- In this full-length interview, actor Isaiah Washington sat down for his first-ever VladTV interview, where he talked about growing up in Houston and performing around the house as a kid. He went on to speak about growing up “country,” which he said was a lot like the hit show “P-Valley.” When asked about an incident that happened when he was 13, Isaiah explained that he saw his father’s name on the TV after he was killed, and Isaiah added that he never had a relationship with his dad. Isaiah explained that his father was abusive, and he recalled getting in between his parents when they had an altercation.
As the interview continued, Isaiah Washington spoke about being the captain of the football team in high school, and he explained that he was clever but never got in trouble as a teen. He added that he was more afraid of his grandmother and mother, and Isaiah detailed not getting a college scholarship. Isaiah explained that he was unknowingly caught up in a scandal where people were getting kickbacks for putting athletes in “lesser programs,” and he was one of those students. Isaiah added that he was surprised that he didn’t get better offers, and he knew that he was better than that. This led Isaiah to join the Air Force, and he revealed that after joining, it was revealed that he was being scouted by some of the biggest universities.
Moving along, the 59-year-old reflects on his friendship with the late R&B singer Aaliyah, being cast in a film called "Hollywood Homicide" and the behind-the-scenes role the LAPD and Suge Knight played in the overall presentation. From there, he talks about co-starring in classic films like "Strictly Business," "Clockers," and "Menace II Society." The native Texan also looks back on collaborating with the Hughes Brothers and their uncanny working relationships with certain actors on set. Lastly, Isaiah shares his thoughts on the "Slap Heard Around the World" before stating he didn't like seeing Will Smith bully Chris Rock.

Most interviewers don't do deep dives into their subjects, so he was delighted to answer questions about his past he probably hasn't been asked. Like a Nardwar interview. The artists get juiced cuz he be diggin in the crates with his questions 😅lol

I don’t like what he said about Aaliyah..she could’ve developed that sense of control after being abused.. also, the central park 5’s humanity doesn’t warrant the injustice they went through. We can’t chuck it up to “none of us are perfect”. but besides that.. this man is a treasure. His mind, career, stories & passion is incredible. He’s a rock.

It was just cringe worthy when he said at 15 Aaliyah was very much in control of her situation with R.Kelly and he was like in his 30s or close to 30 back then, she was still a child making certain decisions as a child who didn’t know any better, and Kelly was an adult so she wasn’t in control of making the best choices for herself as a child, Isaiah you dropped the ball on that statement that goes to show you kinda weird and if a 16 year old girl acted grown and tried to push up on you, would you take it there and say she was in control?🙄😖🤬 maybe yo background needs to be checked out?

The first time I saw Mr Washington, was at the age of 7 on Romeo Must Die. He made that Brutus trator so relatable I was in awe! I liked him even though I didnt!

Great interview. Isaiah had the type childhood alot of us did, growing up in the south, and when he said he feard his grandma and mama more than anything, I totally got it. Not that they were abusive, lots of love, but when they said something, they meant it. No begging you, or coddling!! lol. Isaiah has such a pleasant voice, very nice listening to him speak.

Although I enjoyed the interview and it was very entertaining I don't know if I really like Isaiah Washington anymore. His position about Trump is somewhat disturbing not only that his comment and his views about the Central Park five was even more disturbing because he somehow felt like they were Justified in getting the time because somewhere in their young life they did something wrong anyway so therefore whatever compensation they received and time spent somehow still was deserved.. that was a problem for me and his dismissive attitude about the many many hurtful comments Trump have made and the many things that he did do to her black people. They're black people sitting in prison during the marches as a result of his hatefulness. Trump was a bad person even if he was doing it to be the center of attention he was still given white people what they wanted. And had he stayed in office we would be in the worst place and Isaiah Washington knows this. I just don't think I like him now. There's just something about him that's off. I agree with some things that he said for instance the media none of them are on our side, I agree with him that white America have used every opportunity keep us where we are. But I don't think I like him now.
