We wanted to start off Season 8 with a BANG and bring it back to the essence of why we started the show in the first place. Yesterday marked our 3 year anniversary of podding so we felt that it was only right!
For Season 8 Episode 1 (Friends Turn Enemies), we welcomed Waltham Forest Legend ‘Action’ (Beaumont Boys) to share his story. What makes this episode extra special is that him and Spray started off as friends, then ended up trying to kill each other (Allegedly) to now being friends again. If you’re from Waltham Forest then you know bines was flying! That’s why this really means a lot. A must watch!
Action talked us through his upbringing and life story so far, including the backstory to how him and Spray fell out, why they made up and much more. From growing up in and out of jail to now holding down a good job and staying free. Too much jokes with this one as Action is a character. You were not only watching Action and Spray talking, you got to see Daniel and Léon reasoning aswell.
We then put him through his ‘RTM Fire Round’ (with a break for ‘RTM Banter’) before getting into some ‘Current Affairs’. The main subject was “Friends Turn Enemies” and the ‘RTM Dilemma’ and ‘Book Suggestion’ closed the show as usual along with some RIP’s & 3’s.

This was a great episode, as per usual; but this episode resonated more than normal for me.
More times I know of your guests - but I actually briefly knew Action (I met him in D-Cat 2016).
By the time I reached that part of my sentence, I didn't want to do anymore courses; so I chose to work in the prisons resettlement department as it was a job with perks.
I remember the process of getting Dan into ROTL work, so in addition to hearing about the rest of his story; it was lovely to hear about the benefits he got from being able to leave the gates - and also just how much it changed his perspective on life.
Some of the govs in that office really didn't wan't Dan to do ROTL work (Mr. Stringer and Mr. Vincent for anyone who knows), which in hindsight; is mad.
They could've prevented Dan from the enlightenment he spoke of, but I guess what's meant to be...really will be.
For myself I lined up a job outside of the gates for myself whilst in D-Cat, so I realised how pivotal re-integraing back into society was for my own rehabilitation - so to hear that from someone else is wonderful.
Spray, Cream and the RTM Podcast team; you guys have done an amazing job to create your platform. Your integrity has remained and it's clear to see that you're all following a vision - manifestation at its finest.
Blessings to Action, I'm glad he's doing well; keep up the amazing content.

THANK YOU ACTION!! Preach it, tell it! The prison system operates like modern day slavery. It makes money off prisoners which is why it is profitable for people to constantly going to prison.
Going on road and doing all that stuff just plays into the system.
The timing of this knowing that also Wiley and Dizzee reconciled too after 20 years. It goes to show that in some cases time really is a great healer...and it shows the yutes dem that problems can be resolved without taking it to levels where certain tings you have to live with that would drive anyone insane. 💪🏿👊🏿

A day after I’ve watched it and still thinking about this video. It’s absolutely fascinating!
There were so many golden opportunities for further debate and discussion that Action brought up. One of them was when he said he’s seen bad man turn snitch, bad man turn batty man (his words), bad man will be on your girl when you’re in jail etc.
It’s very interesting that he said that he’s seen a lot of these gangsters become homosexual. I have never seen this addressed in any videos with ex gangsters who went to jail.
Surely people should be more open to talk about the dangers of this as this alone may make some of the youngsters think twice.
Another thing I’d like to hear about is a day in the life of one of these sorts of gangsters. How things run, what’s the structure of their day, how do they feel when doing their job for the day. I appreciate that they don’t want to give the jakes any intel but I think it can be done sensibly without divulging any trade secrets as it were.
Lastly, I’m constantly hearing that poverty is the main driver for people joining gangs. It would have been nice to hear a bit more about what led him and his brothers to it in the first place. The only snippet I seemed to have heard (other than that he came from that family so was kind of next in line), is that he did not have his own bed until he was 13. That was definitely incredibly sad so we could have heard a bit more about that side of things.
Glad he’s off the streets now and doing regular activities which hopefully give him better purpose and peace of mind.
