1) My comfort seat is great, 2) I have the SP 3) suspension just needs setting up, mine is the Ohlins from the R1M 4) Brakes never had an issue on them, if you look at the SP calipers they are slightly different than standard mt10 5) fuel economy agree it sucks but after a woolish Ecu flash I get 140 to a tank 👍.
yea comfort seat is good but on my bike the standard seat and the comfort seat have a poor fit. SP is good - all the goodies from the R1M :-) and regards to brakes - i have read that quite a few people see a marked improvement with better pads installed.
People need to stop bitching about the suspension on these bikes and get it set up by someone that knows what they’re doing. Which is something that needs to be done on every bike.
I'm over two years in with mine, still love this bike. Yes it's thirsty but I can live with it, just need to plan the fuel stops if touring. Rode mine 2500 miles to Carcassonne and back in the summer on the stock seat, I must be the only MT10 owner who likes that seat. Thanks for the sub on my tiny channel BTW Cheers
I just took my MT10 on a 1500km ride of highway and mountain roads and I was down to the flashing bar after 240km with 4 litres to go. That’s about 145 miles plus another 25 miles before I’d need to start worrying. I averaged 5.2l/100km for the trip whatever that works out to. I had cruise control mostly on the open highway parts. I could have improved on that if not for the mountain sections.
This is encouraging. I’m settling on one of these tomorrow and I’m trading in a 1290 gen 2 which always does 155 miles and sometimes does 188 miles to a tank. I can be fast but I seem to have a style which doesn’t demand loads of fuel. I think I may be like you.
I test rode one on Saturday, seat is hard, the brakes I can get used to, but the fuel consumption is terrible. But, that engine is worth the draw backs, so much so I'm buying one.
For those of you that don't wanna watch it --- here's his list : #1 Standard saddle sux #2 Lots of people have them - it's a commonly owned mobike #3 Suspension sux #4 Brakes sux #5 Fuel Economy. He forgot : #6 Mirrors #7 Chewing through tires #8 Cost in USA $13K is a *LOT* of money.!
Yeah but Yamaha has a comfort seat available... who cares...(subjective) just goes to show how well they sell... means more forums... that’s a good thing. Have you adjusted it? You mean too hard? Those are the same KYB shocks in the R1s... so upgrade to fully sintered brakes. All bikes come with organic pads. Easy and cheap fix. Upgrade the brake lines to steel braided.....fuel economy??????? Dude I never got more than 100 on any R1...... you can’t have crossplane tech and touring MPG...!! that’s the price of a high performance engine???? If you want more then buy a tenre or a fz 09....
The sound at 7:25 is why we buy these. Comfort seat is fine. Mirrors are not good from new, but I put 2 extensions on and now perfect. The first demonstrator I tried had standard front suspension setting. Too much compression damping on turn in to bumpy corners caused the front to skitter over the bumps. When I got mine, I reduced the comp. damping and I find it great now. I don't have a problem with the brakes. To Renegade, why keep saying what you'd have to do for the track? It's a bloody road bike. We know you have to make changes for the track. However, liked your run around Coventry. Can't wait to get out on mine. What's the betting the end of 'Lockdown' will coincide with the start of the monsoon season!
hey, its just my opinion and perspective as to what I use the bike for and just to give ideas about what i'd change. Also, people seem to like the "5 things i hate" videos so had to come up with 5 bad points lol - thanks for watching :-)
@@renegade1987 That's fine mate. As I said, I liked the video. I just think these are amazing bikes and where I live in south Worcestershire, there aren't huge numbers of them, but I bought mine for me, which I suspect you did also.
I feel opposite here in the states. I show up to a meet and I feel exclusive because there are more sport bikes. You don’t see a lot of MT-10s. I usually see more MT-09/07s. I also think the suspension is pretty stiff. I do agree the brakes are terrible!
Hi Mate. Have you tried adjusting the custom setup? I think you could possibly sort all your problems with the bike. Also change the tyres to quality rubber not the factory option. Good luck!
i spent.....shew....$500 on a corbin seat. It changed the game for me, looks really good too wayyy more comfortable. Gas mileage is about my only gripe. Favorite bike i've ever had.
The mt-10 has abs bud you can slam them on, stop on a penny and not worry about sliding so if you dont feel like you stopping quick enough your not using the breaks to there full potential
Did you sort your suspension out: set sag, set compression and rebound damping on the hard side? Suspension comes directly from the R1, just progressive springs for better road manners. Having said that, the bike is heavier, so overall rear is under-sprung which could be sorted out with an aftermarket shock (something like a Nitron). The brakes, change the pads and it'll be ok, if you want to go further that way, many people made a cheap upgrade to the R1's radial pump. Fuel economy is a known issue for crossplanes, yes the bike is thirsty which is a shame but hey, it's a fun bike and it's a good trade off. What I don't like is the pillion pegs that get into the way of the boots. Also the rear sets are too close to the ground and have no ground clearance for track days. ABS is not switchable off for the rear tyre and TCS is too simple, no IMU.
5 things I hate about my MT-10: 1-I'm not riding it now 2-It makes my face hurt from smiling so much 3-The sound it makes has caused an addiction 4-The quickshifter/auto-blipper has also caused an addiction 5-I'm not riding it now

I have a 2018 MT10 in blue. My only gripe are the fuel economy and front brake is nowhere near as good as the BMW S1000R. I got the comfort seat for free, not even used the standard one! I have a Scorpion decat and GP end can... It's so damn loud it's awesome. My fuel economy is about 110 miles before I stop to fill up. But a long motorway run is getting me around 130 miles. A good thrash day will get me around 100 miles before she's flashing empty :) As for seeing other MT10s I go to Squires Cafe in Sherburn and I'm usually the only MT10 guy there even when the place is packed! Ride safe!
i have the decat and standard pipe, but it pops and bangs a lot on the overrun. some people like that a lot but im not so keen - need to get it mapped so the fueling is spot on.
I have 1 and its a super bike, suspension needs to be set for the rider. I have had mine on track and done 10k over the past year. I ride like a hooligan at all times and the brakes have never failed me. Fuel economy is poor though
If you ride within your limits and the bikes limits then the brakes would be fine - but theres no denying that there are other bikes out there with better "stock" brakes. fuel economy is the main thing that lets it down for me tbh, filling up every 90 miles does my head in lol.
The brakes are a little softer on the leaver but will stop the bike in any situation, I regularly ride to the limit on some of the best twisties here in the west of Ireland and they haven’t failed me. I set the suspension to suit my weight and riding style and love it.
I think i did notice it when i first got the bike, almost like a very dull timing chain rattle..? Once i put the decat pipe on though it was so loud i couldn't hear anything but the engine lol
Yea I don't even mind the fuel consumption, but a bigger tank would have been nice. I can't believe they released a "touring" MT10 and it still had hardly any range.
Its a good video just worth remembering the bike just needs abit of a tweak to get it where you want it... apart from the fuel, short of putting a jerry can in your bag your stuffed lol.
