Someone who is passionate about pens. Knowledgeable and a user not just a collector. Fountain pens are one of those objects, along with old books, that have more than one dimension, nice to look at and functional.
Dave, thank you for this. Unwittingly you have strengthened my belief in my own judgment. The first 2, Fog, & Hills, I get. Very striking & unique demonstrators. After that my jaw dropped. The next 2 look like they were made by WARHAMMER™, & the Sakura Nagare like something from Barbarella. I agree with your reply to Ramapriya D's unenthused reaction, that luckily, everyone has their own taste. The LB5 Kouseki is a smasher, so I like half of those you showed. It takes all sorts I suppose. I enjoy your hypnotic ink comparisons. Keep it up!
Visconti pens are like Alpha romeo cars. Nice to look at but temperamental. I love my Conway Stewart 84 with a gold fine stub flexi nib. It's in green and black celluloid cracked ice finish. £35 from Ebay. It's wonderful. My daily carry is a Pilot Tank fountain pen with cartridges. It has a wonderful medium fine nib. £20. My most expensive pen is a Pilot Custom heritage 912 with the falcon super flex nib. Awesome. Japanese pens are Like Japanese cars. Most are impeccable.
The third pen you showed (the Sailor with the gold and raden finish) was really stunning. I would like to see a video on it at some time in the future. Thanks for all your videos. I watch them with great relish.
I accidentally ordered an XF !! with a Homo Sapiens Bronze Swirl. Like you I was, I thought a M to B type of guy. This won me over to fines-minus. I love it. It's a joy to use and has never failed to give me pleasure.
Now thats what i call...Top 3 oh yess, its nice to see some high end pen action as a top favorite. Those pens definitely did not belong to your great grandma, thats for sure : )
I have a couple of Viscounti pens and they are beautiful, but they both have problems writing well. the dreamtouch nib is nice in that it has a little flex, but it has problems running dry. It is a brand that I want to love, but I just can't
I agree! I hane a Homo Sapiens in the smaller size and am not altogether satisfied w how it writes even after the retailer kindly had the nib adjusted. It still skips and makes trouble too frquently for my taste. The same w my Van Gogh-pens fr Visconti, sometimes they write sometimes not... so sadly no more Viscontis for me....They are lovely to look at but w a pen you want it ti write without any problems...
Great choices… nice pens… but for the money. PenBBS and others have just as amazing resins/acrylics and at much more civil prices… Your first two, look too much like acrylics offered at far less money by Asian pen manufacturers. I just think they look “okay” and are way, way over priced… I love PenBBS and the reasonableness of their price points. And the quality is comparable. At least, there is no brain hemorrhage at the notion of accidentally dropping one.
The stories behind your pens are as great as the pens themselves! Thanks!
Spectacular pens, Dave. You gave a thoughtful and insightful commentary enhancing the presentation. This video will be tough to beat.

The stories behind these pens are just fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing these.
Wow! Sooooo over the top but sooooooooo beautiful! What an amazing collection!
All beautiful pens. I'm new to pen collecting, but some day I'll be there!
Each of these pens ultimately are works of art. The soul of the pen is seen when it writes...
Gorgeous choices
Beautiful pens Dave. All 6 of them are amazing.
Tell him one of his new followers had just glanced at his page and could not handle it.... very overwhelmed by looking at just one video.....

(Playfully) forget you Dave! Forrrrgeeeet you!!!!! You my friend have a great collection(even for your top three.
Taste clearly is an individual thing. I wasn't enthused with any of those. More staid options for me, thank you :)
Thank you for your opinion! Indeed, everyone had a different taste (luckily!)

Personally I find these pens to be gross, just too too
