Had a black one. For 25 years... Lost to a pawn shop when I hit the low point of my life.. Got it from dad when I was young and just started.. You really start to respect something that you love since you've lost it. Hopefully it finds its way back to home
Ps. If someone reads this comment in Finland contact me please.. I'll pay you nicely
@@gringostarr69 what year was it?
I prefer the look of the larger headstock. To me it looks more balanced with the rest of the guitar, compared to the the smaller ones.
I have a 76 hard tail and it’s great!
70s Strats are my absolute favourite era.
It’s a love or hate. No middle ground
Love the hardtail bridge and sound of the pickups! I can see the neck radius must be 7". It looks quick rounded in the video. I typically do not like the sound of single coils; I prefer humbuckers, but the sound of this 74 was pretty sweet.
Fender made a handful of very innovative and forward thinking guitars in the 1970's. The Telecaster Deluxe was one of them
i love the bigger sized headstock too. its more of an acquired taste kinda thing. for the weight of 70s fenders, it all depends on the year. usually the older 70s fenders are heavier than the earlier ones. the 3 way switch is commonly replaced to a 5 way but just like you i like keeping everything bone stock if possible. great review mate!
Nice strat man- I'm building a 70s right now from scratch, all fender era correct parts, ash laquer body, tex mex pu. My favorite era/look for strats
I would love a real 70s strat can I ask what weight is your one I played a ash 73 hardtail and it was very light but some can get up too 10 pound if I get one I want a really heavy one I feel there is more quality in heavy guitar because of more dense woods and so on thanks.
Ya I like heavy guitars too. This one was like 8ish , I prefer around 9 lbs
I love natural guitars. And they generally have matched headstocks too!
Agreed
My cousin has the 70's strat equivalent of a tuxedo, black with a white pickguard, rosewood fretboard and a black matching headstock. I don't know if it's a reissue or what but it's an awesome guitar and one of the nicest strats I've ever played.
It wasn't the hardtail aspect that makes it sound/feel unique. The brass nut gives a darker less ducky sound and a major increase (depending on your sensitivity) in sustain, the highs will be clear and present but smoother and less tinny sounding
Fender came out with the large headstock in 1966.
Nice video! Thank you!
The only thing I have against the guitars with the bullet truss is you get people who have tried to adjust the neck to less bow without loosing the string tension. They are very easy to strip out and become useless. Something to watch out for. But other than that the three bolt works fine and if it feels good and sounds good to you go for it. Cheers.
do you think the neck is good for thumb over playing? that's my sort of style and I'm thinking of getting a 70's strat soon.
I got a 70's reissue. The third bolt is screwed in a hidden metal plate and this plate is screwed in the wood of the neck with two bolts. So it is finaly a four bolts fixation. Is it the same with original 70's models ?
Actually fender startind using big headstocks on strats,w/o the bullet truss........
No tremolo - bummer.
Throwback. 🥶🥶🥶
Waiting for a genuine 70's Telecaster Custom review... fingers crossed
But...but...but... 70’s guitars are the worst EVER MADE!!! Teh interwebz say so! (full disclosure, my very favorite guitar is a ‘77 Les Paul Deluxe. I’ll sell my ‘55 Junior before I sell that one).
That’s a damned nice hardtail Strat. Hardtails are something special.
