Wonderful pens, Katja! And I am honoured to be your fountain pen encyclopedia! It's really nice we spent a Christmas together - I learned about fountain pens by watching all of Brian Goulet's videos (who was pretty much the only person who regularly uploaded videos on fountain pens at the time) around Christmas 2010.

I found this 3 Top Three fountain pen piece so refreshing :=) Joost, your easy going manner with Katja Engelkamp and her love for fountain pens made this so enjoyble to watch. The Scribo pens I've considered, but for now I'll have to wait. So good to hear such a positive review of the Scribos, but doesn't take away from the other spectaular fountain pens Katja brought and showed. Lovely video, and was a pleasure to watch. Thank you both.

I've just watched four of these "Top 3" videos in a row. Even when I don't like the pens they've chosen, I'm fascinated by the reasons people give for choosing the pens they choose as their favorites. And like some of them, if I were asked to choose my top three, I'd cheat and trot out several honorable mentions.
None of my top three are among my most expensive or most unusual pens. One is a Sheaffer Targa, one is a Waterman Ideal Gentleman in sterling godron, and one is a Parker 75. What they have in common is that they were given to me by my parents - one for Christmas, one for my birthday, and one because my mother thought it was beautiful and wanted me to have it. If I could take only three, I'd be deeply saddened to abandon my other pens, but those are the three that I'd save. They all write beautifully, but even if they wrote like nails, I'd save them. Well, I have a Yard-O-Led that's a gift from my wife, the only pen she's ever given me. I'd have to save that one, too. It seems that what binds me most tightly to pens is sentiment.
I'm curious; what did Ms Engelkamp end up buying for her daughter?

Really enjoyed this.. we've got a lovely pen and stationary brick and mortar store here in Boulder.. not the selection of Appleboom.. but fun, and the owners.. Gerald and Maya understand the passion of collecting and using fountain pens.. love this series. We have a lot of wildfires here in Colorado.. I should have a Go box for my pens.. thank you!

At first I thought wow a Visconti has the best nib? Because that was definitely not the case the last time I bought one (admittedly 20 or so years ago), but then it was explained about the nibmeister and it all made sense.

I find it interesting that there aren't any bombastic special edition pens here. Yes, they're not exactly cheap pens and the materials are somewhat rare, but they're all "writer's pens".

@@katjaengelkamp3452 Scribo. Scribo. Scribo! The OMAS nibs + very interesting resins = futility in resistance at its greatest. That one you had was just jaw dropping beautiful. Not to say the rest of your pens weren't, but that Scribo.
