I'm truly grateful to have been a part of your paramotor life from the beginning. I'll never forget pushing you into the sky at Oshkosh a couple of weeks before training. Seeing your growth as a human over the last (nearly) decade, I've been honored to be your friend, mentor, student, and Mom. Much love brother. Let's keep growing to the next level...
And let's value those friends who've shown us how to live so well. Losing friends is truly the worst, no matter what they were doing. But losing them doing what we love sucks more most days.

I have been flying PPG for 21 years, 1576 flights, 976 hours. I've gone through 5 different motors, 7 different wings, and still love each and every flight, it never gets old but flying in the same area for 21 years can get a bit boring so I enjoy travelling and flying new places. I'm now 68 years old and still foot launch. Living the dream!

Caught your "Flying to McDonald's" video years back and was hooked! Binged your channel like crazy until catching up on your past couple years before McDonald's, and am always elated getting that notification of new Tucker content. I just loved watching your wide range of activities from motor bike, base jumping, fly in/air shows, the Icarus race as well as amazing life changing giveaways, and most importantly, knowledge about your sport. Always so many different adventures. You seem like such a cool down to earth dude. Thanks Tucker for great content, adventures, and straight quality. " Fly safe, have fun, ☮️"

That's hilarious bro I just finished posting a long rant bout Tucker's videos that I strangely 1 day found in my suggested video list which was very confusing as I've always been terrified of heights & just NVR watched flying or any height related videos so I can't understand how RUclips algorithm decided to suggest it but I am so thankful that it did cuz I've also binged his videos ever since & now want to join his sport regardless of my previous fear of heights thanks to his videos! But what is so funny(& I didn't mention it in my previous comment as, at the time, it didn't necessarily seem important) is, amazingly enough I remember like it was yesterday what video I 1st was suggested & watched of his, but it was ALSO the video of him flying into a McDonald's & grabbing a burger zooming back & forth in between those hay bails & just landing in the parking lot going in, ordering & then taking right back off from the parking lot & having a bite to eat while experiencing such a beautiful exciting level of freedom & adrenaline that this sport appeared to offer him... I was instantly hooked & haven't stopped dreaming bout the day I can afford to learn & join this amazing exciting community of paramotoring it's like an addiction to me now lol... That's just amazing with the massive # of videos he has in his catalog that we both found his McDonald's video & caused us both to instantly be hooked... Too funny... You plan on trying to get into the sport some day as well or are you already involved in it? If so maybe someday I'll see you up there cuz I'm determined to get it done before I die lol!

Well put Tucker, we all have to accept that doing the things that we love do in life carries an inherent risk to some degree.
from cycling down a road to flying to a holiday destination. we just have to keep some perspective, and keep the odds on our side.
Thank for the videos looking forward to the next 9 years.

At the very moment in time you said, "take pleasure in every moment" you were the first person to touch that part of space. Think about that for a moment. We all, as paramotor pilots, touch a part of space that has never been touched before! To me that is something very special, just as special as the men that set foot on the moon!!! Congrats on this milestone bro, many more to come!

I think with any sport that requires you to put your life at risk should be taken as serious as possible, without taking the fun out of it. The more I watch your videos, the more I feel that it is a good sport, but definitely one that has risks. But so does BASE jumping, mountain climbing, skiing…you get the idea. What I love about paramotoring is the act of flying, and the magnificent views! I mean how could anyone not want to see views like that? When you cut the motor and was just floating, that was the best. No noise but the wind.
I hope you continue to take us on your journey as you keep flying the skies! ❤️❤️

GREAT discussion, brother! It's been 5 years since I first started watching you! Can't believe that went by so fast! I'm sure I speak for countless THOUSANDS of people when I say I appreciate you bringing us into this sport! I didn't even know what a paramotor was when I first clicked your video all those years back - you had 39k subs, or somewhere around that. For me it was one of the best days of my life, since I had FINALLY found a form of aviation that I could afford! Then watching you fly low over those fields, swooping over tree lines, and doing the hay bale slalom clinched it for me - I was HOOKED!!
I had started watching RUclips aviation vids starting with private jets - that roped me right in! I knew I had to fly come hell or high water. I thought this was something I could afford, lolol. Was a big reality check when I discovered you can't buy those even USED for even close to $60,000. 🤣😂🤣 I worked my way down through just about every form of aviation over a month or so, until I found you here. Changed my life!! Took me 4 years from that time until I finally got to experience this LIVE, for myself, but in that time I just kept reading and learning. I've discovered you make it look MUCH easier than it is, but with patience and time, I was able to gain the confidence and skill to fly from a trike without issue. This year has been my year! Been flying more than ever, and gaining confidence with every flight.
On behalf of the THOUSANDS of us out here whose lives you've changed, THANK YOU, TUCKER!! Here's to another 9 x 9 years of flying (Even you will be pretty old by then! 😁)! 🙌👍👍🍻

This was a good video @ 9:50 "you had the best seat in the house" and your landing to that quiet field it's like the end of a religious experience. You have to be there to understand. Good vid. I'm a new pilot, just this summer, 40 some.flights. atom 80, ozone beginner wing.
I come from a background of high risk, was a west coast tree topper for a decade and a faller(very high risk work), anyways, even with a high risk tolerance background, paramotor can be sketchy, especially with some wind. I got into this sport to fly up into the mountains, but not sure if I will ever risk that now, it's just too windy where I want to go(wanted to fly up instead of hike up to my areas) slow progress is key as you said, even then, this is a sport that can kill you, there is no doubt about that. This is also basically a "no wind" sport..or a steady beach wind sport. I didn't know this when I got into it, just thought I could travel cross country wherever lol. Thanks for all your videos tucker, and for thoes wanting to get I to this sport, get good training and prepare to be scared sometimes, it ain't all suits and giggles

  • @hogey74
    @hogey74 2 года назад

Slow progression. Yes! Humility and restraint mixed with enthusiasm can lead to the perfect base of building understanding and mind and body adaptation. I started out driving with a role model of control and precision, plus knowing there was a lot to learn. Then I was restrained every moment. I remember the first time I drove above and beyond the needs of the moment. And I only do it, to this day, on purpose. Because of that and ongoing work, my body-level understanding of driving is the highest of anything I do. Only two people have ever been with me for spirited driving and they've been amazed yet I was keeping an extra margin because of the passenger effect. People just think I am a real smooth driver they like being with. I stopped pilot training because I had too much ego/emotion. I knew I wasn't in the right head space, compared to driving. Now, 10 years later I am ready to recommence, starting fresh.

I don't do aerobatics and I don't fly low, I've never foot dragged yet, still hoping to get over some clouds one day.

Good points, I used to fly with my dad in ultralights. Safety is one of the biggest things. I had a moment that I thought my dad died. I'm 15 and we get a ultralight trike started. As it started I gave it gas on the passenger pedal. I didn't know this but the cable had frayed and got stuck wide open. The trike took off on the ground dragging my dad with it. Then is suddenly flipped over. I stood there just waiting for a few seconds in shock. Finally my dad killed the motor and got up. He had managed to flip it himself to keep it from taking off. This was a big eye opener for Safety and aircraft.

Dude, I'm very proud of you for this video. We butted heads a while ago about the safety aspect of this sport, and it seems the tragic loss of Jeff has inspired you to reflect upon the safety of the sport and made you realize the inherent dangers. It's a calculated risk, and it's pretty safe in general, so long as you always keep safety as the #1 priority. You are an ambassador, and you owe it to the community to keep safety at the forefront, and not just an afterthought. Thanks for this video, you're growing in ways I didn't think you would a while ago. Have a great day and be safe!

Tucker does not even know who you are, don't talk down to him like you know him. You know what he chooses to post but you don't even come close to knowing Tucker as a person. Your "See I told you so" attitude coupled with leveraging his dead friend to drive your argument is disgusting and reeks of your ego. Just because you say some nice things in a comment doesn't give you the right to be condescending with the remainder. Please learn from this and refrain from using a tragedy like someone loosing a friend t prove your own point or say I told you so even if you were right and you had good intentions which i'm sure you did. Best wishes.

I've recently started taking lessons, I found a good instructor (who actually supplies the equipment when you're learning).
I'm older (a lot older) so it's a little harder on me, but if you want to be safe, you have to start with the hard stuff (kiting - which until you get the hang of it, can be exhausting).
I haven't solo'd yet (My schedule doesn't allow for me to just do all the lessons in a short time period). But I am looking forward to it. I also haven't made the decision if I want to pursue this as a full time hobby yet or not.
But I do want to thank YOU, Tucker for raising the interest in me to go see what it's all about. And I can tell you that a LOT of the other students there, that I've run into, are there because of YOU. There are a lot of folks watching your videos who find them just as inspiring as I do.

I think the reward of flying the way that you do will always exceed the risk. I just don't see you ever sitting on the sidelines. Being young and in great shape helps you tremendously. However that in of itself will not protect you unless you have prepared properly. Which includes great equipment and great training. I think you have demonstrated those qualities well and you are a great ambassador for the sport. I wish you continued success and continue to explore other ways of "flying"!

Tucker, thanks for the 9-year summary, with some very good information.
I too was saddened to hear of Jeff’s passing. You did an excellent job on his memorial, and an even better job investigating the possible cause of his accident. I think there are valuable lessons we can learn from Jeff’s accident. I have taken the liberty to list them below.
    1. There are many variables of risk in paramotoring. Too many times we tend to concentrate on only the most pending risk. Consequently, we fail to keep in mind the “total risk picture”. It is my feeling that many tragic accidents take place because the compounding of individual risk factors.
    2. Each individual risk factor has: 1) a range and 2) a rate of change associated with it. A wise pilot needs to: 1) know this information well and 2) take it into consideration every time they fly.
Wishing you many more enjoyable years of flying. Stay safe. Cheers!

I love your videos, your care and commitment to the sport and you general attitude. I think you're an absolutely fantastic representative of the community. That being said, I would like to strongly recommend one thing. Wear safety glasses! As a motorcyclist for over 50 years, I can testify to their benefits. I was reading with a friend who took a small dust particle to the eye at about 35mph. A very small, airborne particle. After 3 surgeries, they were able to save the eye but not his eyesight. A decent pair of stylish glasses is fairly cheap and you'd be surprised how quickly you get used to them. I agree with you that you have to balance risk and reward and that certain risk is the flavor of life, but I think you might be on the wrong side of this particular issue.

Aside from being a good paramotor pilot, he speaks well, fluently, without a script. Which is what you have to do to make money on RUclips.

My heart sank when you first mentioned Jeff's passing several videos back. I've been watching your videos since your first McDonalds visit from the sky and have enjoyed all of them. Your constant push for safety can't be pushed enough. Your thoughts on the FAA not interfering too much with what you do, I have to disagree. I'm part of the RC community and we are being highly over regulated regardless of being one of the safest hobbies out there. I hope I'm wrong but I have a feeling there are going to be huge restrictions placed on the Paramotor and Ultralight communities as well.

there's risk in everything but we call "risky" the things that are unusual. We can stand around overthinking and worrying or we can just go have fun. Either way no one gets out of this alive.

I don't mean this as a knock on Jeff, but I think you guys did learn at least a few important things about his accident. I think you guys came to the correct conclusion that he had a deep stall due to several factors. Overloaded, incorrect trim settings, poor weather. Of course, we're all human. Mistakes happen. But I think we should look at these things as stuff that we CAN control for. Of course, the risk can never be zero. Freak weather, bizarre equipment malfunctions, the odd brain fart. That's no reason not to try to make it as safe as possible.

When I first started watching you, you were a kid that I thought did some pretty sketchy stuff. I have watched you mature and become a very proficient pilot. Two years ago I was coming home on my Harley. A nineteen year old girl pulled out in front of me. I hit her going 50 mph. That one second changed my life forever. 45 years riding a motorcycle. Inherent risk. We accept it, we are as safe as we can be. Enjoy your life. It is indeed short.

I used to think how much it’s going to suck to end up seeing Tucker Gott’s eulogies. (discovered the channel around the time of his viral 15000+ feet high stunt) …. Now it seems more and more likely that we’ll see Tucker recording his adventure into his 30s/40s and beyond. Hope so.
