Yessss....me to! It seems like she uses a variety of different products frequently to try them out from the videos, but I’m sure she has her tried and true that she always goes back to. I’ve seen mention of a product here and there as one of her favs but, would love to have those details included in one video.
4:07 - The way she knocked those products off of the counter haha! EDIT - Please don't forget to educate us about fermented skin care (often found in K-beauty products) for skin of darker hues. Thank you Doc!!
No no Marie and YokaiYohi lol. I’m just asking Dr. Stephens to elaborate more on the benefits (and concerns) of fermented skincare for skin of darker hues- for informational purposes. I’m trying to learn more bc I use it too!! 😂😂
So glad to see you mention wiping down our phones. It's so satisfying wiping my phone down with a Saniwipe a few times a day! I feel like it's silly to wash my hands 20 times a day but never clean my phone.
I really need to figure out if my skin picking is a psychological concern for me. It's the hardest habit to break. Thanks so so much for the continued reminder to stop picking🙏🏾!
I’m so glad you talked about reapplying sunscreen, I definitely didn’t know that and I was wondering why my hyperpigmentation was getting darker when I was wearing sunscreen.
Hi Dr. Alexis! Do you mind doing a video on skincare products (Cleansers, toners, exfoliants, moisturizers, serums, etc) for the right skin type? For combination skin, sensitive skin, dry skin, oily skin, etc??? 🥺
Wow, I’ve been making more mistakes than I thought. Love your channel, I’m so glad I found a woman of color skincare channel that can teach me what I need to know ❤️❤️❤️
Since adding tretinoin last summer, I've eliminated products from my routine. With winter dryness, my skin was flaking from the tretinoin. I stopped using cleanser in the morning and I added a very hydrating moisturizer under my tretinoin and a very hydrating sunscreen during the day. The flakes were gone within two weeks.
I just bet ure and EXCELLENT DERMATOLOGIST. So smooth and calm talking, always got that beautiful smile, and so smart and informative. Ure the type of doc that would tell people bad news in the most thoughtful way to avoid patients getting too traumatized/sad/etc❤
Your voice is soooooo soothing. It amazes me how all of you skinfluencers out there with full time jobs find the time to vlog so often. You and Dr. Dray are impressive women. I love to see women dominating in a field.
Found your channel recently - I've moved away from following "beauty gurus" for skincare advice and always looking for great dermatologist-run channels. My wallet is already feeling the difference and so is my bathroom countertop! Skincare = healthcare really resonated with me. Subscribed instantly and loving your videos. And btw, your skin is so radiant, #goals!
I was deffenitly doing to many products and to many steps. I'm down to a wash-toner-moisturizer with spf in it and my skin has calmed down. Love your videos so happy I found your channel!!
This was so helpful Dr. Alexis!! That recommendation to use Niacinamide with Retinol was and eye opener, an AHA! moment. THANK YOU!! I love your videos!
Thank you for producing these videos. Please do a review of the products you use and why in the AM and PM. Please include sun hats and sunglasses. Thank you again.
Thank You so much, I was definitely making mistakes - Vitamin C, day and Retinol/Niacinomide at night alone with protecting delicate areas of my face. You're a god send, Thanks.
Hello doc, I enjoy your videos so much that you have become “my” dermatologist lol. This video was so needed and I have to watch it a few times so I can get it ingrained into my head to fix my skin care errors lol. My skin has been looking amazing the more I am consistent and you have helped in that journey. Thank you! My question for you is can you make a video for a proper skincare routine for black MEN? I am looking to adjust my night routine and completely overhaul my day routine so that I’m getting all of the benefits. Also what is a good product to get rid of razor bumps on the back of the head? Thanks again for all you do. 😊
Good morning! ☺️ My mistake was putting on my skin care right before bed. Should we wash our eye mask to block out light nightly as well? Thank you so much! I love learning! Can you do a video of your top 5 or 10 products from Target or Walmart? 😁🙏🏽 Have a fabulous day! ❤️Maddy
I’m guilty of picking 🙈 and I need to start my skin care routine earlier in the evening. I’ve really worked on the other mistakes mentioned and have seen some great improvements. Thank you for the continued amazing content it’s greatly appreciated 🙏🏼💕
Thank you Dr. Stevens. As a WOC you have helped my skin improve so much. I was guilty of one skin care mistake which is protecting those sensitive areas prior to vit a application. I’m gonna do some searching for that anti oxidant product you showed us!! Thank you so much :)
Dr. Stephens, Your videos have changed my life! I watch every video that you post. Would you be willing to make a video on fighting ace and hyperpigmentation during pregnancy and breast feeding. I am a breast feeding mom with really bad hyperpigmentation so I need all the advice!
Love your content, you've helped me so much on my skincare journey, my biggest issue has been hyperpigmentation. It is difficult to get some of the recommended products in Nigeria especially sunscreens.
LOVE THE DETAILED INFORMATION I WOULD REALLY LOVE FOR YOU TO LIST AND TALK ABOUT THE PRODUCTS USED IN THIS VIDEO AND EXPLAIN IN DETAIL WHAT EACH DOES FOR THE SKIN.
First let me say that I love your channel and has learned so much. I started seeing a dermatologist in December 2023 and was prescribed Tazarotene Gel 0.05 for acne scarring which is mostly under the skin. It was also suggested that I should have four sessions of micro needling treatments. How do you feel about La Roche-Posay and Buttah by Dorian skincare products? By the way, I’m 63 years young.😊
Hi Dr. Alexis, thanks for the video! I've watched a lot of your videos so I'm no longer making these mistakes, except the first one sometime. I'm going to try doing my skincare earlier in the evening.
Please do a video on human growth factors in skin care and whether these make a difference and how best to pair with other products like retinol and glycolic acid etc
Hey can you show the right way to apply sunscreen Bc mine keeps pealing and it’s the ELTA MD tinted 46 and I use it in the morning just over a gel moisturizer. I wash my face and put on the moisturizer then when my face is dry I apply sunscreen .
Yeeeei!!! Thank you so much for another amazing video!! I’m about to join Danielle (Style and Beauty Doctor) for the hyperpigmentation series and definitely mentioning you for saving my skin!!!
Not sure if you have a video on body acne, but I'd love to see one if you don't already! I used to have a lot of breakouts on my back, and that coupled with my picking habit led to some keloids 😞 would love to hear some advice on minimizing it
Dr. Stephens, Thank you for educating us on skin care. Can you please do a video on moisturizers and sunscreen to use together that does not make you sweat like crazy? I am having a difficult time finding a balance. I am constantly sweating. Thank you.
Hi Dr. Stephens, can you make a video about taking the proper steps of cleaning your skin, like which should be applied first toner or moisturizer etc. also, how many times a week do you recommend someone should do this routine. Lastly, what’s should be different from your morning face cleansing routine then your nightly routine do I used the same products as I did this morning?
it is a testimony to accounts like yours that I passed the test but the sunscreen issue is sth I can't solve. I wish there was more info about it beyond "wear sunscreen". night shifts, no exposure to sun, being inside, blue light, etc. Michelle did a couple of videos but they left me more confused bc the little bit of info there is on what to do under such circumstances is conflicting and only touches the surface of dark skin. please please do an in depth video on that. please.
dr. stephens, i am so happy i came across your channel! your videos are so informative and straight to the point :) thank you for sharing your knowledge with us
Thanks so much for your videos! Can you please make a video where you show us how much product (as in size) one should use. I feel like I use too much of everything 😭
Love your channel Dr.Alexis! I may have missed a previous video, but I'd love to hear your take on face masks . How often, what to look for or avoid..etc
Subscribed! Idk how you like cerave cream to foam cleanser though! I used their original cleanser which had a neutral smell however this one smells a bit like school glue to me. This was a very thoughtful and helpful video! Thanks for this!
Thankfully with the amount of skincare videos that I watch I have been fixing these mistakes over the years. The one that I struggle with is the re-application of sunscreen. So hard to find one that works yet alone another formula that I would actually want to apply again.
I saw the cerave cream to foam cleanser for the first time and purchased it without a second thought, and boy do I love that cleanser! I feel like sunscreen irritates my newly formed eczema on my face, specifically around my mouth. It's really destroying my body image these days. And recommendations for sensitive dark skin?
Would LOVE to see
- your skincare routine AM and PM
- the sunscreens you actually use and love
- holy grail products
- body care products
So would I !! 🙋🏽♀️
Yessss....me to! It seems like she uses a variety of different products frequently to try them out from the videos, but I’m sure she has her tried and true that she always goes back to. I’ve seen mention of a product here and there as one of her favs but, would love to have those details included in one video.
Mam ur hairstyle is beautiful.
Thank you!
Thank you for this video! It’s so good to have a Black woman dermatologist making these resources. It feels like I have someone in my corner.
Not only a black female dermatologist but also a former chemist/chemical formulator....invaluable!
Please I need your help
4:07 - The way she knocked those products off of the counter haha! EDIT - Please don't forget to educate us about fermented skin care (often found in K-beauty products) for skin of darker hues. Thank you Doc!!
what?? fermented skincare products are bad for darker skin types? i had no idea
BRUH WTF STOP PLAYING IM USING A FERMENTED ESSENCE RNNN
PLZ REPLY IM LITERALLY CRYINNGGGGG
YESS I WAS LIKE "oh, oh okay. Damn." Ahahaa
No no Marie and YokaiYohi lol. I’m just asking Dr. Stephens to elaborate more on the benefits (and concerns) of fermented skincare for skin of darker hues- for informational purposes. I’m trying to learn more bc I use it too!! 😂😂
Your editing skills get stronger and stronger every video.
So glad to see you mention wiping down our phones. It's so satisfying wiping my phone down with a Saniwipe a few times a day! I feel like it's silly to wash my hands 20 times a day but never clean my phone.
I'm guilty of waiting too long for my nighttime skincare routine
Yeah sometimes I did not wait 30mins+ after my skin routine before I went to bed 😭
We are all guilty😀
Yeah i guess I'll start washing as soon as I get home too just to avoid the problem.
Thank you for everything you do!! As a black woman, you have helped my pigmentation issues so much!!
she’s the best 😭
My skin is changing before my eyes!
Hi ,I’m 50years I have pigmentations and now I’m using ordinary products but I don’t see change. What can I use ? I need your help please
What are you using. Please share ☺️
Wow, I’ve been making more mistakes than I thought. Love your channel, I’m so glad I found a woman of color skincare channel that can teach me what I need to know ❤️❤️❤️
Definitely guilty of trying the whole line of different skin care products and laying on my pillow too soon.
Since adding tretinoin last summer, I've eliminated products from my routine. With winter dryness, my skin was flaking from the tretinoin. The gems were drop Dr. Alexis!!! Absolutely have been guilty of H.I.F (hand in face) syndrome since quarantine started. 🙈

Excellent advice!! I am guilty of several of these! Will do better.
Ill never get over your voice. Too soothing
Subscribed! All of the reminders were super relevant and definitely guilty of 2 of these common mistakes!
My favorite black dermatologist is so beautiful. Your skin is glowing
Getting rid of moles. Help is needed. Thanks.
Ahhh the face picking video has me 🥴 but it’s something I’m so guilty of
Yeah my face was like 😳 lol but just as she said, sometimes we need someone to point it out.. Our skin will be better if we stop picking.
Great point about pillow situation. Thanks you.🌺
Tyty. My skin is responding so well to the advice you give and my coin 👛 is heavier thanks to your price tags for great skin care products.
Would love to see a video on your views about makeup and certain brands you'd recommend that are ok for the skin eg. foundations.
I’ve been binge watching you ALL night and morning lol thank you for all the information!
Me too! I’m so glad I found her. 💕
Thank you for this information Dr. Alexis!

Skincare routine + pjs = best part of my day ❣️
De. Stephens, can you explain the 2 finger rule when using sunscreen? Thanks
I think it would be cool to do a video on proper skin routine for dry skin types and discussing glass skin.
Please do a Spring/Summer care skin routine!
Dr. Stephens,
Your videos have changed my life! I watch every video that you post. Would you be willing to make a video on fighting ace and hyperpigmentation during pregnancy and breast feeding. I am a breast feeding mom with really bad hyperpigmentation so I need all the advice!
This is very helpful. Thank you so much for making me aware of these mistakes 🤭At least am not doing all of them🤣🤣From Botswana 🇧🇼
I’m just gonna slip these pillow cases into the wash brb
Love your content, you've helped me so much on my skincare journey, my biggest issue has been hyperpigmentation. It is difficult to get some of the recommended products in Nigeria especially sunscreens.
THANK YOU! Always so informative!!
I was doing skin care then directly to bed! Also not listening to skin when it feels irritated!
I always learn something new from your videos @least 6 from this lesson ✌🏾
Also the best serum for dry skin and when best to use them.

Will there be a Dr. Alexis skincare line in the future :)
If I can one day get my skin 10% as beautiful as Dr. Alexis's skin then I'll die a happy man. Keep up the tips Doc!
Absolutely gorgeous and thanks so much !!!

Yes I show how to apply in my sunscreen video ❤️
I just found you yea! I love your tip about singing a song the whole way through to know if you have cleansed enough. That is brilliant!
I am using tretinoin 0.1%. I will take your advice and pair it with niacinamide. Do I apply the niacinamide before or after tret?
Yeeeei!!! Thank you so much for another amazing video!! I’m about to join Danielle (Style and Beauty Doctor) for the hyperpigmentation series and definitely mentioning you for saving my skin!!!
I literally just wash my face w water 😩 but I was thinking I need to take care of my face, found your chanel now, nice video 😘

Great tip on trying one thing at a time. My first thing which is very important to me is the sunscreen. Supergoop, Here I come.
