    Great behind the scenes look! I first went on this ride probably in the late '70s, and after riding it I immediately got back in line to ride it again. I remember the torture chamber, the spinning spike wheel, the rotating tunnel (the tunnel was in two sections; one was painted neon green and rotated one way, the other painted orange and rotated the other, glowing under the blacklight. It gave the rider a sensation as if the car were tipping on its side). And IIRC, wasn't there a fly-man above the rider at some point, who struck his clear plastic case to scare people? Maybe some details from the Terroride got mixed in with my memories at some point, I remember both rides more fondly than anything else at Lagoon, ever.

    I hope they update this ride soon! It's my first year operator this season and to me, it has kind of turned into a Horror Junkyard. Don't get me wrong i absolutely love the ride, but they have let it go downhill for years now and its sad. Bill Tracy rides are the best! I work in Areas 7, 5 and whatever Bat is in now. If you still work there, let me know!
    Also a cool little thing with Lagoon that I don't think people know, is that someone has put little signs up around the park. one of them is right by Helicopters next to the trees by the clock in station. Look at the base of the tree closest to Helicopter and you can see a sign that say, "Future Fairy Home". Lots are placed around the park with other ones.

    One reason I have heard why the tunnels don’t spin anymore is because they were actually making people sick. It’s a shame they don’t use them because most of the good Halloween walk throughs throughout Salt Lake and Utah Counties have spinning tunnels that are actively used.

    I hope you don't mind my butting-in. I was a ride operator for this ride back in '97. I wanted to chime in with a few things. I'll start with the music. Back then, the soundtrack was from the 1978 version of Dracula. It was played from a cd changer in the maintenance room that was behind a sliding door from the loading area, and another door behind the turning tunnels. There was a closet next to the portrait with the scream. In this closet they kept an old wicker wheelchair that was supposedly haunted. I'll skip the story about that. The "George" gorilla used to be in Terroride, (I worked Terroride the year before in '96). The room that used to have Dracula in it, he was a rather stiff anamatronic who spoke to a disembodied head in a crystal ball, I think he called her "Morgana" or something like that. One of my favorite places to stand when I was the back operator was next to the hidden door across from "Sparky". I used to know his whole dialogue word for word. So, "Sparky" was there by at least '97. I don't know if it's the same recording though, I'd have to hear it. Another place I used to hang out was in the hidden alcove next to the skull pond. From there I figured out that I could climb up into the rafters. The tunnel still worked when I was there, but it was never turned on due to potential liability issues. There used to be a curtain of water right as you exit back to the loading area. The Dracula mannequin in the tower was up there in '97. I belive that it's still the same one. Then, in addition to that, there was the anamatronic Dracula inside. So there were two Draculas.

      I know where the CD is kept in the back room black box. The music is actually clipped sections from different types of music. One of them being from Tangerine Dream. Listen to the Kiev Mission track from the album Exit by Tangerine Dream and you'll see what I mean. George was in Terroride however. Before that he was on top of the Haunted Shack in the 60s. George wasnt put into Terroride until the early 70s. The old Dracula that was in the tower was Not an animatronic. It was a mannequin. The current Dracula IS an animatronic. Because Dracula quit working after a while. So he was replaced with Werewolves. And put in the tower. BTW I was also an operator for Draculas Castle in 1997. Ive been with Lagoon since 1994.

      @@firestepher72 Oh, I wasn't aware that they had swapped Draculas. I just thought that it was the same mannequin that had always been up there. If it's the old anamatronic Dracula, then it seems a shame to leave it exposed to the elements like that.
      If you worked "Area 1" back in '97 we may have worked together at some point, or our paths crossed somewhere.
      In '96 I was working "2B"/"Kiddieland". Which Terroride was oddly a part of.

      @@sakhalnakhash1123 i was mostly in Kiddieland in area 3 in 1997. Which was Tidal Wave, Speedway Sr. Rock o Plane. TOTC. Centennial Screamer. I also cross trained in area 1 and 2. So I operated Terroride and Draculas Castle. I worked 1994. 97. and 2000. After 2000 I pursued different career opportunities. After 20 years I returned to Lagoon last year and am still working there. The areas have changed significantly. Im in kiddieland/family ride area which is areas 3-6. I still operate Draculas Castle. I still have my Gold Badge from the summer olympics we used to have back in the 90s and 2000s. I wear it on my lanyard as a reminder to the 90s.

    Thats pretty awesome! Thanks for the Walkthrough! I love this ride, it's a great classic bill Tracy dark Ride, I've always wondered what it looks like lights on. A few of the animtronics have been a little worn down lately, but its still a fun ride. I miss the spinning spikes and the Gargoyles that used to be at the end.

    Hi. Just wondering on the exterior facade where Dracula and the Wolf Man are in those towers, do they have access via a staircase, or ladder to go up to them internally, or do they have to be accessed outside with a boom lift, or alike.

    • @firestepher72
      @firestepher72  2 года назад +1

      There is an access point inside where the ride exit is. A hidden room with a ladder is on the east side. A catwalk to get to the west side from the east access point.

      One other question, do both of those figures get taken in during the winter, or are they left out year round?

      @@ResidentOfTheAbyss Good question. Now that I am unsure of. I believe they are covered during the winter. Maintenance works on all the rides during the winter months. Most rides either get covered. Or dismantled and stored during winter.

    do you know where they bought the rat that was moved in from terroride, or is it original?

    • @firestepher72
      @firestepher72  2 года назад

      It is original to Terroride.The rat was designed by Bill Tracy. Many Dark Rides in the country have rat props that are the same or very similar to the rat from Terroride. Bill Tracy designed both the orig Terroride and Draculas Castle. There are videos on youtube that show many other Bill Tracy Dark Rides. You will see many similarities in those compared to Lagoon's.
