i was shocked when i found out the trapper and trader were the same masks but flipped, thats an amazing way of hiding the reveal in plain sight
Me who didnt even notice the twist because i was too focused on not freaking dying:
@@pirilon78 I got super lucky with my death cards so i finished the fight really fast lol. (Although that did become an issue down the line with that one fight)
the trapper also gives it away with one piece of dialogue too.
@@dewhi100 which dialogue is it again? idk if i heard it or forgot
@@velvetdraws3452 When talking to the Trapper he says, "trade these pelts with m- with the trader up ahead" or something similar.
Leshy is the friend we all want who can immerse us in a tabletop game in the ultimate way possible
Minus the camera part
@@theedgyhollowknight3118 that's just truly putting you in the game
Well, he's the best DM.
All he really wants is to give you a memorable experience. He’s a storyteller.
@@Kropothead and to turn you into the card 🙃
Slow-paced, tense boss music is literally the best kind of battle track. The very second I first heard the humming in-game, I felt like I was well and truly screwed. This whole boss fight was excellent.
cemented how hopeless i felt against this guy on my first run
this boss was absolutely incredible mechanics wise, glad it’s backed up by sufficiently nerve-wracking music
...and then he spams grizzlys at you.
@@nanobugs933 Well, Grizzlies are not part of the boss's mechanic. It is Leshy's way of stopping you from beating the game on 1st try. When Leshy does it, it actually disables second phase boss mechanic and instead yeah, just spams you with "Uh... Bears!".
opened a pyro stream and he was playing this and i was like "dat shit fire"
I like to imagine that Leshy actually hums this theme himself as the Trapper at the beginning of the encounter
He just seems like the kind of DM dorky and intense enough to do songs at the table
Also nice when I noticed that the humming is just long enough to actually do yourself in this track, without needing to cut and edit it on a platform.
It´s easily possible to keep up with the entire track humming alongside it with just a deep breath before humming, so who knows, it may very well be Leshy.
I think you can actually hear him inhale before humming- Maybe it's just me.
He's the best DM, he even has a guitar under his table and an entire rat army with instruments
i didn't notice that until now
@@andrewryan2928 it's my headcanon that Grimora has a dozen skeletons making the sounds of her music just out of sight
Our DM hosts a western campaign and he spent a solid few weeks hyping us up and hinting towards a *secret* encounter, making us collect notes and read journals, all of which mentioned a man called “ The Highwayman.” and the week before the fight, we spoke to a witness to the supposed Highwayman, saying that he killed several marshals, bounty hunters, and government officials. He, being the clever bastard, led us to the highwayman, making us take a carriage to get to the town he was last reported at, during the trip our carriage driver got shot several times, leading us to leave the carriage, ready for a fire fight. We set boots and heels onto the gravel and dirt road, down the road, we see a figure. White shirt, grey vest, cloth mask around his head, dust goggles, black slacks with iron bent and fit over his legs, a singular brimmed hat, and a Big Iron in his hand. You faced The Highwayman. And as soon as he said that, he turned this music on his living room speakers. We had goosebumps.
bro if this happened to me im leaving, no way we survive that encounter
good DM ngl
Man, that DM's presentation is *on point*
I am gonna use this music for something similar in my campaign, except in my case, its Weresharks, and they hum this as their shanty below decks during combat
You know what's the difference between a villain and a super villain?
PRESENTATION!
I love the fact that the percussion sounds like a ticking clock
Oh my god.
It gives it a sense of urgency. The song in “Interstellar” uses a similar ticking.
I dont want to be that "Well actually" guy....BUT the percusions actually sound like a saw...well just hear me out, since we know the trapper sells pelts its obvious he has to skin the animals right? well if you wanted to skin lets say...a wolf its a very complicated and tedious process, its a lot of ground to cover so what a lot of traders used to do was brutal and gross, easiest way to skin a wolf, saw off all 4 legs and tail, and if you listen carefully to the percusions it implies movement up and down like a saw cutting through bone and cartilage hitting and moving the wooden table underneath and the humming is something you could Hum as you...worked...eugh (This is also supported by the skin tearing sfx you can hear during the encounter as the trapper moves from wolf to wolf) P.S. In case you're wondering I learned all of this watching a Taxidermy Documentary
@@sonicmomo1 I thought it was a hint of the bigger picture.
I’m 95% sure that the scraping noises are wooden frogs (wood carvings shaped like frogs with ridges in them that a stick is scraped back and forth on). I’m also inclined to believe it due to how well it thematically fits in the fight
The song really captures a feeling of betrayal to me. You've more than likely ran into this guy a few time, purchasing his wares to help you out, only to wind up being next in line to be hunted.
Little did he know I used the fused mantis god the pelts he sold me got me to bust his ass open

He could've just cut the middle man and sold cards for teeth but no, he had to make it complicated.
@@bbittercoffee Because the game didnt want people stocking up in too much teeth, he made that the more fur you have the lesser the chance of you getting the card you want, this way you won't get too greedy.
@@legionario9115 Hmmm, seeing as it's the same guy, he's really just making it easier for himself after all
@@bbittercoffee honestly the pelts are likely easier to get, should the player loose before trading he wouldent have to give up his cards

literally got goosebumps and I audibly whispered "oh shit" when the humming filled my ears. I had no idea what this boss' gimmick was, or its mechanics, I just knew that I was fucked. This is what music was made for, and why it is so important in videogames. Amazing game and OST.
YES I hadn't played a single card when this music started and I just sat and listen for a minute and went "Yup I'm dying here, not sure how or what I can do but on this first run through. Imma turn into a pelt!"
This OST is so nice like I get shivers from it, and the good shivers when you find a good song. I feel like depending on the boss it should depend on the music. If the boss is supposed to be taken at a slow pace, with calculations it should be something like this. If it's supposed to be quick, the music should be quick.
Everyone fucked after that wall of grizzly
I like how the boss themes for Inscryption aren't up beat and fast like other games, Their more slow and tense and create a feeling of dread, it makes this sense of danger that let's you know, one small mistake and everything you worked for is gone.
Other games have fast boss fight music because you usually gotta think fast to avoid quick attacks. (I'm thinking of games like undertale and hollow knight for example)
Slow boss fight music is good for a card game such as inscryption because you have all the time in the world... But one misplay could be your demise.
The music should fit it's game I say and inscryption does well.
@@aierisfrost8447 Undertale still has fast boss music...
@@TurboTastik
That's what I said
@@TurboTastik yeah. You have to avoid attacks...

The music makes you nervous. The mask put on makes you shocked, maybe even betrayed. And then the wall of knives, makes you feel fear.

This game blew my mind like no other game in the past 5 or so years, really impressive job!
That's a staple for Daniel Mullins' games
I'd be able to say the same if I hadn't already played Outer Wilds
And the fact the game even has an ARG hidden underneath it, makes it better.
Another day, another of my fave indies making a card game...

i dont know why all the other rips of this song have the skinning sounds so goddamn loud, like three times as loud as they were in the actual game. they were there, yes, but not LOUDER THAN THE MUSIC!
Seriously, even if you buy the OST on steam, you can barely appreciate this amazing song because the skinning sounds will be so loud .
It makes me appreciate that there's THIS version here without those sounds. Thank you for this version.
I actually quite like the skinning sounds, though yeah, they're LOUD.
@@Tilde_Shii they're fine when they're as quiet as they were in the actual game.
Kinda loud but i can still hear it, also the skinning sound goes well with the trapper and that you are his next skin
Favorite theme of the first act in inscryption tbh, it just fits perfectly into inscryption and really made it feel like a boss battle, best part is that I struggled a lot on the fight just bc of the 1st phase and then 2nd came as a real suprise and the theme just fit perfectly for both

I don't think people appreciate that enough. Truly remarkable craftsmanship.
He lets you buy pelts from him, and then you give the pelts back to him.
Profit.
Definitely prefer being able to hear this without all the extra sound effects layered over outside the game.
It sounds like someone is slurping a turkey :D
If you're trying to enjoy the song outside of the game, then removing the extra sound effects is good. But they definitely do the job of setting the mood and ambience in-game.
@@mloxard That is one way to put it 🤣
@@WanderTheNomad The only issue is the ripping is so much louder in the OST version than in the actual game

The humming still gives me chills, especially with the context of Leshy's intro

Honestly I especially love the humming aspect. It makes me think of camp songs along with the lighting in the game (even if the lighting is static unlike that of a campfire), and considering the fact this is supposed to be in a cabin in the middle of the woods, it has that nice mixture of both charm and immersion.

My absolute favorite fight. It wasn't a super over the top thing like some other games(mgr2) and the tension was so thick that it choked me out. I truly felt like I wasn't going to win here. It felt like a final battle for some reason and I adored every second of it.
Such a great song for this game..
And a really really cool game! Absolutely loved it!
Check out some tracks from Hunt:Showdown, they have a similar vibe.
Really hyped for Inscrytion! Also is that music for one of the bosses? Kinda sounds like it.
you probably already know this from the demo but, its not a boss, its a special character that you can buy pelts from with extra teeth from overkill damage at the end of a fight, if you can keep the pelts you can encounter pelt traders that exchange 1 pelt for a card, the better the pelt, the better the cards.

@@Zeforas I did, it was a really wild ride too.
Incredible design with this music and the cottage's lights going out afterwards. Your ears still ring with those first three notes from 1:28 (and other bits, just a timestamp) and then as you head into the final segment you get that set of notes one more time as the lights go out before you head to the "final" boss.
Just so perfectly set up.
I honestly prefer this to the official release with the munching and such as sounds in the background.
its not even in the backgrounds, the high frequencies push it as the "melody" part where the humming becomes the bass and it just shifts the entire composition
I love how spooky and dark this boss music is. It's really cool and unique
This music, as well as the game, is absolutely fantastic. Hope the ost comes to Spotify

Interesting that the one in the game when the soundtrack is being played I swear I hear like The ripping noise for like an animal being skinned
That's because that is the final version of the track. This is a "preview," apparently.
The sound effects in the game are good and belong there

My first battle with him was sooo scuffed. Basically, there was a script(or a scrypt perhaps :P ) that the trapper does the wall of flight-blocking grizzlys, because player needs to die and learn the deathcards. I just casually tooth'n'eyed him.
