I’ve given up my dream of para motoring. With my job, no time for training even though I’m an hour away from Lake Whales. Married with 3 kids and your average suburban life. Not enough money to get started with my own, but at least I get to watch these awesome videos and keep dreaming. I’ve been up once at lake whales on a trike. That was the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced. Maybe someday I can do it all on my own.
Don't give up on your dreams! :)
I think this was an excellent and objective first impression review and I'm glad you didn't pull punches to try to "smooth out" the controversy from the other video. This motor frame appears to be designed for large/tall men wherein it might be great -- given the addition of anti-torque lamels to deal with the in-flight torque issue. Of course the starter cord location needs improvement and the throttle cable looks way long. Love the dual hoop, though, excellent safety feature. Just my two cents.
am glad that a video on this was reuploaded.... i love watching your videos tucker.... am scared of highs so flying is well... but watching is what i do.. have a wonderful day tucker.
Great video. Glad you got to try it out. Have a fun trip out west!!!
So it's heavy, nut crushing awkwardness that you have to groundstart with severe torque effects and huge throttle with a cruise control that doesn't really work...but it has a quick release harness and heavy duty cage that can take impacts...
So this paramotor is for Wile E Coyote?
Delivered to him directly from the ACME company!
Looked like he didnt read the manual, seemed like a throttle lock he just didnt get or maybe attach properly.
Thanks for sharing and giving a good honest review! Hopefully that’s the end of the drama. 😁 Have you ever flown a newer mini plane frame with a split leg harness? If not you should do a review on one and let us no what you think. I have one with the non-fiberglass pole frame and like it a lot. No motor torque and it’s pretty light only 56lbs dry with the 185! Motor 😁
Really appreciated that you both did a review. I was very enlightening. I also appreciated that you still tried to be honest.
Well done Tucker. One of your honest first impressions. I don’t think we will see a full review. Hopefully this puts all this drama to rest. Keep the stash “Sir”.
For me, the ground handling characteristics are almost as important as the in-flight characteristics. If it's a pain to get it on your back or walk and run, it's going to be a struggle. Lightweight is also a big must for me too.
Yeah. That skytap is heavy. On my scale, it's about 60 pounds without a reserve or fuel. In fairness, I believe the harness still wasn't properly set up, so ground handling should be much better.
@@austinsmith9413 They were correct on judsons video, It's a piece of shit!
@@evm3908 I believe that the harness was oversized in both Judson's and Tucker's video. On the other hand, I have seen the skytap in person and wasn't impressed with what I saw.
Agreed 100%. This is a straight up safety concern. After all, launch and landing are the risky moments.
Yep, if it's difficult to handle, it's going to be less safe. Which is weirdly countering the whole idea.
Nice Review, and mad respect for you being open to taking a second look at something.
I think that was a very fair and honest assessment. Weight shift is awesome but it’s not everything! And that torque twist the way you did a 360 that quickly to ask throttle! I thought that was insane! I’m very surprised nobody’s been hurt by it yet. But to be fair I really don’t think that is a frame that was designed for5 foot something 150 pound people! I really do think that this would be better suited for a bigger pilot at least 6 foot tall at least 200 pounds I do think that would dampen some of that torque twist, and definitely make the ground and easier to deal with..
I have both a Scout and a Angel, I am new to the sport but for me the Angel is more comfortable in the air than the Scout and the ground handling is not that bad, could be my size, I am 6-3 and 190 and my Angel has a XL Dudek power seat which in itself is very very comfortable. I first chose the Angel for safety reasons but found I really like it in the air which for me makes it worth it. I'm not skilled in Acro at all but I enjoy cruising with my brakes brakes parked and living off of weight shift and the Angel is more responsive than the Scout. I think due to my size the ground handling doesn't bother me much but yes the Scout on the ground is simply like wearing a back pack and the Angel you can feel its there. Just my opinion but honestly I am putting more hours on my Angel.
Glad you like it bro. That’s what’s most important.
Thanks for making this first impressions video.
I would love to see you work with them to make this a solid unit. Loved the video, and I definitely see the potential in the product. This could be a solid beginner rig with a few changes. So glad you did this video.
Tucker !!! You got that Stash dialed in tight brother. The full Stash is looking good avoid the pencil. Keep up the great work man!!
Actually pretty cool that you went back and gave it a fair shake.
you went the whole video without calling it the "round top" good job!
He did mention a "crumple zone." Where have I heard that before? 😂
Sitting here, poking my phone, saying do something!
Then boom, Tucker comes through for me with a long awaited video.
Your the man! You got me into the sport thaks
Good form coming back to this. I saw the sky tap response video and was hoping you’d give it another go. Thanks
Interesting, an you made my balls hurt with the harness. LOL
Great vid ! Honest opinions are good.
This beast is a dinosaur that lasts you + 10 years, frame consists of multiple parts, easy and affordable to fix if you'd damage it.
Once used to it, you can actually run easier than you think.
Love doing tandems on them.
1 downside: if shoulder straps are not set correctly, getting into the collapsing sit board can become very challenging.
Looks like a good unit for adapting to a simple trike.
Thanks for sharing.. 🙏🙏🙏
That throttle looks like it came off a Stihl string trimmer
And it works like a charm… don’t knock it until you try it.
another good vidio fly, thanks.
Dude epic video man!! I hope to fly high with you some day!!
It’s probably also the oldest design. The flattop that it’s a clone of has hardly changed since the mid 90s
walkerjet started this design , i had one , terible machine
Love your vids broo
The images are amazing!
Yeah, that kit looked like a handful. If you flew it regularly it would probably be no big deal though. There are different craft for different people. I'm sure the pilot that owns it loves it. I'm glad it worked out that you could fly it and give us your first impressions. Thanks to everyone for making it happen.
Dude!! the snake river canyon!! you are in my neck of the woods. I live 2 hours to the west of there now, but i grew up in a little town just an hour north of that canyon! as you already know, the base jumping off the bridge is legit too!! welcome to this part of the country! love all your videos!
That throttle lever looks like it comes off a backpack leaf blower.
Great video, I'm sure you'll still catch hell, but I'm sure your opinion is pretty well spot on.
Looks like a behemoth. Probably best for trikes I’d think.
agree
Exactly what I was thinking about building
Another killer video 👌
It looks like it would be really good in a trike format due to being able to put a larger propeller on it and having such a strong cage. Lots of room for a larger fuel capacity too.
For foot launch, I want as small and light as possible.
I want the Ironman suit.
If I had 10 million dollars to play with, yes, I could build one, and then I would be happy-er?🤔
Super fun video.
I’ve flown the walkerjet that this motor was based on…. The harness really needs to be redesigned as it allows the motor to hang way too low on your back, which as you said makes it feel heavy, plus on nil wind launches when you really have to run fast, it’s very awkward and can catch your heels…. Well it did on me as I’m a short guy..!
This must have been a hard one, I think we get the message, well done for the review
I wouldn't want to fly it either after watching you, to borrow a skateboarding term, getting "Sacked" by that harness. Damn that looked painful
Well said tucker
You know when you have to do something knowing deep down you still think the same but on the out side you put a brave face on 🤣🤣🤣🤣
For real hahahaha this things still wrong even when set up right
@@spencersmith5271 mate that is a massive peace of sh#t 🤣🤣🤣
@Urazz 100%. I have a flattop and this was closer than the last vid on it, but not right. More shoulders, less nuts. I don't have these issues, except for the pull start. That one bothers me.
Nice first impression video. I think it was a fair assessment of what you liked and disliked but also of the pros and cons. Well done.
Taking one for the team!!! Full Marks!!
Great review as I’m just getting into the sport and looking to figure out what I want to fly. I’ve looked but haven’t seen you do video on the Gravity paramotors made here in the USA. Have you done a review on them? I’ve seen a few others but would like to see what you think of them. Keep up the great work posting great vids.
Yeah I want one of those, I have heard they are very hard to get because they can’t meet the demand. Very nice unit!
That cable leading from the hand-throttle to the engine looks WAY too long. Is that normal?
Very normal for that frame yes. It goes down then back up.
Not sure if you've tried this already but with hanggliding we have an aero tow trolly that we sit the glider on and are towed up by a plane. This could be a video idea but even though you can simply foot launch, have you thought about attempting a trolley launch with a paramotor? Not sure if this is an odd idea but would be interesting to see haha :P
Since you're doing paramotor reviews nowadays, I'm curious for your opinion on the Skymax Star. I'm flying it and am very happy with it.
Oh wow Tucker done grown up, cool. A stash ? Really, lol. Been following you off an on since you started. Been awhile probably a year are better now. Glad to see you popped up, use to love watching your vids. Toe dipping in the ponds back and forth to McDonald's or wherever, lol. Gonna have to go back and catch up. Great video
Why didn't i think of this contraption!! Rediscovering new contraption in case of zombie apocalypse. Thank you, Tucker Gott.
Thank you for the good review. Much respect now. I do think size matters. The whole thing just looks big on you.
That throttle is straight off an Echo weed eater lol.
The 90's called and they want their paramotor back
I'm always late- but this thing is reminiscent of a blending of a flattop & Fresh Breeze(without the whisper quietness). I digress...
Amazing flying device! I pray the lord will guide you and keep you safe
nice handlebars dude!
That mustache is looking fabulous.
‘Stach & hair cut, stand aside Selick, here comes TG! I’m serious, you have the Executive look.
Fun video .Nice.
I love that mustache!
Would be cool to see a video series like this where you review/rate different paramotors
Dont forget reviewing brands of oil. I would like to see one pertaining to that: I cant see why one is better than another considering that they come from the same oil and may be refined at exactly the same place then simply distributed to different packing plants which put on their respective labels and maybe add a little food color to it.
It's weird seeing you guys fly at a spot I am familiar with. Sorry I missed you guys. Blue Skies :)
Tell us, where is this.... Area 51, located?
I have been fascinated by motorcycles, small powerful engines and flying .I feel para motor is everything I love about. But sadly I don't have any access for it here in Nepal . And would love to go anywhere in world to flying para motor. And just keep on flying for ever.
Been awhile since I've watched and couldn't comprehend the facial difference . Until noticing the catapillar . Lol. Looks good
Best mustache on RUclips
On a test track there are always going to be people who think you judged a car unfairly, with sports equipment same thing, with tools the same thing, computers and electronics, same thing. You have to go with what's best for you. Nothing wrong about giving an honest opinion. Sugar coating things just to sound politically correct doesn't do anyone any favors. I thought this was a very honest review. You pointed out some the pluses and minuses, explained why, 'nuf said. Criticisms also serve a positive purpose, to inspire manufactures to make improvements on the next generation of the product. It should also be noted that criticisms of a particular product should not be misinterpreted as a criticism of the designer behind it. I think this whole controversy can finally be put to rest and move on.
I was waiting for you to have the owner or helper try your unit on and walk around to compare only to quickly put his back on and feel some improvement maybe in order.
Always gonna be haters, it's part of what you're doing for a good living!! Just don't let the jealous people bother you 👍💪👊
Still rocking the stache!
I am unsure if I would ever feel comfortable in this machine. Tucker did not look comfortable on the ground getting into it.
Great motor for a trike!!!
great motor frame sucks!
That’s awfully nice of you man.
Tucker... Glad you weren't hurt. Not something I would fly. But looking for information on that new tandem you flu. Big Al Draper Utah
Fair. 👍🏼
I would love to try it...how do I get started???
I areciate that you didn't over glorify it just to make sure no one would be mad after the backlash from the Paramotor community.
Looks like Donegal Springs Airpark
Thats a very nice paramotor
question where did you get your lessons
How tall are you?
Just wondering if this motor would be better suited for someone, let's say 6'-2"+ and well over 225lbs
Ive yet to paramotor but decided the skytap angel would be the best safest option when i do. I am 6'2" 200lb and good muscle strength but starting it just looks super awkward. Can anyone out there who has the angel restart it in the air if needed, and while wearing it on ground?
Awsome!
What's the next safest paramotor after the skytap, that would be easier on the ground and w/ less torque spin issue?
Honestly, I would argue that the flattop copied by skytap is safer. Additionally flattop has multipe different options to counter torque if needed.
"OH, my balls" is really all I needed to hear...
This seriously made me laugh out loud! 🤣
would it be really good for a trike?
Loved to hear more opinions of more frames! Do Gravity next! Or a Pluma! Come on! You can’t only review the sky tap!
I would be interested to see that! I fly a Gravity Defy and I absolutely love it! It’s super tough! 👍
Yes! More frame reviews
Yes! Fly a Gravity!!
@@joshmedina5471 how long did it take you to get it? I heard they are very hard to get right now
@@joshmedina5471 Google shows Glidersports as "Permanently Closed" and the Gravity website has a lot of the parts on backorder. I love the look of it but with nonexistant customer service, that's a big no-go from me. Which is too bad because I love how the Defiant has a 5gal tank.
Even without the rock paper scissor win I don't think your amateur buddy deserves to fly that beast
Evel Knievel style at Snake River!
“If it dies, I can’t restart it.” Not good.
Would this rig be better suited for a trik?
More like the junkyard!
Atari called and they want their VCS throttle back. One for the old timers there, as soon as I saw that throttle I was nostalgic :)
Tucker is strong believer in fairness. The proof is this video. I have a feeling he felt bad about joking around the first time he commented on the para motor ......
I was thinking the manufacturer threatened to sue the **** out of him. 🤷
You weren't at Alexandria Field by chance were you? :)
Seems to me if Tucker can't start it, that's a problem.....
garbage,
It appears to me that it’s too big for your build. I’m thinking a 6ft 250 guy it would look right. Just my uneducated and newbie opinion. What you think Tucker?
I am curious if it would hold up to a heavier person better.
You should tell the guy to put those plastic thingies in his net to compensate for the torque
Did he ever say who makes it or what it's called?
This has some features that could be really good if they were done right like the quick release harness. The one on this just didn't fit right, but that's not because of that feature. The tightly strung netting on this and the Flattop always seemed like a good idea. My understanding is the holes aren't big enough for your hand to go through. Being self supporting on the ground and being able to strap in while sitting in it is kind of cool, but not if that's the reason for the way it sits when you stand up. I'm really surprised you mentioned the so-called 'crumple zone'. You almost sounded embarrassed to say the words.
Hi Tucker,
In my opinion...I feel by watching how it was on the ground, and the take off that it could be a dangerous paramotor. If this were not being flown by a very experienced flyer, it would probably not end well. It looks like a very okwerd piece of equipment. It is very sturdy but I can see many face plants in the future just by someone being tripped by the hoop. It seems to hang very low, and loosely. It looks like a piece off a trike with a crash cage. The throttle is way too big to hold and try to steer, pull start it. The pull start should really be on the opposite side if you use that huge throttle with a whip/cable. Maybe they should have an electric start option. It is just my observations but it's something I would not ever want to purchase or fly. Hopefully the manufacturer's will take it back and make the improvements it needs.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
Take care,
Be safe.
