Look, I don't listen to this type of music. At all. I listen to rock and rap and that's usually it. But this woman is special. Artists like Taylor Swift and Katy Perry to me are garbage in the moment stuff. They will be insignificant throughout the course of music history. Adeles voice gives me the chills. I believe Adele is the biggest thing since Mike Jack and will likely go down as the single greatest selling artist of all time. When all is said and done her name will fall along the greats like Elvis and Bob Marley. That's from a guy who doesn't listen to this type of music.

I remember one of the first times I actually watched Adele live was when she played I think at the Grammys, in front of obviously many legends, among them sir Paul McCartney. She sang one of her songs just dressing a very simple black dress and her hair and make-up were actually also very simple. She had no complex movements or staging, nor any special visuals around her or dancers. Just her singing a song. By the time she finished, everyone at the crowd stood up and clapped for a long time, and then the camera made a close-up on Paul McCartney rising up and clapping like a little kid himself, along with the rest of the crowd, smiling, cheering at her. At that moment I thought: "So, Paul fucking McCartney, composer and founder of The fucking Beatles, is an Adele fan. Wow, That's a talented woman there. Not the American superstars with all that marketing and super stages and all their exotic outfits, and their bodies being exposed in an excessive way. Not them. Here, on this stage, this is a true legend on the making".

So does she. She's not a fan of the version on the album, which is why she doesn't perform it like that.
The one on the album was the original demo and the high notes during the chorus were suggested by Dan Wilson. Despite her not being a fan of it, she sang it like that anyways.
When it came to finalizing the album, she preferred the version with just her voice and piano (the final version has strings and a choir in it) and recording was finished, so she had to use the demo.

I think you’re right. I just came across this video a few weeks ago and was blown away by it. Until then the other one was my favorite. When she turns her head and cries in her performance at Royal Albert Hall it gets me every time 🥺 but you can feel the emotion even more in this version.
I prefer the studio version. She never sings the "don't forget me, I beg..." part like in the studio version.

Maybe it's sometimes something internal. I mean No one is perfect you know. May be Adele had something that doesn't meet "that guy's" requirements. Coming from somebody who almost exclusively listens to metal and old school rock bands from the 60's, 70's and 80's - Adele is amazing. Her voice is absolutely fucking incredible and her songs are extremely catchy and memorable.
A voice like this doesn't come around very often. There's tons of great singers out there, but Adele is in a league or her own. Even if you don't like her songs, how can you not appreciate her voice? As I said, I'm a metal fan more than anything and don't really listen to this kind of stuff, but I love Adele. She's one of the best singers I've ever heard in my life, honestly.
Freddie Mercury is my favourite singer ever, but Adele is seriously 2nd for me. To me, her voice is truly that good. I'm one of those people who normally hate on stuff like this, but Adele is an amazing talent, with one of the most powerful and unbelievable voices I've ever heard.
Like I said, whether you like her songs or not, you have to appreciate her voice. She's one of the best singers I've ever heard in my entire life and unlike tons of men out there, I'm not embarrassed to call myself an Adele fan. A voice like this is rare and so is her ability to make so many catchy and memorable songs.
Seriously, I can't say it enough about how amazing that voice is. Words cannot describe how fucking great her voice is. Adele is really a special talent and deserves all the praise she's been getting over the years. She's just too damn good.

I couldn't agree more. I first heard this song making a long journey home. From listening to Aerosmith, Madness and some great Iron Maiden. I decided to listen to the radio and had to stop when this song came. I cannot listen to it without being reminded of the pain and heartache that I've felt in my life. I can only say that to describe this song doesn't do it justice on any level. The only way I can describe truly listening to this with your heart is simply devastating. This isn't a put together song by some pop song writer. This is a song written by someone who's had their heart torn out of them and being destroyed totally in a relationship. It shows that the deepest and most painful scars are the ones we carry deep inside Ilya and aren't seen by others.

we're classmates, and there aaall my friends were saying "girl listen, there's some feeling in his eyes". There were so many people saying this in different places, that I ended up believing it. But I was extremely annoyed with it (because I knew he had a life totally opposite to the one I led. It was my parties... And he with the church. So a relationship would never be possible.) He was one of the boys that me inspired to sing (when I created my youtube channel) he would appear at school screaming: “c'mon, u know i'm your fan numb one on this school” • “i watch absolutely eeevery video you do” and stuff like that... And the looks and smiles lasted throughout high school. I remember drinking at parties, and I also remember praying for him many times. I'd say "God I can'ttt like him. God U know we're different". Yet the feeling remained. Time passed, and I never had the courage to speak in person.
Then years later... School was already over. I texted him (while listening to the song I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston) lolll I still can'tttt believe it, but that's what inspired me to write.🤣 It was dawn like 3am
He viewed it and after 24 hours replied: "I didn't expect this so I'm sorry for the delay... you made me cry". I was glad he at least responded. A few hours later, he - for the FIRT TIME - posted a video with his girlfriend. 🤡 I can't even describe how it hurt guys.... But we're friends after all this. And when we meet there is still a kind of atmosphere, but today we are adults, and i see that our paths are very different. 🌹

the pitch difference in this version with the lyric "don't forget me, i beg" is so much better than in the album ver, it's a specific nitpick but i love the way it sounds in this recording
You’re totally right. It’s not nitpicky either. It changes the dynamic of the song and makes her sound more heartbroken. It’s a really beautiful change from the original.
nah I just think that she had to strain her voice to reach that note in the recording and she doesn't want to put too much pressure on it in every live performence. But I agree, I think that it sounds better this way, in the studio version it sounds a little bit strained (she did need to have a surgery on her vocal chords because she used to strain her voice a lot from what I understand)
