omggg I'm so stoked to have found you! A melanated board certified and articulate woman with flawless skin telling my clueless ass how to treat my skin? So here for it!! Thank you and keep posting, please!
Not going to lie it's pretty irritating as a black woman when I see people calling us "articulate" or "well spoken"... Like you never see someone saying that under a white girl's video as if it's unexpected from us. Just saying I don't think you meant harm but they always feel like backhanded compliments in my book.
I’m so happy to have found you as well. I purposely searched for black skin and happy to find a smart dermatologist that lays out everything step by step.Thank you so much.
The moisturizer I use the most is riceberry liitllextrra. I got my three new tubes a few months ago, and I’ve been using it for 4 months. I have combination skin, and it feels like it’s made for my skin. It completely stops my skin from drying for 24hrs. Not sticky, no fragrance, this moisturizer feels so nice on a cool or rainy day. Locks in hydration perfectly. You can absolutely trust this brand.

Okay, I'll be trying VERSED. I'm heading to Target later to buy it. I hope it works. I just bought a $150 moisturizer by Kate Somerville. I'll be returning it and hoping brands sold at Target works. I'm tired of spending money on high-end brands that do nothing.
OMG, you are adorable. I didn't learn this stuff until I was 35 or so. Now I'm 62. Younger women have such a better handle on skincare at an early age!
Came here to say my hormonal acne has decreased by almost 100%, my pores looking itty bitty and my hyperpigmentation is fading, thanks to you Dr.Alexis and your recommendation on Azelaic Acid.
Two things: Can you do a video on under eye cremes/gels for black skin. In this season eyes get dry and itchy that can cause dark circles under eyes. Also have you heard from the APC people? I just ordered it from amazon and want to know if I should use it or send it back ?

Hi Dr A from South Africa I have a deep appreciation for Doctors that are there to really help us brown skin ladies so I have pigmentation and would really love if you can recommend products or treatments that I can get here in South Africa to treat my pigmentation and for anti aging as I am in my late 40
Hello. She has videos about hyperpigmentation here in which she recommended alpha arbutin, azelaic acid and some specific formulation of Vit C from brands such as The Ordinary, Inkey List and I think Naturium and CeraVe. I think The Ordinary actually has official stockists in SA. CeraVe too Perhaps search 'Dr Alexis hyperpigmentation'. Dr Dray, Dr Shah and Dr Vanita Rattan also have a lot of advice about Retinoids (for anti-aging) Dr Alexis may have something on Retinoids here too
How about 46 year old me who basically washes her face with a cream cleanser for sensitive skin and that’s it. 🤷🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ Better late than never I guess.
I love the Naturium Plant Ceramide cream! I have been using it since they released it (a year ago..?) and it works really well with my dry skin and the price point isn’t too bad either. Thank you for this video!
I’m 52 I guess the only thing for me to do at this point is make a visit to a dermatologist. She lost me at the age group. But I will continue to follow
Your skin is gorgeous! I am on a new skincare journey and this video is right on time. Eliminating sugar has already shown me phenomenal results and now I want to top it off with the perfect combination of products. 😆
I'm very reticent to try versed. I've tried a couple of their products and they made my daughter and I breakout. I love the naturium vitamin c complex and the vitamin c super serum though. I want to try the ceramide cream, but I'm currently using the Acure radically rejuvenating night cream.
You look beautiful in these colors! Great advice, as usual. Unfortunately, I did not use my 20’s and early 30’s wisely, so I am in reversal mode. Getting ready to start tretinoin soon 👍🏻
I’ve been using tretinoin for the past 4 months for acne scars/hyperpigmentation and despite the initial dryness and irritation, my skin looks tremendously better. The dryness and irritation did subside after a month for me.
So glad you did this video. I'm in my late 50's and some of this I currently do but not all. I know you do a lot of videos on hyperpigmentation but so glad to see you address a topic that includes mature skin. I'm constantly working to get the best out of my routine. Hi Dr Alexis! I’m a little confused about the Versed products that you presented in the beginning of the video. Do I need both of them or just one? These products are the vitamin C product that I need daily & does not take the place of the peptide product that I’m supposed to use at night, right? BTW, you are AMAZING! & I’m SO grateful you’re guiding me through my skin care routine ❤
I’m 51 years old and am new to using skincare on a regular basis. Thanks for sharing and I’ve enjoyed and taken notes 📝 on each video. Do I use the Versed night cream with the Olay 24 Retinol?
Collageen powder works the best my mom use it in the coffee and after 2 month her fine lines where all gone and her hair was more full and shiny. Hope it will work for you if you want to try it out.
Simple Regimen Example:
*Morning*
Step 1-Gentle Cleanser
Step 2-Antioxidant Serum (preferably w/ vitamin C)
Steps 3 & 4-Moisturizer & Sunscreen (or moisturizing sunscreen)
*Evening*
Step 1-Gentle Cleanser
Step 2-Collagen booster or Retinol
