more in the mainstream.
Yes! I was obsessed with White Houses!
Lmao I was the taxi driver that ran the piano over. Trust me it was harder for me than it was for you.
Really man?? Or it's troll?? Be honest
No way!
I can imagine man !!! I would feel the same way
i wouldn't have done it.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you msmojo. This is posted 1 year Go and curiosity to me to you
We need a video about Stacie Orrico
She had so many other great songs like Nolita Fairytale, Hands on Me and my favorite which would be White Houses
A thousand miles was just the song that got her hard core fans hooked! Have you seen her in concert? It is far different from the videos or albums. Instead of a pop/commercial feel, you really get a sense of how great she is with her playing piano and Sky on the violin. I saw her in a small theater in Hollywood and it was an amazing concert.
@@CGT80 i agree, yes and no, I have not had the honor of seeing her live but I always wanted to. Both the piano and violin are 2 of my favorite instruments and she plays both of them phenomenally. You're a lucky ducky and I'm jealous xDD
Vanessa needs to come to Hidalgo Texas. I live in Alamo. @@CGT80
White Houses and C'est La Vie are my favorites ...
I remember singing along to a lot of Vanessa's music. I still do, I would sing her songs to get ready for choir. Unsung is still my fave song to sing with!
This song never gets old💖
I really enjoyed listening to Vanessa Carlton's music when I was much younger. She was truly an inspiration for singing and playing the piano at the same time. I hope that her popularity continues for generations to come. "A Thousand Miles" was used for the Disney Channel Original Movie, You Wish starring A.J. Trauth and Spencer Breslin.
The title says, "Whatever Happened to Vanessa Carlton?"
Me: SHE'S OKAY! SHE'S HAPPY WITH HER HUSBAND AND DAUGHTER! JUST FOLLOW HER MUSIC!
She was/is the inspiration for me starting music. She is one of 00s best songwriter.
When the intro started, I closed my eyes and let the nostalgia have its way.
Lieberman is one of my favorite albums. You should buy it buy it.
I’m glad to see that she’s still working.
Aka she's more focused on creating art that she finds meaningful rather than creating whatever will get her on a top 100 chart. So she's dropped out of popularity but for people who follow her music, not the charts, she's never went away.
The same applies to Anna Nalick.
She did her thing on Nolita Fairytale. That is my all time favorite right there.
She chose to do what she loved to and though that caused her be understood that she was underrated, she still was delighted with the way she has paced.
Watched her recent documentary on vice. And dammm can't believe she has grown old.. Missed those days.. ♥️
I’ve watch the documentary of “Thousand Miles” by Vice. And Vanessa mentioned that this song was written about her Secret Crush.
this young woman is absolutely gorgeous
She an absolutely Incredibly Beautiful Young Lady, what I can't believe is this song is that old ! It's just mind blowing !! 🤯 😳
I was listening to thousand miles when I got the notification about this
I got Vanessa on my search engine on youtube.
I think most people thought of her as a one hit happy pop wonder with the overblown success of 1000 Miles and didn't bother to actually give her a shot.
Her b-sides and filler tracks have always been darker and in my opinion, far better than 1000 Miles.
Rinse, Sway, unsung, etc. All amazing.
My favourite artist. Her songs made me learn to play the piano!
Rabbit on the run is the best. Still listening it now
when i saw the thumbnail I thought she went on dr. phil
Im from malaysia.. Bought her album by curious and not even a clue about her.. And her song made my english better in my school by that time.. I even won debate competition in english.. As im grown up.. My english help me alot in my life.. Think about how it begin.. Im kept on smile.. It was bcause of her songs.. I hope shell keep inspired the world..
Yes
Harmonium was my favorite album from her, bit sad how it set back(kinda?) her career a bit, although I do love all her work.
She had 3 hits: A Thousand Miles, Ordinary Day, and Pretty Baby
I was totally thinking about her right before this video came out!
if i didnt hear both taylor swift and vanessa carlton when they both first started, I would believe its taylor swift singing. whoa, im gonna go listen to vanessa now
Vanessa Carlton came before Taylor Swift and Vanessa is far better.
I still listen to thousand miles👊💯
i have been listening to "a thousand miles" for ages. It's on my playlist since 1st yr high school and I am 30 now... is it just me?
When 1000 miles released I was 10 years old
Im from Nepal and im literally fall in love with this song'''..... Missing you Vanisha
Vanessa Carlton is my favorite Diva. Vanessa should play Vanessa on the little mermaid.
I'm happy to where you are now. Your "lost self" in the past is a part of my childhood. Thank you. I know its not easy but your songs made me cope up with life. I still play your song, A Thousand Miles over and over again 😊
I prefer Legally Blonde
I once made the mistake of following he socials - she'd not the most tolerant or diplomatic of people when it comes to politics. Oh well! Her music is where she really shines, and that's what I care about anyway! Please go support her new (very indie, folk influence pop) music
really Like the way today your intro opens with this music❤️❤️❤️❤️👍
Her first 4 albums never get old for me ❤️
She has 8
Can't get enough of the piano 🎹 on Thousand miles
Great Job. New Sub!
Bring those music artist bio back some more I love you mojo

Loved this girl immediately. I played 1000 miles and then sang bright yellow taxi by Joni Mitchell---my no 1. Va message has written great songd😊
Be Not Nobody was my ultimate favorite album as a teenager
I just thought about her today and next thing you know the video is up lol

I've been laughing for 10 minutes straight 😂
the only surprised me is that she went down the addiction rabbit hole
She's an incredible artist!
Vanessa Carlton and Michelle Branch. Now that was TALENT.
I really love her so much ever since I was 8.

Your rendition of Joni Mitchell s song... beautiful

Well .I got to say something . I always like Vanessa .I think she is one of the best singers .because she is so original i wish she can put hands on work and bring more of that talent to now days .it will be really amazing the world need this kind of music. Love Vanessa you are the best .
I just watched a video on the story behind "A Thousand Miles", that Stevie Nicks posted on her Facebook page. I didn't know Jimmy Iovine (Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty, U2) signed her to a record deal with A&M Records!
She's my all-time favourite artiste.

What happened? She kept making amazing music independently.
Three girls should tour together. Vanessa Carlton should open, Michelle Branch comes in next (only bc she has more hits), and Avril Lavigne last! Thoughts?!
THE HOLY TRINITY OF 2002, THEY SHOULLLDDDDDD!!!!!!

People would still be listening to this song in a thousand years
Vanessa has so many amazing songs (my personal faves include San Francisco, Who’s to Say, I Don’t Want To Be A Bride)
It definitely is a case of the fans knowing what she has put out, but the general public thinking she has disappeared. Happens to artists all the time (and in my opinion it happens disproportionately to female artists)
