id suggest putting it on the left side not the right, its really annoying to have to let go of the mouse or to reach across your setup with your left hand to use the stream deck
yeahhh I thought that, it's more efficient to keep a hand on my mouse. The Audio panel controls worked best on the left to keep the XLR cables on a far side. I could move them to the right, I'd have to flip the circuit board upside down and route the headphone and bass shaker chair plug further but it's no a bad idea. Think I might test it out on the right and see. nothing's final 🤙
Stream decks are dangerous! I dread to think how many hours of my life I've spent setting up profiles and making icon packs. They made me fall in love with Elgato products and then halo'd me into the rest of their ecosystem. Great video as always, loving this series!
Yeah I've avoided the button only models for many years, but when I saw the plus with knobs I couldn't resist anymore. It's the perfect layout for the desk and I'm so relieved that it will fit!
@@Mr.McWatson 100%. Elgato's stream deck software is super user friendly and easy to set up. From there it becomes as simple or complicated as you want it to be.
You make everything seem so simple lol I've been watching RUclipsrs for a long time now and seeing your videos inspired me to become a RUclipsr. I told my friend if I were to make content, I'd do it this way lol I appreciate you, my boy! Keep killing it out there ✌
That's awesome to hear man! My advice is to start and learn something new with each video. One vid practice camera angles, next vid practice audio levels, and eventually with time, you'll become better and better at making content 🤙
Hey Cam, IDK if you know this or ended up learning this, you can also swipe left or right on the touch screen to change the inputs for the knobs. Also belive it moves the pages on the top buttons as well so you can do some pretty nefty things with it.
Been loving this series so far. Planning a build with similar features that I want to make out of wood. Wanting to make the top a kind of folding lid with all the computer peripherals inside so the desk functions as a clean table/work surface when its closed.
I am wanting to do something similar and build my own computer desk. While my current I did build and customized it, it is the the dream one I want to build but it is work for what I need. Your videos have given me some ideas that I may want to do.
Nice video man! I started with a stream deck and have been on a journey testing tons of mechanical macropads... but that software demo reminded me why going elgato can make certain things easier. Keep em coming!
Yo Yo it's the macropad man! haha, I've watched so many of your vids. I bought a Xencelabs Quick Keys after seeing your demo. But yeah those Megalodon ones are soo bad to setup, I did a video on the small 4 button 1 knob model and my goodness is their software support and documentation practically nonexistent. I just left it as media controls and mounted it into the audio panel of my desk 😅
@@camshand Thanks man, that is mutual btw... I've been following along with your desk build series. You are crushing it with those thumbnails 🔥The all mighty algorithm better be rewarding you for all this effort you are putting in.
Honestly I would have loved to put it straight into the desk. But at the moment I'm really under the crunch timewise, and running prototype cuts myself and then booking a time to have the panel cut with a C02 laser in town just didn't align. Figured it'd also be best to wait until I've figured out how I'm going to do buttons for the standing desk legs, and to layout spacing to cut the right panel when ready 🤙
I do like that Loupedeck has a keyboard angle so you can use it more like a traditional macro pad. I've tried a few different options like the XENCELABS Quick Keys and Blackmagic Design Speed Editor but I always return to keyboard shortcuts for editing videos and photo's I think out of fear that when I'm travelling I can't be reliant on them.
can you seperate the lower half of the circuit board from the upper half? I actually planned to do a similar panel to what you did but it's not very tall but in exchange for that it's very wide. I measured it out and a stream deck mini would fit perfectly. But if the Stream deck plus has actually two pcbs, i would seperate them and put them next to each other.
Yes, but the touchscreen is apart of the lcd button PCB. So you can only relocate the knobs easily, and so the labels for what each knob is doing won't align for the added ease of labels. Eitherway should be able to use jumper wires to simple re-route to the knob's PCB header, and then also add a wire for grounding, looks like they have some foil going between the two boards.
@@camshandthat's a shame. I will check if it will fit anyway. The LCD is just one "big" panel for all the buttons and the lower screen, right? I don't know if I will have a use for the knobs anyway because my volume is controlled analog.
dude i have had a stream deck for 2 years and i found out from this video that you can have it change profiles depending on the program open? thank youuuuu
Yes super useful trick! I'm playing around with ones for my editing software. So I can have macros for common commands only show when that's the active window 🤙
Appreciate the support man, the smooth movement comes from my Shark Nano slider. It's a 2-Axis camera slider that's really easy to program movements. The camera tracking shots in the intro of my previous video (Standing Desk Legs) is a Hohem MT2 Gibal with Person Detection.
It's pretty snazzy, there's some other options out there on the market but I really liked the layout of this for the desk. And yeah man, got that hoodie at a H&M in Venice Italy of all places whilst escaping the rain haha, the back has an awesome huge embroidered graphic with a panther.
that's awesome dude! I can really see a desk hub control interface becoming popular future. A lot of music production desks have integrated rack mounts. Love to hear you made your own monitor riser to do it 🤙
Couldn’t you just wire up a ESP32 or ESP8266 instead of that razer thing. If you check the led preferences you can also assign multiple led strips as different zones, you’d just use a different GPIO-Pin for each LED strip you want to control separately. As far as I know WLED also has a Streamdeck app.
yes I'm heavily considering making the switch, if anything adding a literal switch to the desk to route the data line between an ESP32 with WLED and the razer box. That way I can do RGB control with the streamdeck, or when gaming I can switch over to the Razer for the integrations. still unsure on an exact solution, wanted to stay away from SignalRGB's subscriptions.
I feel like a complete hipster with these, but as much as Elgato have almost perfected the macro pad, damn they're not cheap (And it makes sense) and I really hope other brands catch on and try to achieve this incredible level of integration with apps, but bring the price down
yeah price is up there but it's on par with the options from LoupeDeck and Razer. either way it'd always be good to see the price come down so more people can try out and enjoy the features!
YES! This is an idea I have to try, by tricking Synapse into thinking it's a game that's sending it colour commands. But will need me to write a plug-in for the stream deck that can middle man the communication between both.
I've actually had some interest in made to order, problem is the main lengths are massive! 2.2 meters is not something that fits in the mail easily. I'll be releasing the plans with measurements and parts lists to make the frame so people can send them to a supplier and have everything cut to size.
haha you can see hints throughout past project videos. I'm thinking a "Makerspace Makeover" might be needed after the desk, I'm running out of space for all my 3D printers, Laser Cutters and the CNC machine 😅
@@camshand do it! hints arent enough and the reorganization videos are always fun to watch a space transform. im about to start my youtube journey renovating my grandmas old detached garage into a big workshop
But then I wouldn't have the nice LED Screen buttons. I'm going to be mounting the PCB as is for the buttons into the desk in the next part. Might have to move the encoders pins to make it more flush as the stock enclosure has them recessed.
Nice! I will buy this myself, but I don't know when. Maybe I should wait untill my birthday and wish it from my wifey? 🙂 Tnx for a very nice video !!! -KK.

What’s crazier is he didn’t even know that with the stream deck plus you get access too the wave link software so you can balance all of your audio sources and add effects into them with the software like voice meter. I can recommend SignalRGB over Razer Synapse. Swapped last year, definitely won't go back.
